I listen to this album between calls (I'm a chimney sweep) because it makes short drives in the van feel like epic journeys through time and space in a rocket ship propelled by the souls of a thousand dead poets. y'know?
@@doomedsounds191 sorry for the late reply…yes. It’s as amazing now as it was 5 years ago. This album has helped shaped my life. I’m happy to have existed at the same time as it. Cheers.
deFyne too right. I've been listening to it since 4 a.m.--now it's 5:30!!! Still riled up! Not sleepy at all! delicious, dreamy music! Filled with energy like a candy bar laced with acid!
Its such an immense feeling to find music from an artist that just fits something you've been longing to hear but wasn't tangible. This album is that for me completely. The album White Fields and Open Devices by Vessels did this for me too when I found them-worth checking out if you like this kind of dense, complex music.
I noticed tears forming under my eyes around 25:20 and I just let them start steam down my face, for some reason that part of the record broke me and turned me into a lost crying baby curled up in the fetal position on my sofa left in need of a comforting hug. At 30:50 it felt like he gave me one. Bens music is like a emotional roller coaster! Definitely the king of transcribing feelings through music.

This is astonishingly beautiful. I actually prefer Cloudkicker's impressionistic wall of riffs to traditional clear-cut post-rock sound along the lines of Pelican. Caspian did the same great thing on "Tertia".
Ben Sharp and Cloudkicker have been a great inspiration to me, not just in terms of sound and diversity, but through his ethos and combination of DIY with professionalism...I have a similar project and can say from experience of having tried to do the same that what he does really is top class. Anyone interested can check my album trailer here: Storm Daughter - Archaic (Album Trailer)
ben is one DIY musician that i can really appreciate not only for the indescribably intelligent and beautiful music but also for his passion for exposing people to good music. not only does he do everything but the album art on his own (writing, guitar, bass, drums, recording, mixing) but he has all his albums available at a 'name your price' download on bandcamp ffs. he's definitely on my list of favorite people to ever walk the earth. 8:50 stole my heart on this one.
This is fully sick love the constant riff motifs throughout. If you here then you will probably like bands like these.... Plini, Animals as leaders, Chon, Scale the Summit, Polyphia, Sithu Aye, Tool, The Sound of Animals fighting, Tesseract , Modern day Babylon , Intervals also mouse on the keys, 65 days of static, this town needs guns
these are all my favorite bands and artists! :D along with btbam, the contortionist and periphery. Also listen to Wide Eyes, and Pomegranate Tiger if you havent already!
I am having my 6 year old son take guitar lessons and he overheard me listening to this album via my IPad. He said, "I think I will play like that sometimes. The guitar makes a buzzy noise but there is no gun violence."
One in the same song :) It's called: You could laugh forever and never end up happy :) Its actually one of my favorites by Mr. Sharp..but that changes like the tides.
I'm seriously fucking obsessed with Cloudkicker, it's so annoying. I can't stop listening, even though the mood of this is keeping me depressed, I crave it. I can't stop.
Shane Jones I don't get depression out of it. I find myself painting a flight thru an imaginary landscape. It's happy time for me! It reminds me of digging on atom heart mother, back in '73. Ahhh....
34:35 I was just writing an article, at this point my brain melted due to sheer power and awesomeness and I was stuck and could not continue writing listening concentrated with my mouth open until the piece ended
I've loved everything he's done, but I was worried he was going to continue down the softer fade/let yourself route. let yourself be huge is a masterpiece, no question. Fade had Seattle and LA after rain but all in all it's something I don't go back to too often. but hearing those drum sticks kick in with that fat beat at the beginning of the warmth was so goddamn amazingly satisfying I just sat and listened, headbanged and loved, and reveled in the classic cloudkicker sound
to have intronaut as the backing band and cloudkickers awesome music will be killer. then to have intronaut play right after that - damn gonna be a memorable show to see and hear!
Kaleb Birdsong Such a fantastic way to hear his music live. Who better than an amazing band like Intronaut to back him up? Everyone who gets to see this show is in for a massive treat. I can't wait!
I loved every bit of this except 28:00 to 30:41, that part was just too repetitive for my tastes. Yeah, I get that it's about the strumming pattern, but I can't handle hearing 2 notes for 2 minutes. Next time I'll just skip that part :p
Thats exactly how I feel. I love this record, it was one of the best of 2013. Its an amazing album but every time I get to that part I just skip to the next track. Not sure what he was thinking when he wrote that part.
I think artistically it's supposed to represent the relentless nature of a tsunami, just when you think it's dissipating it conjures you up into its motion again. It also compliments nicely, the rising background distortion. I get what you were doing Ben, others wouldn't. Lose yourself in the repetition. You're hearing something that is more artistically driven than driven musically, imo.
I listen to this album between calls (I'm a chimney sweep) because it makes short drives in the van feel like epic journeys through time and space in a rocket ship propelled by the souls of a thousand dead poets.
y'know?
thats one hell of a formidable description, mister Nixon Sweep.
epic description. hats off to you.
4 years later, do you still listen to cloudkicker in the same sense?
I understand and love this comment

