Really unfortunate battle, the judges thought that Inkie was cheating because he was using a second device called the Line 6 Helix ( A guitar effect pedal ) for extra effects and such. They just didn't understand how he was doing his stuff. Sadly the judges decided to default to voting for NME because most of them were convinced he was cheating in some capacity. Of course he wasn't and all of what he was doing with his rounds were legal. And i'm not pulling that shit out of my ass, you can ask loopers that were competing in the 2019 edition and they will corroborate this story. I actually got this info from Brez in his video reacting to this battle (really worth the watch btw !). All and all, really unfortunate situation for Inkie who probably worked harder than anybody else to master an entire new device in a year's time for the 2019 gbb. And boy, Helix is a hard device to master if you don't have good music production knowledge. And watching this battle again after some years, when looking at this battle objectively, it becomes quite obvious that Inkie won that. I was never a fan of NME using a Kaos Pad for his drums, and he makes a pretty noticeable mistake in his 2d round by having off time drums for the whole track. And Inkie was flawless for the whole two rounds. I'm glad Inkie got the recognition he deserved in SBX eventually ! Probably the most influencial looper because he popularized the use of second devices (now like 60 to 70% of newgen loopers use a second device). And he is now a judge for gbb competitions and all things related to loopstation in SBX without even winning a gbb himself.
Sad fact: they gave the win to nme(not saying it was undeserved)and they thought that inkie was cheating with his second device, because they themselves didn’t understand what he was doing, but now Inkie is known as one of the best loopstation guys in the scene!
Hey man love your reactions. Just something I want to get off my chest. I think it would be awesome if all reactors would not only link the original video, because they have to, but also link the beatboxers shown in the video. They didn't make any money whatsoever participating in GBB, which made NME even stop looping and performing on stage which is just sad. Swissbeatbox has earned a lot of criticism because of that in the past couple months. Don't want to go to deep into this topic, I just think supporting the artists is a lot more important, than supporting the company making money of them.
Its a tricky area to navigate for sure, I 100% agree with linking to both the battle and the artists to avoid any conflict of interest (hopefully GBB is allowing monetization for the promotion, and the artists should be recognized as well). It's unfortunate that some people have talked about not watching these, and that's the wrong way to go, IMHO. Regardless of anything going on behind the scenes, these competitions are important snapshots in history and are instrumental in both growing the genre AND bringing these artists' work to a MASSIVE audience. The competition scene has never been about the $, but I think now all the work these artists have put in for the love and the culture has brought this all to where its ready to break into mainstream, and with that comes MUCH more $ into the mix.
Yeah sure. I do tag them most of the times if I don't forget. I can forget of course, I'm one guy running multiple videos per day. I'm down to support other artists as well. Not making money in GBB and ranking in the TOP is absolutely absurd imo. But that's an issue within Swissbeatbox that THEY have to fix, not me or anyone else. However I still agree on supporting the artists by simply tagging them.
I used to go to loads of neurofunk party´s, felt the same the first time i heard Inkie, such a flow and energy. Disgusting 2nd round! Love your vids, keep up the reactions.
Remember this being real controversial at the time with some people claiming Inkie was "cheating". Looking back he was just way ahead of his time and a pioneer in the game. Pushing loopstation capabilities further than ever seen before and more or less creating / pioneering the producer catagory. Though personally i prefer the purer NME style but also love and appreciate both artists and styles
Loving the beatbox reactions, if you enjoy the loop category "Dice - ThFatRat remix" or "Mirsa" (during the Florida beatbox against rythmind) are both really good
Hi anthony , i love the beatboc reaction ... if you want a recommendation one of my favorite stage "battles" SBX ALLSTARS SHOWDOWN | SBX Camp Showcase 2019 , you gona love it
I think it comes a lot to preference tho. In my personal opinion, in battles, the most aggressive one must have the advantage, which means that not necessarily the best song deserves to pass to the next round, which is the reason why beatbox battles are so controversial. Looking logically to the battle, NME is like he starts very low and go bit by bit higher up, that's why usually his routines takes longer to get to the climax, Inkie starts very surprising already and has very big climaxes and then ends with lower energy. If we talking about a 4 - 8 minutes long song, it's totally okay to choose for NME, but for a battle, it's much more logical to give Inkie the advantage. It fits better the battle aspects. For me, the fact NME takes so much time to get to the climaxes and even messes up a little bit a the end of the second round, because he took too long, it is a very big factor to consider in this battle. Whatever the way you look to this battle, it's impossible to say it's fair Inkie losing 5-0, even if it's a coincidence.
Got my attention on the title GBB19 coz it's close to SB19 the PPOP (Philippine Pop) Kings. 😊 Hope you can react to them too. Check them out on JVKE'S concert recently (Sept 2) in Boston USA with their live performances on 4 of their songs. Thanks. 😉♥️🇵🇭

NME has mixing issues and It's not only this track but in almost every tracks. In the 1st round, the Percussions were off beat. In the 2nd round the bassline was too much distorting & clipping and interfering with other frequencies in the mix. Basslines are one of the difficult ones to mix and need pin point accuracy because it has least details than other frequencies and is most over powering one. Inkie on the other hand has one of the best mixing skills, the way he layers the samples in the mix is unmatched and I hardly see him making mistakes on the fly. In the end both are really original styled looping artists but I wish NME had better mixing skill, then it would be perfect.
The hihats in his second round also had a slight timing problem, with one of them being a bit late. Really sucks because he's tried to do this same round three separate times now and each time he had problems, with one of them even being bad enough to cause him to stop performing mid round because it was so bad. This is probably the best of the three attempts, but still.
NME might have won the battle, but when it comes to the war well I'll just say it like this: Inkie has been a judge on GBB2021 and will be again on GBB2023 whereas NME well, he's not at that level yet. *drops mic*
Incorrect. NME has just left the scene completely, it's been years now. He has a YT channel in Italian where he and his partners teach trading. He left a comment under one of Maddox's videos not long ago saying that he left because talent in beatboxing is not rewarded fairly in monetary terms and he can't have the life he and his family aspire to.
@@weirdcateating Hey good for him and this mirror what big names like Madox and even the current vice champion River have said about the business side so he finding something that actually pays the bills for him is a net win for NME no re on that end. As for whenever NME deserved the win it's been very contested for a reason: If it was 2018 absolutely, but 2019 was the first year where they allowed for second device. GBB signed off on Inkie using the Helix as his second device without really knowing what the device was truly capable of and judges have said that they basically changed the rules against Inkie on the spot: NME did not win so much as Inkie lost due to being disqualified. So I hope that settles it: You (And Anthony) might not really appreciate second device and really produced loop showcases but that wasn't the issue because GBB just *Didn't have to approve 2nd devices* and even without them, most of the controversial stuff Inkie did with it can be done with just the 505 MKII now anyway. The best solution is what we have for 2023 by the way: NME or MB14 are among the best as a loopers but guys like Inkie and Frosty helped create the brand new Producer category.
@@dimitriid Yeah I wasn't arguing that, I was just explaining to you and others that might read this why is that NME has never been seen judging or doing anything after the 2019 GBB

Very good. I hope after GBB 2019 you will also look at the GBB 2021 collection!
The sbx kickback battles solo and loop and BBU would be awesome to see too!
