  • My good friend Bob, his dog Boots and I made a couple trips to Northern MN wilderness to search for moose antler sheds. In this video I share some beautiful scenery, document our progress as we hike (& canoe) many miles and also those rewarding moments where I/we actually find some!

The blood is from ticks. Seen it before

That's pretty interesting. Are the ticks bleeding from being swollen and full of blood then getting punctured? Or is the moose bleeding from the skin where the ticks attach?

How's the new blind coming along? I am very interested in seeing the progress.

The hexagon build is at a standstill. Too many other summer projects have taken priority! I'll finish it, but it might not be until winter when I have the time to dedicate to it.

When they shed, many of them leave blood trails from the pedicle. Either that or ticks

It was a bit late for a bull to be shedding antlers but it may be possible I suppose. Either way, I couldn't find them out there!

Bet you're not finding as many paddles anymore since you posted this. Show everyone ur spots, and everyone will be there

Nope, because I haven't been back there since. Someday again, maybe. I did find out that the other side of the dark antler was found in the snow a few miles away, by someone else a couple months earlier - because of this video. It was good to know and good to make the connection. So there's pros an cons. Either way, there's a lot of woods out there & it all changes from cutting, storms, fire, predation, etc. and whoever finds them on foot, really earns them. Good spots don't stay good forever and there's always another new spot somewhere to try. I went back to a spot in Ontario that used to be really good. Finally got back up there after 4 years. Only found one set dropped there a year earlier. Nobody beat me to them last year, or this year. The natural conditions changed. That said, there's definitely a reason why I haven't posted more shed hunting videos on my channel.