Cloudkicker's music - one of the best things that ever happened...
Why did I have to find this album at 3 in the morning? Oh well, sleep is definitely less important than listening to this beast in one take. Hot damn.
deFyne too right. I've been listening to it since 4 a.m.--now it's 5:30!!! Still riled up! Not sleepy at all! delicious, dreamy music! Filled with energy like a candy bar laced with acid!
Poppa Punker tell me about it, I gotta get up in 45 minutes...
Yep...

Somebody call a WHAmbulance.
Chris P comment sections and trolls and stuff and OH my!
Timeless masterpiece. Roughly 5:00-26:00 contains so many good riffs it's ridiculous.
Seeing this man play live was probably one of the greatest moments of my life.
Ben Sharp has a really nice complexion as well. haha

that riff at 18:40.... chills.
The heavy part right before that blew my fucking mind oh my god

the contortionist are sick, seeing them in a month with the faceless and protest the hero
I saw Animals as Leaders and Tesseract live in Vienna like a month ago..
amazing...!!!
I think more people should listen to all these bands :3
Try David Maxim (Who bit the moon), Chon, TRAM, The Helix Nebula, Jason Richardson, Mestis, Piotrek Gruzska, Cheers from 2017 :)
Mestis !!
This is just gorgeous music to me, I love the way the guitar conveys so many different emotions and describes them perfectly... no words needed here.
Feels like a religious trip. Masterpiece!
Every single album is different and fantastic. This dude amazes me.
Chuck Graham Agreed. Though this album hits all the right buttons for me. Great blend of genres!
This is upper class music!
Would love to see Cloudkicker and Tool tour together. Just sayin. Be the best concert of my life.
They kinda did! Hahah
SOUNDWALKER how so?
@@YeahImAnthony Cloudkicker played live with Intronaut. Intronaut opened for Tool.
SOUNDWALKER ohhhh no shit
Sadly id be in the tshirt line the entire cloudkicker set but id probably pass it up to see him play this time!
Thank you for no adds
I am having my 6 year old son take guitar lessons and he overheard me listening to this album via my IPad. He said, "I think I will play like that sometimes. The guitar makes a buzzy noise but there is no gun violence."
What? Gun violence...huh weird kid.
How is he coming along?
This is absolutely breathtaking.
I feel like all of us are real cool guys for having listened to this
I imagine Morgan Freeman reading the songtitles.
Robert Pavey lmfao
I'm positive this man will never run out of ideas, awesome music!
when cloudkicker really starts to drone and dominate, it reminds me so much of early era isis. so raw, so heavy. so awesome. I love cloudkicker.
this is easily one of the most emotional pieces of music ive ever heard, or ever will hear in my life. it’s incredible
Going from the song previous to 34:30, into what he did at 34:30, was like feeling the world drop out from underneath you...
One in the same song :) It's called: You could laugh forever and never end up happy :) Its actually one of my favorites by Mr. Sharp..but that changes like the tides.
It certainly does. Awesome stuff this guy is doing. Can't believe it's only one dude.
love the super low chugging guitar in #2. Dunno why, but I've always liked that sound.
those drums sound so good.. this whole thing is so nice
Frickin beautiful. The third track almost made me cry.
Thanks Cloudkicker to share your work Thanks again
I'm seriously fucking obsessed with Cloudkicker, it's so annoying. I can't stop listening, even though the mood of this is keeping me depressed, I crave it. I can't stop.
