THE STORY
The Austrian artist Maria Lassnig tells us the story of her life in a ballad with 14 verses, beginning at the beginning - her birth - and ending with her life as today (1992):
As the narrator of this ballad and in various costumes, she sings of the different stages of her life, her lonely mother in childbed, the antics of her school-mates, her studies, her loves, the time in Paris and in the United States...
Simultaneously - in the background - we see the animated drawings of the scenes of her life. While Maria Lassnig completed her other animation films in New York in the Seventies, mostly working alone; this film was made in team-work.

tolle geschichte, toller inhalt. leider ist die technische qualität grausig. nicht mal der green screen richtig eingesetzt, somit ein loch in der lassnig zb bei 0:33.

Wenn Ihnen der Inhalt nicht gut genug ist, müssen Sie die Technik kritisieren. 1991-92 drehten wir vor schwarzen Tüchern, es war ein riesiger Aufwand die Hintergründe einzubauen. Es gab weder Blue- noch Greenscreen, es gab keine Video-Software und keinen Computer. Den Ton konnte ich mit einem ATARI und einer 4-Sput Tonbandmaschine darüber zaubern. Es gab kein großes Studio, alles eigene Handarbeit, auch die Musik. Und kaum Geld für dieses Projekt. Die Berliner Filmfestspiele 1992 erkannten den Wert dieses Filmes und präsentierte ihn im Wettbewerb. Die Technik und diese Löcher sind einTeil dieses Werkes. Wir hattten von Georges Melies gelernt.
