    Been looking forward to part 3 and I haven’t been disappointed I have to admire your tenacity and thought process just brilliant. I’ve been pushing spanner’s for 47 years and would never suspected the vacuum pump you’ve obviously invested heavily in quality equipment and information technology not cheap but proves it’s worth: sadly there’s so many garages out there that don’t invest but expect there mechanics to fix cars - thanks for sharing your knowledge Peter your at the top of your game.

    Excellent video
    I thought I might need a vacuum pump, so rang local Mazda dealers. Some want over £300, but EMG Boston and Donalds of Peterborough will sell one for £120. Don't ask for the part number, just say you want the vacuum pump, apparently its a cheaper kit, something to do with warranty claims from Mazda

    • @kennedysgarage3281
      @kennedysgarage3281 Місяць тому

      I think the dealers are supplied with a vacuum pump kit (which also includes gaskets 'o rings' etc at a reduced price. I may be intended to deal with warranty claims and/or a recall on the vacuum pump (certainly for some cars up to 2016). Most dealers don't pass this discount on, but worth ringing around, or if none are local ebay has some of these kits around £180

      The intake manifold blocking & exhaust camshaft / hydraulic tappets are the most likely cause of your problem but it would be worth looking at the exhaust pressure sensor ‘A’ also. The sensors fail & the adjoining pipe blocks causing problems on deAcceleration. I’ll copy and paste a video for you to look at 😉👍👍

I cleaned the entire intake manifold and replaced the vacuum pump, but when the engine warmed up and I depressed the brake pedal p0101 and scbs returned. Then I went to a mazda service and they rewrote the new operating system to the computer, now after about 150km the error did not return. Very interesting video. Thank you for your great work and tenacity until reaching a final diagnosis. I have same error codes as you and I suspect of same issue. However, the official dealer says that issue is caused by carbon buildup and the solution is to change MAP sensor, clean egr, decarbon engine and change multiple gaskets. Would you be so kind to share TSB you showed in the video? It could be useful to try persuading dealer to check vacuum pump first before trying other thing that could be more expensive. Thanks a lot.

      An intake system decarb is the most common starting point. But can generally be proven if needed or not by removing the air intake pipe from throttle body on the intake manifold & the Map sensor to examine both. Hi Daniel, I have come across this P0101 fault 100’s of times now. You have to start by cleaning the intake manifold if you don’t have any knowledge of it being done prior. But it can be proved by removing the MAP sensor & air intake pipe at the throttle body, then looking in with a borascope.
      If your car has more than 120,000kms or 80,000mls it will need a camshaft kit. It can be proven but only after disassembling the injectors & rocker cover. Also clean the MAP sensor when it’s out, this will definitely fix your car 100%

      @@Amay12675 yes. It would stop the intake manifold & ports from getting blocked. But that wouldn’t reduce the likelihood of the engine failing, this happens due to injector seals/washers failing and compression/exhaust gas getting into the crankcase & clogging up oil feeds & jet’s over the exh camshaft.
      This only my opinion 🤔

    Hi Peter, I could do with your help. I'm getting the P0101 (only) code with the CEL, the cars symptom is on mid-full acceleration, there is a flat spot and judder/misfire between 2.5rpm to 3k+rpm. Any ideas what to focus or look towards?
    The car is a 2016 Mazda6 2.2 diesel Manual
    Thanks in advance

    • @kennedysgarage3281
      @kennedysgarage3281 Рік тому +1

      P0101 is air flow related, so I would start with the most common cause which is the intake manifold and port’s getting blocked with carbon. Also make sure the manifold absolute pressure sensor is clean.
      After that you could be focusing on injector washers/ seal’s & exhaust camshaft being worn. I have videos on all of these repairs to help you carry out the work if needed 🙏🙏👍

    Hi does bad injector seals delute oil which damage cams then it whacks vac pump..? How come bad vac pump causes MAF P0101 codes..?

    • @kennedysgarage3281
      @kennedysgarage3281 2 роки тому

      Bad injector seals allows carbon to build up in the crankcase/oil system. Which in turn blocks the oil spray jets over the exhaust camshaft, which wears the camshaft. A worn camshaft doesn’t open the exhaust valves enough, this effect the air quantity entering the engine (P0101).
      Then the metal shavings from camshaft damage the vacuum pump 🤔
      Does this help?

    In the previous video about the vacuum pump, you performed a test with a diagnostic computer. Shouldn't a damaged vacuum pump give a P258B error?

    • @kennedysgarage3281
      @kennedysgarage3281 Рік тому +2

      Yes absolutely correct, if the vacuum pump is very bad you will definitely get a P258B brake booster pressure sensor fault. But in my case the vacuum pump wasn’t too bad and the brake booster pressure sensor didn’t see a fault but the turbo control system didn’t have enough vacuum to operate correctly. I’ll put in a link for another video to watch on diagnosing a vacuum pump 👍👍

    • @andrewwest7195
      @andrewwest7195 2 місяці тому +1

      Did you check your exhaust pressure sensor pipe and intake manifold pressure sensor? There could be a software update available too. The fault conditions for this fault to set are fairly specific. The accelerator pedal position needs to be zero and it needs to see the fault for 5 seconds iirc before it logs the fault. It also needs to see the same fault twice on two separate ignition cycles before it brings the mil on. The abs, city brake etc lights can come on first when the first P0101 fault is logged. Egr flow shows as zero for both egr cooler bypass and egr when the vehicle is on overrun in the condition to set the code. The code won’t log if there is a passive regeneration taking place ( which with this fault occurring can cause the dpf to block quicker as it in itself will prevent regeneration taking place once the eml is ill7minated.

      Thank you for the information. I do have one more issue with it that I found: On the live data when the car was idling, most of the data was within parameters except one, which was over the limit. The "Turbocharger Compressor Inlet Pressure Sensor A" which, according to the tester the range should be between 0 and 100 kPa, on idle it was sitting at 104 kPa, so red colour. When hard accelerating on the motorway, it was going to 200+ kPa

    • @kennedysgarage3281
      @kennedysgarage3281 2 місяці тому

      @@Telorayou the last reply was a fantastic & well explained response 💪💪
      That intake pressure sensor A normally sits at 96kpa at idle. Just under atmosphere pressure, due to the turbo changeover flap being closed under 2000rpm. It then jumps up to around 200kpa or so once the engine speed goes over 2000rpm and the trap door opens for the larger low pressure turbo.
      The only time I have ever been caught with the P0101 is with hydraulic tappets getting soft and not opening the intake & exhaust valves on time 🤔🤔

      They are quite a few items that fail very regularly on these engines alright. They have revised the engine design from around 2017 on, they seem to be quite a bit better 🤞🤞
      For me a lot of owners & garages alike are getting stuck on repairing them. And we are getting very familiar with them and every repair on them is getting faster & easier. Which is a good thing for my business & something I haven’t ever had the privilege of doing before, so yes I do like them 😬😬😬
