Ah the good old days, i grew up in the 80s and it was amazing. That decade was magic, the toys, tv shows and the films where all great. I look back at the 80s with such happy memories. A-team, knight rider, dukes of hazzard, street hawk, transformers, star wars, star trek, back to the future, karate kid, the list goes on and on. Great times..
It really was the greatest time to be a kid. These commercials punch me in the feels big-time. Trips with grandma to Kmart and Zayre's and going to the SW toy aisle (and it was spectacular!), leaving with at least a few figures and/or vehicle. Still collecting this stuff!!
Christmas 1980-1981, I got the millennium falcon, Slave one, Bespin cloud car, tauntaun and the Bespin playset along with all the figures from Empire Strikes back. I never got the AT AT or snowspeeder though.
I took apart a blue marker and dunked the ink cylinder into the water to make it dark blue. Of course when Han thawed his plastic face absorbed the ink. So my Han action figured had freezer burn. heh.
+Cobracatcommander That is true. I look at the kids these days and think, "damn, glad I live during the late 70's, 80's with the classic tv, movies, music, toys, etc. But in 35 years, people will look fondly at Smartphones and other things that we think are kind of foolish.
Thanks for this collection of commercials!!! Brings back memories of playing outside than on the computer, talking together than texting, real friends than Facebook friends, Saturday morning cartoons, parents knew where you were rather than where have you been.....I can go on and on!!! Such simpler times.
+Kevin Salving However, it was also a time where the amount of toys and the kinds of toys were deciding factors in how much of a likable human being you are in the playground.
I know your semi-joking, but you're really offending me here. I go outside. But hey, isn't technology worth it if you playing Star Wars Battlefront on your Classic Xbox?
Nothing wrong with technology.I'm all for it. However, what I am basically saying is that I am glad I got to experience life before technology took over completely(which is what has pretty much happened). As I said, I like all tech out there...just glad that I got to experience both ends of the spectrum. Kids these days will never get to experience what I did.
@@raydeen1 Oi!!!! I am as much as an 80s kid as you are, although I'm twelve, I play vintage Nintendo games, I play and collect action figures, I brag on what Im like in class, I love 80s film and TV, I collect vintage film and TV, Your refering to the typical teenager, " Oh all kids know are Mobile phones" your forgetting the Star Wars enthusiasts the LEGO Enthusiasts, Figure Enthusiasts,
I have that exact Slave 1 sitting in my room right now. I found it in an Antique store for like, 15 bucks XD I'm missing the sliding floor but it's in good condition.
I bought mine months ago from a vintage toy store. Box, instructions, stickers still on the sheet, and the vehicle is complete. One of my favorite pieces.
I really need someone to find a way to go back in time, i want my childhood back. And also ask for two of everything so i can keep them in their box for today.
Ah man we had it so good. We were happy and it was so exciting to see all those figures and vehicles in the stores. That Yoda puppet ad was better than a lot of stuff these days.
Brings back such happy memories I was into Star Wars toys as a child during that time, it's amazing to think these little kids on these commercials would today be in their 40s and maybe even 50s
I had the darth vader carrier case. I think it held almost 24 figures. Then when return of the Jedi came out, the threepio gold carrier case came out. I had that too.
I never saw this commercial I was still 5 and 7 year old but I love seeing my friends with there star wars action figures so started growing up loving star wars it was on till 1987 when I was 12 years old I started to collect Star wars action figures
I'm a teenager now and my version of Kenner Star Wars is the Star Wars Vintage Collection line from 2011 but you gotta still love the original Star Wars toys by Kenner.
GrumpyProduct10 Boi Trust me, if your shit is only from 2011, it's NOT considered vintage. Anything that came out after the 80's is NOT vintage and is not worth of frozen Tauntaun shit. All my Star Wars collectible toys are originals from the early 80s and I also still have their original boxes and packaging to prove it.
The only action figure I had from the Star Wars collection was a little Chewbacca head 12in Chewbacca that my great-grandmother got me cuz I was in the hospital. My mom didn't have much money she was a single mom and we were on welfare so we couldn't afford toys but I appreciate what my grandmother got me
These cheesy back commercials...OMGosh I remember when I watched them I'd get all excited...and I knew what to ask for as a X-Mas present. it takes you back...some what embarrassing but a good feeling none the less :D
Man the 80s we're the best no Terrorist threats in America, Great Saturday morning cartoons, cool Rock Music, n no Trump or Kardashians.....Where's Doc Brown when u need him for a trip Back to the Future :(
That last commercial must've been pretty soon after ESB if it was still referring to "REVENGE of the Jedi"! (As SW fans know, that was to have been the title of Ep VI, but ended up being changed since Lucas decided revenge wasn't a Jedi thing.)
Ep. 6 was titled "Revenge of the Jedi" for a while, 1980-82. Promotional material was created and distributed about a year before the 1983 release. Interesting fact, 1982's Star Trek II was originally titled "The Vengeance of Khan." They changed the title so as not to create confusion with "Revenge of the Jedi."
@@leovalverde1508 Yeah, and after all that, Star Wars changed their title anyway! (Maybe it was for the best. "The Wrath Of Khan" just flows better as a title.)
It’s nice that people have been able to upload these so we have this time capsule but it will be so cool if someone from the the counter whoever made these commercials can release them in a crisp digital HD look that would be even more spectacular but if not I’m happy to have these how I miss being a kid and I always wondered if the actors ever got to keep those toys🤔
These days were golden!!! I used to have plenty of star wars toys back then. I do regret giving all my spaceships to my nephew and all my action figures to my friend's nephew. But I started collecting and I can say I have a somewhat huge collection
Brings me back to the days when the neighbor girl and I played with my Star Wars figures outside. The scenarios in these commercials were much better than ours though. Ours usually ended with her running inside to tell her mom because I called her a bitch because she kept breaking the heads off of my figures. She was hell on those toys.
GI Joe items from Hasbro with their figures, vehicles, planes, ships and bases were far more fun to play with than some star wars items. Some were good like the walkers and some ships but overall GI Joe had more selection and better designed toys.
Imagine that they made Ezra Bridger, Ahsoka Tano, Bad Batch, Rex and Ghost Crew Toys were actually made in 1980 when the movie empire strikes back come out
These commercials are a couple of years before my time, so the whole "you have to put it together" line sounded odd to my ears. I guess this was before they settled on "some assembly required". Which was probably more accurate anyway.
I'm really interested in this imperial storm trooper that Luke decided to save before Chewie now. Did he join the alliance? Did he shoot Luke right afterwards? Was it all just so that Kenner could sell more action figures? Probably one of these.

