What a beautiful song with a strong message. My grandfather suffered from dementia for many many years after my grandmother died. The illness robbed him of who he was. It was very hard for my mom too as he no longer recognized her. I hope we will find a real effective treatment or even cure to this illness once we have gained a better understanding of it. Much of this is related to the aging process so maybe in time we can even slow down or even stop that as well. This might seem a bit science fictiony for now, but research is progressing in how aging works and how we could possibly find a way to slow it down or even halt it.

A lot of people misreading the lyrics. It’s about a long lost friend who the narrator is catching up with. The narrator is flooded with memories of their old friendship and how great it was. It’s like a emotional reflection. Beautiful song and something I can sort of relate to (defining long lost friend as a soulmate who stopped contact two years ago).
How else could we interpret the lyrics? 🤦🏻♂️

What I loved about Avicii's music and videos is that it was never loaded with sex, drugs, parties and money like 90% of today's popular music. He really was great at telling stories, touching interesting subjects and connecting with people.

Story time:
When i was 9, i was molested. I grew up hating myself and the ppl around me, i couldn't trust anyone. Until four years ago, I met this girl. She was strange, funny and clumsy. I let my guard down and she became my one and only friend. I didn't know real ppl existed. She was real. For the first time, I knew how it felt like to have someone that care about you.. it was weird but she did.
She move to another state to start college and I move to San Diego to start my career. Later, i found out she got engage and is about to have kid.
This song remind me of her and all the good times we had and the laughers we share.
