When I... finish reading Moby Dick. And then allow myself to play Canto 5. I've been behind. Haven't even heard the tracks yet, tbh. I will absolutely do that, though, once I catch up.
@@Jack-mt3fw I had already read some of the sources, so I thought it'd be neat to try and keep up with the ones I haven't read already as they come up. I'm definitely not going to be managing some of them, though. (I'll read Crime and Punishment someday.) In some cases being familiar elevates the chapter, like how Canto III twists some of the concepts in Demian on their head, in how Kromer derails the story and forces a more immediate conflict with Emil's morality in a sort of inversion of his sense of good and evil in purity and corruption compared to the novel. (e.g. In the book Emil thinks that he is the corrupting force in his pure family, whereas in Limbus he is disgusted at what he sees as the corruption of his family in their progressing prostheses, and that conflict plays out with Kromer instead of elsewhere. And the rest of Emil's character arc has been put off for now.) But admittedly, it has weakened some of the game's story for me, just in how unfair it is to go from Herman Melville's beautifully wrought prose to a translation of a Korean mobile game based on it. So Ahab was a bit of an letdown when every single word out of her mouth did not sound like poetry. But in general I do appreciate having more perspective on these characters, accurate or otherwise, that we don't get in the game And I have, as of now, finished Moby Dick, Canto V, and I am almost finished with the next video. So hey, on to Wuthering Heights.
