Nice video, good catches of some buses that are being withdrawn from service, the NCBC and the O405NHs are definitely the highlights of the video. The Denning is pretty interesting as well, never ridden them before but I heard they are really good. Good catch with that CB60 Evo II on the 903, although it isn't on the full route but I've seen them a few times doing a few rounds on the 903, better than seeing the usual Gemilangs and Volgren Optimuses which bore us out.
Thanks! Always an interesting variety of buses seen at Box Hill. I find it interesting that the CB60 Evo II's aren't as common on the 903 these days when they used to be among the most common bus on the route along with the Merc O405NH 550's and the bubble buses. If you look closely you'll also see Ventura #858 in the video but it was laying over the whole time and didn't move out while I was there.
The station platforms also looked nicer before the early 2000s as they had a different maroon looking colour scheme and had planters on the pillars in the escalator area! :)
There r occasionally some K230UBs (particularly with the Custom Coaches CB60 Evo II body) that can do the full thing. Has happened a bit this year but it will be rarer for other Smartbus liveried buses like the Eggs, the Mercedes Benz O500LE with the Volgren CR228L body or the Ex Invicta K230UBs to do the full route.
Dept of Transport Victoria, please make use of Platform 1 at Box Hill. Everytime I've gone through this station it bugs me that the infrastructure is there but its wasted. Please lay a track and find a use for the platform!
I agree. I have often wondered why they don't have a third or fourth track all the way to Blackburn. Have platform 1 for Flinders Street stop all stations, platform 2 Flinders express, platform 3 Belgrave/Lilydale express, platform 4 stop all Belgrave/Lilydale. Can have a third track through laburnum that the express trains share, direction determined by the time of day
Platform 1 was originally in use between 1983 and 1987 while the shopping centre was being built as during that time the station only had two platforms and had temporary scaffolding ramps going down from Station Street to the platforms which is where the bus and carpark ramps are today.
I noticed the text. It says Box Hill was rebuilt between 1983-85? WRONG. It was almost complete in 1983 because us students from Swinburne Tech used to wag school and jump on trains. Box Hill was well and truly completed in 1983. There were no works going on there in 84 or 85 tomy knowledge.
Used the Lilydal/Belgrave trains heaps in the past.
Not so much the buses or trams
Memories ❤

By the way busofdoom, I like the music used in the waking part, it is eerie but also funny and 👍

I always get a little bit of vertigo going up those escalators
you should make a compliation video of all the bus stop bells in Melbourne including the old school one as most of them ar gone and a really great
The station lift was also replaced in 2018 while the original lift had generic fixtures from the 1980s and was a generic or Otis lift.
Box hill is almost like a city loop station, but with no tunnel
can i get some tunnel with my city loop?
@@Joshontherails sure
Cool Vid, Much has changed since 2014
Indeed, I miss the days when you could see MAN SL200's here and other interesting buses including Merc O405NH's and the CB30 bodied MAN's.
When the pigeon rejects your command 😂😂😂 I feel sorry for u busofdoom
Send thoughts and prayers
The shopping centre is undergoing redevelopment so I’m curious to see what changes, if any, are made to the station and/or bus interchange
i rarely see smartbuses on the 903 anymore
There a few around
They run mainly between Mentone, or Mordialloc and towards Hidelburg
