Jesus was saying that he too-
will endure sufferings of different kinds…and because of his faith in his Father, knowing he was born for the sole purpose of saving all who choose to believe in him, from eternal life in hell, he was able to endure his appointed earthly suffering.
He became the sacrifice for all. With endurance and focus on this most important truth we too can be spending eternity in Heaven with God, one glorious day.
There will be no more suffering from all who are finally living in His presence.

Christ has completed His work. Mercy and Grace now abound. It's up to each person to force their way into the Most Holy Place, and people have been doing so since the days of John the Baptist. Colossians 3:1-2, "You have been raised to life with Christ, so set your hearts on the things that are in heaven, where Christ sits on his throne at the right-hand side of God. Keep your minds fixed on things there, not on things here on earth."
Ephesians 3:12, "]In union with Christ and through our faith in him we have the boldness to go into God's presence with all confidence."
Yes, only on account of Christ's completed work we were all granted access. Hebrews 10:19, "We have, then, my brothers and sisters, complete freedom to go into the Most Holy Place by means of the death of Jesus." Sadly, many are still waiting for some event that would take them in 🤷🤔

@@delnayo9474 very true. I think people forget that we are to delight ourselves in THE LORD, not our earthly possessions. As Paul came to realize, all is loss once one understands the value of knowing christ. If people think God desires for all believers to have earthly prosperity, they have yet to realize this truth.

There's a reason for everything. Sometimes it can delay or sometime it can be immediate . What is important that God is in control.
God is never late, God is always on time. When God makes a promise, God keeps it. God is faithful.
I trust in the perfectly consistent love and guidance of God through the Holy Spirit, not the inconsistent misinterpretations and ignorance of man.

If I didn’t hold onto the hope that God would bring about good things in my life (bring me out of my darkness), things would have been very difficult moving forward (I would have little to no hope). I had lost my job and God used this scripture verse to breath life into me and persevere. I’m blessed with an amazing job now. Also scripture is clear God rewards those who earnestly pursue Him (Heb 11:6). So I reject this teaching that God doesn’t have good plans for us. He does! It might be different than what we envision, but they are still good. My life is a testimony of God’s goodness and grace and provision. Stay strong and trust God! He will never leave us nor forsake us! (Heb 13:5).

John Bugno God will bring you out of spiritual darkness and the consequences of rebellion and and unrepentant standing before him. But Jesus teaches us that we will suffer for the sake of the gospel, just as he did, all of his disciples were martyred. The early church expanded in the face of severe persecution.
@@andrewcourtney1328 You are not the early church, my brother. Neither you nor I are being persecuted or martyred as they. Are there brothers and sisters around the world, suffering as the early church? Absolutely. Will we suffer for the sake of the gospel? Absolutely. But it will not look the same--at least now. Look...the average christian, in America, works a 9 to 5, goes to college, gets a degree, gets a career, starts a family. Also, the bible is clear that we dont chose where we live or what family we are born to. I'm encouraged by the sacrifice and lives of the early church and Apostles. But, my friend, I'm not going to look at blessings as something bad or evil because brothers before me didn't have them. I can't help that we live in two different context.

@@daysofold5553 nobody is saying that blessings are bad/evil or that God doesn't want to bless His people. What is being said here is that those scriptures are taken out of context to where people are expecting temporal comfort, ease, and luxury by a misinterpretation of the text. That is not what God is promising. It's not to say that God can't or won't give someone those things but when these passages are understood within this context, the person who puts their hope in this has placed their hope and expectation in a promise that God isn't necessarily making to His people and when that happens, we've misplaced our hope. And even to put our hope in a blessing that is promised, without trusting God in His infinite wisdom to do good with whatsoever is happening would be a form of idolatry. We don't put our hope in the blessing but in the one who is able to bless. When the blessing becomes our hope, it becomes our god - we've taken our eye off of Jesus as our Savior and made the blessing our savior instead.
Thank God for a man of God who knows the heart of God and has the courage to preach the Word of God as it is taught in the Bible. Our comfort is not God’s primary concern; it’s all about the maturation of our character.
What a refreshing and truthful message. People wants comfort when Christ or God never said that. He said he would get us through it. There is nothing too big that He cannot get us through it, we just need to trust and walk it out...which I must say is the hardest thing ever.