The Imperial attack base playset I considered incorrect. The Empire never had a "base" to attack from on Hoth. They just landed with their troops and walkers to overrun the rebels. This set looks more like the trenches of the Rebel "Echo" base instead. it made a good companion set to the sets with the turrent and "radar laser" cannon.

8:25 my mom used to yell at me for always leaving Han Solo upside down in a Glass inside the freezer lol....MOM ITS CARBON FREEZING GEEEZ!
yep, me too! that commercial must be where I got the idea :D
We did it too. I noticed on some gijoe and star wars Facebook groups people mentioning Han in the fridge freezer.

Trews Detroit LoL. That’s funny if we only were quicker
Don't feel bad, Disney did too.
Rebel Soldier: Uh sir shouldn't we have changed out of our Hoth gear? It's 150 degrees out here
Han: Knew I was forgetting something
Han is just playing it safe... The inside of those carbonite slabs can get pretty nippy...
The bass line that starts every commercial is hypnotic.
Must. Make. Parents. Buy me. Shitty toys ...
The action figures are pretty cool, but some of the play sets are a little off

I froze mine in a half gallon milk carton.
I froze mine in the tray of the case that held Star Wars figures.
I jammed my Han Solo figure into a bar of soap so I could play with it in the bath tub. Only took about 3 weeks for him to get out of carbon freeze.
