- The World of Teddy Ruxpin debuted in 1985. Ken Forsse, the man behind the global phenomenon, had created an entirely fantastical universe populated by Illiops, Grunges, Fobs, and many other amazing creatures. The brand spanned talking toys, songs, books, plush dolls, and an animated series, all still beloved to this day. It was the culmination of a journey that began in the 1950s, with stops along the way with the Walt Disney Company and Sid and Marty Krofft. Forsse, who sadly passed away in 2014, lived the American Dream and left behind a legacy kept alive today by his family, his friends, and the company he founded: Alchemy II, Inc.

Even Whimsy Works had its own mythology!
This part felt smaller in scope in comparison to the first two parts, but felt bigger because it showed Ken's first attempt to bring Teddy to the screen. Those puppets and models they built for Teddy look just as good as the stuff built for the eventual TV movie that we got in 1985/1986. And the story is more in line with what we saw in the first five episodes of the animated series than the Adventure Series and the TV movie.
Great episode! Loved seeing these puppet prototypes and the sets, it's so interesting seeing these characters evolve. I had no idea Wooly was once a Whatchallit!

How sad. He was really down-hearted at that point, but sometimes things have a way turning around just not in the way you expected.

What happened to that 10 minute puppet pilot? Was it never shared?
Legal documents from the mid-80s state the only known copy was lost. For all we know it could be hiding in a basement somewhere. Find it and I’ll re-edit Part III, lol.

I wish I could have found it for the docuseries. It’s lost to time. A legal document from 1986 confirmed that nobody, Ken included, had a copy or knew where one was 😢.