If you're not a believer, you're facing the problem alone. If you're a child of God, you're facing the problems with God in your corner. I know exactly how you feel. If GOD does allow suffering, it's always for a good reason.GOD doesn't rescue right away because He isn't a get out of jail free card. I had epilepsy for years. I drank, did drugs, partied with loose women, etc, etc. God allowed suffering in my life to get my attention and to get me to clean up my act and get saved. I suffered for years. Then they stopped. I've been off my meds and seizure free for years. God is good and merciful. I cant guarantee everyone will be healed, but if HE is willing to help someone like me, why wouldn't HE help you? Never give up hope. Never lose your faith.
We are to walk the road God has put us on. Don't let your heart be troubled he is in the valley of the shadow of death with you. God bless

How to put a time frame for prayer ? As he was telling, when prayer won't get answered , people get disappointed.
If it's God's will that we should all be prosperous, healthy, non-suffering, long lived individuals it sure didn't work for Jesus and His apostles did it!! But boy did they ever change the world and give us all hope. Praise God forever and His Word that will never pass away.

Yes we should be praying that all goes well as with our brothers and sisters in Christ as John said here was during this greeting to Gaius. David Platt also said that we should pray for this but this verse is not a doctrinal statement but a greeting so this is what we pray for it but God in His sovereignty knows how short or long it will be before our suffering/ trials end. Let's listen to James and count it all pure joy when we suffer trial of various kinds because the testing of our faith produces steadfastness. Let's also heed to the words of Peter and let's not be surprised when we face a fiery trial as if something strange is happening to us but let's rejoice inasmuch as we share with Christ's suffering. 1 Peter 4:1 - Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,

JAMES BURSON, yes I agree. The purpose of me posting this scripture is that God does want us to be in good health. Most people believe that God is not interested in our physical health. However, that is not true God does want us to be physically healthy. This is why Christ spent the vast majority of His time healing others of physical diseases. I don’t believe that this verse or Jeremiah 29:11 means that it’s God’s will for us to be prosperous in everything. Joseph is a perfect example of this in the Bible. He had to go through suffering to save all of the known world at that time.

Is your picture of God's plans the same as God's plans? Did the apostles' lives look like health and wealth? What about the early Church? Wasn't the early Church persecuted till death?
What about the Iranian Church? They're the fastest growing church in the world and they're being persecuted for following the Lord. Same with our Asian brothers, and also many of our African brothers.
Did Jesus have a lot of money? Didn't Jesus say that if we want to follow Him we must remember "The Son of man [didn't] have a place to lay His head"? (Luke 9:57-62)

I get what this pastor is saying but YOU can’t tell me God doesn’t want the best for me more then I want the best for me. That doesn’t mean I need to be super rich. But enough to pay my bills have some for myself and give some for those in need.

Jeremiah 29.11 only applies for people on trials. A message of hope to those who lost loved ones, in distress, in bondage, on death bed, lost everything, struck with fatal disease, felt betrayal..etc. Yes His plans for us is to be good and not evil and its path is not easy. Going through tests and trials in life will certainly get us there .
Jesus proclaims that you'll be hated for His namesake. He said, "in this life you will suffer persecution." For this reason we have the Comforter.
In this world you will suffer.In Christ you wont.whatever you say He will give. according to Numbers 14:28

Healing is a promise , but suffering is obvious for Christians!
I suffered for 13 years with a sickness and was under medication. I always thought God is unfair letting people live a normal life but here I am with a sickness . Then , Isaiah 53 changed my life .Jesus died on the cross for my sins and took those whips for my health . This truth set me free. I was healed and I don't have that sickness anymore and it's been six years with good health and all by the Grace of God .
Healing is the will of God!

Jesus said to come to him for rest, that is what I intend to do. Jesus told us to pray to deliver us from evil and not to lead us into into temptation.
Temptation is a type of testing. God knows what we can and cannot stand.

