You guys rock when it comes doing stuff like this, and expect problems for sure - the cars is in a bad way but the way you diagnose and explain makes excellent content. Look forward as always to seeing this develop.
Find the starter motor relay bridge it / bypass it to identify your initial issue . If you bypass and press ignition and nothing happens then you know you have a mechanical fault if I’m not mistaken however if you bypass the relay and starter engages then you defo have an electrical issue / can issue . You will defo need a star machine regardless to clear cash data as normal generic machines won’t work. Also what you can do is take live from the battery straight to the start fuse which is going to be in the foot wall then red wires and give that live maybe a bit easier but will defo get it cranking
There is. It's in the boot near the battery and kills all power from the battery I think (certainly the majority). I don't think it's that unless they're powering the display and ecu from a separate source.
Are you still running a charger on the old battery? If so get it changed then reset the fault codes a couple of times and see what remains. The 2x trackers and ghost system aren't helping either so trace all the wires back and make sure nothing is missed and solder joints are good. Hope the plan is engine out to inspect the chassis once you know it's a runner? While the carpets are up is it worth checking the floor pan for ripples and kinks too?
Absolutely mental work already, sick amounts of progress and the car will be worth it when its done. Got some sick options on it too. Have you checked the engine/gearbox didnt shunt back and bork any connections to the starter? It sounded like all the wiring work was done and theres a distinct click coming from the engine bay when your pressing start. I'm thinking something with starter but you guys know better. Next one cant come sooner!