Shane Jones maybe check out Fade or Let Yourself Be Huge if you don't wanna be depressed haha
Shane Jones I don't get depression out of it. I find myself painting a flight thru an imaginary landscape. It's happy time for me! It reminds me of digging on atom heart mother, back in '73. Ahhh....
Can't be happier, thank you once again, youtube algorithms
I'm in love with this entire album......
He need to drop another album I got solitude but give us atleast 3 new ones stay consistent...This guy is amazing 👏
Spectacular, as expected. A genuine treasure.
I went without even knowing about this album for almost a whole year. Then I discover it, and then I realize its the best one.
This album got intimate with my ears
The honeymoon is next month.
This album is like a good steak; it takes some time to digest.
B. Sharp.
Which brings us to the first letter of his projects name. I'm digging the coincidence.
?
Logan Finn B # is C. What is the first letter in Cloudkicker?
Yes I understand that. But it wasn't clever at all...
Amusing coincidences don't have to be.
Alex Schuster amusing?
I am and will always be a Cloudkicker fan love the music
Fuck me, I love Cloudkicker, why haven't I listened to this. I'll slap myself for this.
same
hammypants shame! ha
shit yeh, agreed!
Agreed, *bitchslapping* myself right now
A smile came on my face at every new rythm or break
Beautyfull!
Incredible
This album pointed out a real flaw w my speakers .....they don't get loud enough...
Man.. Cloudkicker NEVER fails at greatness. Very awesome.
I love this
Best thing I've heard in a long time. Thanks for making this, Mr. Sharp.
Good fuckn job ben , it's making my brain melt.
Cloudkicker is back with heavy riffs! Love it!
21:52 - 26:04 is Ben Sharp's greatest piece of music no doubt
UA-cam search "norway train" and have this one playing in another tab. Turn off the lights and take a little trip.
New tuning, new masterpiece!
21 people are so fucking wrong! That's crazy. This music is really really awesome!!!
Zaymon
Oo Wholesome album. 10/10
+Janusz Okoń I keep bouncing off the roadway...

The drop at 5:25, my god
wow!, such reference, much doge, wow! amaze!
I would love to hear Tool performing 3) live : )
Webastyczny Tool somehow reminds me of Cloudkicker, even tho Tool is suffused with lyrics.
ben's a beautiful G.
...yes...
Cloudkicker is touring! I wonder if Ben got signed. He said he didn't want to tour before. I'm going nevertheless.
Meaningless Self If you didn't hear, the band Intronaut is gonna be the band backing him for his set! Gonna be so sick.
Kaleb Birdsong Yeah! I'm going to see them in end of April. I love Intronaut too, I've been listening to them since like 2007.

Dat build up doe 15:31
Nate Hughes When I first heard this, I transcended. Like math metal breakdowns and Sharp just had to blend it with atmospheric, post rock/metal.
song titles remind me of the red sparrows. That being said, this album is crazy good
27:58 :
4 - 2 - 1 - 2 - 3 - 2 - 1 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 1 - 2 - 1 - 2 - 1 - 2 - 7
- 2 - 1 - 2 - 3 - 2 - 1 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 1 - 2 - 1 - 2 - 1 - 2 - 4
I have messages him a couple times and he always replies. just write him and tell him how big of a fan you are.
34:30 Sludge metal? xD
I REPORTED THIS VIDEO!........For being too amazing for my earholes....
this misic is cool as much lievde is in this music
2024 anyone?
The title of the third song though
