I think your bag is gorgeous 🧡 a vintage bag that is still in good condition is to me a treasure. I love spinning my own story about the bag’s previous life. Even though it wasn’t my grandma using it, someone’s grandma did and it really thrills me.

Your new baby is beautiful! The color is gorgeous and for patent it’s in terrific condition. I don’t see separation of the finish which is amazing considering its age. We all used to wear handbags on our arm and you’ll get used to carrying it that way. I have a turquoise Chanel patent that somehow I got an ink mark on the front so I haven’t been using it. I’m considering adding a bunch of family autographs all over it and using it as my summer everyday bag. Enjoy your new beauty - as we used to say ‘wear her in good health’. Cheers!
Thank you! 🥰. I’ve had this bag for some months and I’ve been enjoying her very much. I am really shocked how it’s retained the color for so long. You should definitely wear yours more! Just ignore the tiny mark or do that with the autographs. It would be so unique!
Yes to preloved. There's beauty in imperfection and flaws are a sign of life. Personally I would rather be at ease with everything I own. My mom was always so careful with her belongings to the point that it was a running joke that the bottoms of her shoes were so unmarked that she must hover over the ground an inch or so. I appreciate taking care of things but I also let myself live and enjoy them. My 2 cents and I'm glad you found a bag you love!

She’s a beauty Dawn. I adore older Chanel bags and this one is fantastic , the colour is beautiful. I’ve started watching 5ft nothing., a lovely lady with a Chanel collection of older models to die .

Hi Dawn! I love vintage bags. I think they are well made compared to some of the bags made today. I bought two vintage Chanel bags, one from 1992 and the other from 1996. These are the years my children were born. It will be nice to give them these bags one day.

Hi Dawn, thank you for sharing your less than perfect bag. Anything will have signs of wear, and I agree with you even if I bought a brand new bag, I am just going to use it and enjoy it. There are always duds and traps everywhere, it's better to be educated to make informed decisions. In fact I always feel that if a bag has signs of wear, it would have a higher probability of being genuine in the preloved scene - IMHO. It's always a gem to buy something from 1st generation.
Hi Grace! 🥰. That’s a good point! Having a big of wear will sometimes reveal if the bag is authentic. Games will not be in great shape after years of use.

I feel the same! I love buying new; but for me it’s just more realistic to buy pre loved. I don’t mind small imperfections and have had a few less than perfect bags; and I love them all the same.
Hi David! 🥰. Yes, it’s good to be open especially when there are fixable flaws, like a scratch or some sort of dirt that you can clean. Especially when you can save some money or get a bag that’s no longer made!

I'm right there with you, Dawn. I only recently ventured into the pre-loved market. Just contemporary bags - 2 Monsacs & a Cole Haan. (Jackie inspired the Cole Haan, the best of the 3, a beautiful green baguette.💚) The Monsacs (My Bag) were relatively expensive contemporary bags in their day, but they didn't age well. I lucked out with my turquoise shoulder bag & cream top handle. OK, this is way too long. The point is, pre-loved is fun too.😂❤🌻

The bag was not originally orange, it was pink. Hence, the pink stitching and interior. Patent leather yellows over time.
This bag was originally orange with pink stitching as seen here. The color is even everywhere. The stitching is pink. Chanel released this colorway on flap bags as well as this bag. White will yellow and light pink can yellow, but this is orange and always was.
Hi Dawn, I think you got a great deal! You do seem to know how to tackle most issues and I think that is what makes your preloved purchases worth it. I buy mostly preloved but in excellent to very good condition. Not afraid to clean or use a leather conditioner, but that’s about as much knowledge and skill that I have. Also don’t mind a few “marks”…that way I don’t worry about me making the first!!!🥰
Hi Cori! 🥰. I would say the majority of my bags were bought new, and I do try to get preloved in as good condition as I can. If I see an issue that I know will not turn out well if I try to fix it, I’ll pass. Unless it’s a mark that’s not prominent or on the inside, in that case I don’t worry too much. And yes, if someone has already left a mark, it takes the fear out!
Hi Dawn! I think it's worth it, particularly since the discolorations are not noticeable unless one really looks. Also, you get to enjoy it without worrying too much about using it. As you said, if there are small defects that we are aware of in advance and can work with, then that's fine. That's why we also enjoy watching Jackie and how she rehabs her bags! I am still learning how to care for luxury bags so anything below very good is just out of reach at the moment for me because I’m no repair expert. Hi Raelle! 🥰. This bag was listed in very good condition, and it is, considering the age! Vernis is very difficult to improve, but since the problems looked like they were on the surface, I thought I would take a chance and it paid off! I definitely don’t recommend buying something that needs a professional overhaul unless that’s what you want to do, although you can find some vintage Chanel bags at great prices that with a few hundred dollars into them could be like new. But, if you want to look for bargains, practice your shining up skills on cheaper bags before trying something more expensive!

