Great shoot out. Love the sound of that OD too!

Cleaner distortion with the ay7. This is what Yngwie Malmsteen was shooting for in the beginning and you accomplished it. Wow!

Ay is less aggressive and smoother on the dirt channel... the clean channel to me it's a bit to wimpy. Remember you can always knock down a bit of aggressiveness with your volume and ton pots or you could add some with a od or boost pedal. To each their own :)

Hi there - this is the very first video I ever made. I have over 300 now. Figured some things out since. 😀

Very nice comparison. I have both a 12ay7 and 5751and will give them both a shot in V1 in a Marshall 40dsl.

You got one of "Good uns" they don"t normally sound that good at low vol.

the best tubes for this amp are vintage mullards, ge's tame the amp great for cleans with humbuckers or p 90's. old brimars and rca's work well too. tungsram and matsushita are cheaper nice sounding nos alternatives.

The GE sounds a lot sweeter. Both are nice but I enjoyed the 12AY7 more, especially clean.

@@VisualGuy Really enjoyed. Funnily enough today I compared a GE 12AY7 and a Mazda 12AX7 in my non NFL Princeton clone. In that case, I prefered the French Mazda.

Just me or does ay sound more "square", or fuzzy? For better or worse...