The Lord will rescue those who love Him & protect those who trust in His Name... when I call upon Him, He will answer.... Context is everything. God is telling them to settle in for a long stay. It's so great that then as now, God doesn't just wave goodbye and say, "See ya, bye, have a good trip." He's there with us as he was with the captives. Hard times are meant to draw us closer and show his glory. "Man's extremity is God's opportunity." William Carey.
It brings such relief when someone quotes old testament prophecy correctly. Man I love to hear this stuff cause this is how my life is most of the time. Being told I should be rich and healthy isn't my life experience most of the time. Part of that I will admit is because of chastening. I only got a 2 year degree because I chose to marry. I was celebrate 10 years and couldn't wait any longer. I'm not wealthy because I followed Christ not because of a lack of faith. Great word brother keep doing these short corrective videos. Let's repair the temple that was built by the apostles. Some of it has been destroyed by false teachers. For instance we hear if you eat right you will live longer. Jesus said you can't add one day to your life by worry. Proverbs offers some extra days but it's not by food. This is only one example of the temple in ruins.
Sadly not many people listen to you, because false teaching has more inference. keep up your good work, preaching from God's word. God bless you and will give you strength and wisdom
Sadly, when the proper interpretation of “popular” passages such as this is given, most take it as an attack on their faith and grates against the core of what they have always been taught and believe. I have been guilty of this myself in the past. Scary and sad.
Obedience to the teachings of Jesus Christ is the key. You will enjoy life to the full. All unbelievers are welcome to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and become members of the royal family of Jesus Christ and of his Kingdom there will be no end.

As I've gotten older , I find myself a little less concerned that every pastor I like to listen to has to line up with my views on Scripture 95 to 99% of the time. David Platt is one such pastor I stopped listening to for a little while just because of one message he preached I didn't like...I was wrong on making that my standard for listenership. David Platt loves the Lord genuinely and he does with all his heart want to please the Lord...he got this message 100% correct and I support his position on this one...even tho I know it won't be popular. i was using faith in jeremiah 29-11 to answer my prayer but nothing is happening and suddenly its all clear to me now. our soul is ultimately more precious than our life here on earth so whatever is Gods plan whether to endure suffering so our soul might be save then we should be thankful that God that he promise us he will help us endure the suffering of this life ,
Thank you, Pastor Platt. My daughter and son-in-law live by the false interpretation of Jeremiah 29:11. They have 2 amazing children - 13 and 9. They have enrolled them in $12,000/child per year Christian schools, also preaching this. Yes, they have had 12 years of unbelievable financial comfort. And, those of us in the family who have adversely been affected by the pandemic,well we're just not praying enough and reading the Bible enough. But, after hearing you and the pastors from my church, obviously there is another reason for there prosperity. God Bless You.

I agree. Everybody looks around where the scripture says even as your soul prosper's. Talkin about your growth and maturity in Christ, being transformed into the image of Christ and producing fruit walking in the spirit. God wants us in relationship to submit and to give our whole life everything to him. All we need is for the Lord to bless us and to provide what we have need of, not our wants and selfish desires.

It's cruel, because if someone isn't healthy, wealthy, and great, the people that believe this don't ask, "did I interpret the Scripture wrong?" No. They instead point at the person suffering and say, "you must not have enough faith, because look at you." It's downright cruel.
What a good explanation of this verse I fully receive for myself, my family, friends, colleagues, neighbours, acquintances, those around me, my opponents and the body of Christ while binding oneself to have a future and a hope in Christ while binding to hell all focus on harmful dealings for one's future in Christ, while I bind to hell being unequally yoked with and have any common share with any evildoer serving satan in having no hope and a future in Christ and those trying to ruin the future and hope of another, in accordance with jeremiah 29:11, philippians 3:19, 2 corinthians 6:14-18, matthew 6:24. If you want to be healed do as James the Just writes " Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. It is way better to suffer and/or be unwealthy WITH and obeying God. We have plenty of examples such as Job’s and we surely can act the same way, trusting only in the Lord and being able to declare “I know my Redeemer lives”. Some put their trust in horses and riches but we will make mention of the name of our Lord. Regardless the financial situation, lack of health, for we know and believe that our God has got plans for us. This is way better❤

Joseph was prospered for his obedience and God is not a man that he should lie. His promises are true and he faithfully keeps them no matter how long it takes to full fill. When Jesus healed people he always asked them if they believe they can be healed. Then he would say go your faith has healed you. Yes all you need is to believe that the Lord is able to give you and you definitely receive. It is his will that we are in good health and that we have enough provision every time. Sickness and poverty is from the devil. Jesus came so he could destroy the evil works of the devil. We believe him and he will continue to heal and prosper us as long as we remain rooted in him and obey him.He said ask any thing you want in my name and it will be given. He also said when you ask believe that you have already received.
If Jesus suffered then his true disciples will also suffer, He said it himself.