Hi Dawn, I’m so reluctant to purchase a pre loved bag. I could handle some wear, etc but I would be very disappointed if the bag smelled and it wasn’t revealed by the seller. Just not brave I guess!

Thanks Maryann! 🥰. With smells, they can be very subjective. Some people are more sensitive than others and what might not be strong to you might be intolerable to someone else. I never got a bag with an offensive odor, but if I did I know of several ways to deal with it, such as baking soda, charcoal packs, and just airing it out. Bags can get storage odors just from not using them and from being stored where they don’t get enough ventilation. Fashionphile always discloses smells, so I would feel confident that if something was present that it would be listed.
Pretty cool, Dawn. I’m really glad you took a chance on it and it worked out great for you. I only have one preloved item and it is a vintage Gucci GG Plus clutch. It didn’t have any bad smells but it does have some small corner wear and it was missing a zipper pull; but the zipper works great. I added a replacement zipper pull and I am trying to find a way to make it look older. I haven’t worn it yet, but I plan to this summer on vacation. Thanks for sharing!

Hi. It’s a beautiful bag. It looked beautiful in person too. I’m getting a bit more accepting of imperfect bags due to the insane prices of new bags but I’ve been very lucky with Fashionphile and the condition of the last few bags. I paid less than retail but still very high prices. TFS🧡
Cami! 🥰. It’s rare to get a great deal on Fashionphile, but if you’re patient, some bags that don’t sell end up marked down a lot. That’s what happened with this.

The bags I love the most and have the most of are from the fifties, sixties, and seventies. So they are pre loved. You can find great deals. I love your collection!💕💕😇

Hi Diane! 🥰. Thank you, same! I tend to buy preloved when it’s an older style that’s not available anymore, but it does depend. Absolutely, it’s all according to how big the flaw is, where it is, etc. But, I think it’s good to be open to the possibility of getting a great bag that you might need to do a few tweaks on.

I think it's a stunning bag and you did well here! I remember when you purchased it and your tweeks since have made a difference! I only have two pre-owned - a Reissue and my latest beautiful little Ferragamo gancini black evening bag with chain, both in virtually new condition. Unfortunately though I'm picky about my things and am mostly very hesitant to go pre-owned, particularly with poor return policies on various sites.
Hi Amy! 🥰. The return policies are getting worse and worse. It’s always something to consider and factor in any time you buy preloved. I think the serial returners have ruined it for the rest of us.
I have seen this bag in person and she is gorgeous. I love the color and size. I don't mind a bit of hardware scratches but I would not buy a bag with smells or really bad corner wear but your bag is just beautiful. I would definitely take that off your hands! LOL

Hi thanks for the video, I remember when you first purchased that bag. Some bags we buy if we are willing to take the plunge are really diamonds in the rough. I just purchased a less than perfect bag from TRR. Sometimes I take a chance with them because the price is so good. That was this case. It was rated very good as it turned out to be I just received it yesterday. The only thing wrong is the front plate is more scratched than I thought it would be. The leather is near perfect and no bad smells. The price was low for a Celine C bag. I always feel good when I perceive that I can sell it for what I paid. I don't know if I love it yet but I have only had it a day. If I hadn't taken the plunge I probably would have over paid for it somewhere else. Time will tell. Thanks again for your insight on your Chanel bag.
Congratulations, Robin! 🎉. TRR does have great deals! Try using Brasso or Simichrome, a metal polish, on the plate. They are both gentle and usually help a lot! But that’s the kind of issue I’m willing to tackle and maybe live with if the price is right!
