And its fair to say not only Bollywood every North Indian has this kind of thinking. But now that I'm living in Chennai I must say this is the best place in my view. I have been in Mumbai, Pune, Noida and many other places. But Chennai for me stands out because I had no clue that it is so amazing. I have had most fun here and also discovered I love beaches. As a guy from Sikkim I can feel you.. Last time I was in Siliguri for the National Youth Parliament, some guys from other States had come to participate and we exchange pleasantries, and they literally asked me if we eat with chopsticks, and wear Chinese clothing and eat bats and dogs.. I mean like we do eat with Chopsticks but not always and Rahi baat Bats and dogs they're myth.. we don't eat bats and dogs here.. nad why would we wear Chinese dress..
I once visited a monastery in Bihar and there were literal people standing right behind me and talking in Hindi and called me "made in China", and calling me "Chinese" and stuff, they thought I couldn't understand Hindi 😭😭😭😭💀💀💀(I am from Sikkim as well)
NorthEast is Part of India Not China . Why people still don't understand this & there's a lot diversity in our nation . People of different states have different culture , language, food habits and clothing styles. Also we look so different from each other. Instead of appreciating the beauty eachothers culture we are trolling people. We should stop discriminating against all the Indian people who come from different states. Jai Hind ❤
As a Bengali person I relate to this whole "stereotyping one state based on few vague cliches" to a whole different level. All Bengalees speak with a weird accent, eat rasgulla 24×7, say "ami tomake bhalobasi" every time and listen to Tagore only. I mean we love our rosogollas and Tagore but come on, there's more than that.

Wait till you see a South Indian person stereotype you as a “labourer”on your face, the other stereotypes fall short. I don’t mind the stereotype of Bengalis being smart or loving Tagore or even food but just because you have migrant workers from some place calling that place poor and the people who clean our places and do manual labour are from Bengal hurts more :)
@@kimjongun4727 Excuse me, who is stopping you from talking about those issues? Just ranting no one talks about this and that doesn't solve your problems. People from other states cannot fight against the discrimination faced by you. It is *you* who has to step up and take the required action. Start a grassroot organisation and create public awareness. It's much easier in this era of social media. You can create a video talking about your problems, for example. Instead of doing something for your people you are whining and complaining under this video where a South Indian is addressing the issue affecting people of the south states...
It wasn't so bad when there was a strong Bengali influence in Bombay. I guess till the 70s and 80s. Bengali movies used to be regularly remade in Hindi. Legends such as Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Salil Chowdhury, etc etc Stereotyping Bengalis in Hindi films rose after that, I guess, also coinciding with our economic downfall..

@@princen.k.8210 ask me. One who is born and brought up in Delhi in an era when there was no real and authentic exposure to South Indian culture. 80s, 90s, etc. I can say things may have improved a little but not drastically. We should never take movies so lightly as it does portray or help creating perception about a culture and people. What has been portrayed through a movie character does leave the perception in people's from other region about the people and their culture which was showcased in that movie. I believe people should not be blamed for this. Its basically the movie director or the team who have access or seen the people and culture of that particular region and still decides to portray the character in that way.

Not to forget bare representation of other states. Being Telugu I am really happy that Tollywood movies are Box office success in National and International level, and as happy I am that these people with any success to South movie suddenly call it a Indian movie (which I am fine with) but believe me there isn't much change in reality. Recently my friend from Rajasthan called me a Tamilian. And in a party where Appadi podu was played my friends were saying it's your song pointing at me "a Telugite" and my other friend "a Malayalee". And it really pisses me how hard is it to remember 5 states. Also Meenakshi Sundereshwar was a cringe fest. It really made me sick.
Some of my southern friends also always say I am from Rajasthan even tho I am from Haryana and even I have told them thousands times where I am from. I don't think it's an issue that much. It is common to see people like me in both states even language is similar.
Keep calling that Rajasthani friend 'Bihari'. He will quickly remember you village's name, let alone your state's name. Believe me, this is coming from a North Indian guy. Not many of us like to be called 'that'.
Even if you tell them clearly about all the borders with different states they don't give a F to remember coz of their attitude of how they see South Indians as some low grade ppl.

As a Maharashtrian recently married to a Tamilian, I can say I had the same stereotypical understanding about South Indians. I do miss Maharashtrian food but I'm amazed by the variety of food we have here... and the beauty, cleanliness (in comparison to other cities in India), people, architecture, history of this beautiful place. I really had misconceptions about South Indians, I'm glad I married my husband 😁
Majority of North indians never seen south indian states...Bollywood movies create perception among people..there r so many stereotypes against South indians and north east people.. racists jokes...there is no representation of hindi speaking India properly,no north east representation..bollywood normalised stalking ,eve teasing through movies..they normalised racist jokes against north east people, south people..

It’s may be because you are from remote place in Maharashtra you have no idea. But most cities has South Indian population. PUNE has many research institutions, so obviously considerable southern population is here. Restaurant industry too has Kannada dominance,
Everything is gr8 but cleanliness is definitely not on Chennai's priority still they have long way to go on this.

Sm cn be said about North India as well ....we do hv lots of lang ,diff cultures, places etc bt acc to most of the Indians including east & South..North means Hindi & Up Bihar only ..no one talks about the racism Up & Bihari guys faces...literally ppl call thm Panipuriwallas ,Bhaiya nd Bimaru ...Hindi speaking ppl faces a lot of discrimination in South India ,Devnagri script board were broken nd burned in South ....Im from Uttrakhand Garhwali ethnicity ...bt hardly ppl knows about it ....bt the thing is unlike South & East Indians, North Indians nvr complain about such things ,they hardly care about it ...becoz for thm no identity is bigger thn Bhartiye identity nd r the most patriotic among all regions ..their culture got damaged by thousands of invasions ...thnks to it South Indian culture is untouched nd safe ..coz North acted as a shield ...nd yes nobody talks about the ethnic cleansing of North Indians like Rajsthni nd Punjabi by East Indians ...becoz this does not comes under their agenda...whatever !
Also you people eat fish, drink fish and sleep fish.

Really good editing, awesome portrayal of everyone's single point.
That's why we should call telugu movies as telugu movies ,not Indian

I friend from Punjab once asked me if South Indians live in tents (I'm from mysore and we met when we were students in the US in the 2000s). I was shocked by her ignorance. I don't think she meant to be rude, but her attitude was one of being dismissive of South Indian life/culture
We are "NOT" South Indians, we are Indians FROM South.