Some have wrecked situations as they come to Christ and need hope and encouragement. The so-called prosperity preachers, a BIG percentage of their message is full of hope. And God uses them to feed these new believers with milk and soft food of hope & encouragement. With time, God takes His people through other stages and they move away from that, and get deeper, to feeding on meat and hard stuff, and onwards to maturity. Once I fed on such at my infancy, and how grateful I was! The message no longer resonates much as I've now grown. But millions are at infancy at any time and still need that hope. While there are some who exploit the message for own gain, it is not for us, brethren, to criticize that which The Lord apportions to another for a purpose. He who started the good work in many brings it to perfection - He gives understanding with time, and His chosen feed and enjoy the meat of the word. Judge not, but love. If there be a prosperity preacher, so shall you know them by what they bear, you will know them by their fruits.

Unfortunately the modern day nicolaitans, hired hand and wolf in sheeps clothing preaching thier prosperity are causing Many to fall yet the true living God never lets go of his children on the path to eternity.
I don't believe in the prosperity gospel and neither do I believe in the poverty gospel! It's like there's a belief that you are more holy if you're broke and poor. The devil is a lie! The main people who preach this have a roof over their head, clothes on their backs, more than one car and money in the bank. I'm not going to feel guilty because God has been generous to me. Prosperity Gospel and Poverty Gospel are two opposite extremes. We seem to go from one extreme to the other out of fear of becoming like the other. I'm staying away from both. And these doctrinal polices need to be rebuked!!!! No one knows truth but them. They can see everything wrong in every other stream but there's. Pharisees had that same problem.

I understand what he is saying..... I grew up in what some call the "Word of faith" or "prosperity gospel" teaching. Everything Pastor David has stated are statements stated by my pastors. I can attest that my pastors never led me astray by NOT telling me the other side of the truth thats in the world and that is, we will face troubling times....Period! BUT God! God will lead us through, Just like He did, Abraham, Noah, Job, Joseph. David. Etc if we trust Him. There is a common theme with these guys. These guys all dealt with troubles, sin, heartache and at the same time, because the Love and trust God, God made them to prosper at the end of it all.
Lets think about this here.. Jesus taught us to pray, Gods will on earth as it is in Heaven!! Why would we want to go to heaven, if heaven is just like earth with sickness, heartache and pain...Etc Gods will is goodness and greatness for our lives especially under the New Covenant. Many people are teaching an old covenant message. We are under a new covenant with God. Our Job is to study what the new covenant is, accept it and live under it!
We must begin to see God as a Father and not just a captain, commander and chief that gives orders!! As any father would want their children to prosper and be in good health, our God the father wants the same for us. His desires does not neglect the fact that we will not have to Fight the Good fight of faith. His desires does not neglect the fact that satan is the prince of this world and satan is constantly seeking whom he shall devour.
Maybe the prosperity message and word of faith might bring balance and too many pastor that teach only the old covenant view of God.
If you're believing by faith it might not happen right away. but if you continue in your faith and don't stop it will happen!!!!!!!!!!

If you wana suffer then suffer for CHRIST not for yourself... always suffering for your own self is a curse... suffering for children, suffering for your life, suffering for money, suffering with sickness, suffering with debts, suffering with addiction, its all not the part Of Gods divine will... however if we are to suffer then we should suffer for His name and Message.. bearing His Cross and while spreading HIS love message we might to be suffered but not for my own self but for Him alone.. if I always do suffer for myself God cannot be glorified but suffering for Him and His Name will certainly bring glory and honor unto Him... well i am not saying we are immune from problems and suffering but God has the way to rescue us before we drawn..
