This is my personal 2024 Tamiya RC Car collection. Nothing else. As it happened I had exactly 52 Tamiya cars in my collection at the start of 2024. So here they are.
Coincidentally - it is also 10 years ago I got my first Tamiya RC Car as an adult - which launched me into this great hobby. So I consider this is my personal 10th year RC Anniversary too.
On top of that, this is also my little chance of re-entering the great and valuable RC car and Tamiya community online. In a way that doesn't require more effort and time than I have at hand. Right now my priority is my family and three little children - and the many work hours that go into supporting them. At the end of each day - just before going to sleep - I feel quite exhausted and these short videos are quite often all that I have time for in a week - at least consistently throughout the year. I hope there will be a few other videos, now and then, when time and the level of energy allows.
I am looking very much forward sharing my passion and love of the hobby again with my friends here in 2024.
If nothing else, this is a great chance for me to dive into my personal collection of Tamiya RC Cars, dust them off, one by one, and enjoy them - even if I find it hard to find some time running them. Hoping for some chances to get at least a few of them outside in 2024 though. All are runners.

I had one of these back in 1985. I was 19 years old and it was my first RC car. Had a Futaba "pistol" radio, too.
Upgraded to a Tamiya Subaru Brat about 2 years later. Great memories.🙂
Nice! Good old 1980s. Wish I had had a GH or a Brat back then. Or any Tamiya. I had the Nikko and Taiyo models. Great fun too and great memories too though :-)
The Candy Green was a nice change from Tamiya with the Grasshopper.
Hi Mal. Yeah, and a great success. Since this one they have released identical "limited editions" several times, ha ha :-)
Hi again Mikael! Beautiful - the best looking of all the Hoppers in my opinion. Presented here in great detail, a lovely crisp, bright image! I've missed out chats too, my mate! 😎👊👍
Hi my dear Mark! Yeah, although I am very fond of the others too. Especially the Hornet. I think they did a good and interesting job on the others, GH2 chassis and DT-01, but the bar was set too high from the beginning, in terms of the aesthetics at least :-) And yeah, boy, I still miss all of our chats here. Hope to find some time to visit all my favorite channels soon! :-)
Loving that green paint job!
😁👌
Thanks, Tamiya painted it for me :-)
Beautiful video again, my friend! It's a cool old buggy and of course there needs to be a candy green Grasshopper, it looks great in that colour!
Thanks you so much, Mads! Yeah, I think this was a good idea. So much I made my own version of the Candy Green Grasshopper for the Grasshopper II and Mad Bull :-)
Hi Mikael, a nice looking candy green grasshopper, fitting colour, for the hopper style. 😊😊best wishes to you and the family 😉😊
Thank you my bro! Yeah, really looks very Grasshopper'ish :-) Best wishes to you and yours too
Fantastic 👍👍👍
Thank you my long time bro!
Such a good colour for the GH
Yeah, really fits it! Thanks for watching bro!
Very nice
Thank you so much!
Excellent idea for a video series Mikael. You have one more Tamiya than me. I only have 51 now because I sold 15 over the past two years. I still have my Candy Green Edition Grasshopper but it's more like a Dust Green Grasshopper now because it's been on the shelf for so long! I really like the Trip Hop music you used on this video. It reminds me of Kruder & Dorfmeister. Could you tell me who it is please. Thank you 🙂
Hi Derek! Thanks! Ha ha, one more and you "only" have 51 :-) Yeah, sold off quite a bit back in the City. But the last years I have kept all of them. Too precious. Well, mine was Dust Green just before this video too. I don't have much spare time these days, so these videos is a great opportunity for me to enjoy the models, one at a time, and dust them off. Yeah, Trip Hop! ... Uhh, good old 90's. I was quite into it for some years. Massive Attack, Nitin Sawney and all the other big ones. One tip: Nowadays UA-cam automatically add info about the music in the description box (if you scroll down). This oneis just taken form the Audio Libray: Jeremy Blake, Never Play.
Picking one of these uo in Japan next moth for 65 AUD cheap as chips.
Oooh.. This one's got the big motor. Seriously, with a 540, 2S LiPo an ESC/BEC, these things rip compared to the originals that had to carry around throttle servos, NiCads and 4xAA receiver packs. I'm going to try some softer rear springs as I think they're now way to stiff without all that weight.
Uhh, yeah, good catch! The 540. Also got one with a 380 and then a 540 Sport Tuned. Great fun. Really fast compared to the standard. Yeah, well, the rear suspension system is a faulty design so it never really can be "saved" (as the roll of the motor with throttle just hardens the suspension no matter how soft the rear springs are.). But yes, better softer than too hard. At least the front springs work fine on the Grasshopper, compared to the ones on the Hornet :-)
Is the body molded green or pre painted?
Quite incredibly pre-painted, but I think the plastic is also green :-)
