Greetings ZRX fan. From Edmundston originally, moved to Bangor back in the 90's. A ZRX came to roost in my garage a few weeks ago and I couldn't be happier. Great video by thw way!
I have owned my 2000 ZRX since new, it has just a little over 40,000 miles on it and the only repair was a leaking clutch slave cylinder ($20.00 in parts fixed it). I currently own 20 bikes including a Hayabusa, Vulcan 1500 classic, Suzuki GS`s, Kawasaki KZ`s, and more. I keep going back to the ZRX as my go- to bike. I also initially bought it for the looks and soon found out what a great and dependable bike it is! I did notice that while you were riding you were doing the (turn signal switch check), I find myself constantly checking to make sure the turn signals are off by depressing that darn switch! I don`t know what it is about that bike, but it is so easy to forget to cancel the turn signals! Great video and thank you for sharing!
No motor hums as well as a carborated in line 4, the best sounding motor of all time. Yes of course the front brake is better with Double 3 piston calipers with drilled rotors , opposed to a 1 piston back break. Just replaced all the brake pads on mine and it will stop on a dime and leave change. If you don't think this is a sports bike, try riding it at 8k - 10k rpm, 11 is red line. Yes you can putt around at 4k-6k rpm and enjoy, open it up and find out what this bike can do. wouldn't trade mine for anything.
Yeah - with the roads a bit better now, I’ve been pushing the handling a bit more - definitely very sporty. Have had the chance to do a few hard pulls on the highway - it’s a quick bike. Torque falls off a bit after 8500 rpm or so, but very addictive none the less.
Bought my ZRX 1100 in 2005 and had it in my barn for nearly a decade. Just got it back after a carb rebuild. Has your airbox been drilled (research airbox mod). If you have a full exhaust, dyno jets, airbox mod, and zx11 or Muzzy cams you should have close to 130hp. Many people who bought this bike made these mods. Will look for your 750 review!) Was just through NB from Ontario. Love the scenery!
I've just begun to revive my '00 1100. Threw a rod last year after a bearing failure (64k HARD miles on that motor). I was literally hours away from selling it as a zombie project bike when I found a case for it. I've owned 10 different bikes. This is the only one I've ever felt sentimental attachment to. ZRX for life.
I just stumbled on this vid, and I think this bike is (or was) for sale at Downeast Motorsports. It was also missing it's 1/4 fairing, it had a Muzzy pipe on it, and they even told me the previous owner had it since 2020. So I'd bet $5 it's the same bike! I almost bought it but found another 99 that had the 1/4 fairing still on it. I really enjoyed the vid, thanks!
When the zrx1200 came out in 2001 it was powered very close to even the most powerful liter bikes. The liter bikes have now moved on to crazy horsepower but anybody not thinking the zrx is not a fast bike has no idea what they are talking about.
NB Fam - I rode mine across the US and back on one trip. It's softly sprung but I've had my suspension modified and re-valved for my weight. If you want to upgrade your suspension check out Dohearty Motorsports in Indiana. It may well be the best bike ever made.
He says quick but not super fast, but these bikes are incredibly fast and powerful, the torque on these motorcycles is enormous, definitely not something to play with, it can be very unforgiving
@@johnnygorena5318 I have a ZRX 1100 with exhausts, cams, jets and airbox mods. It is quick! I just bought a ktm 1290 SA and it pulls like mad compared to the KWAK. Funny, but I enjoy riding the ZRX around town more!
Mine I understand was imported from america, and I was beginning to wonder if it had been set up for drag racing or something all the gears seem very close together and it feels like there needs to be two extra gears after the last gear so its not revving so high. The previous owner did modifications K&N airfilters different exhaust. It's loud as hell.
Scary to hear a doctor complaining about the money he lost. I got furloughed during covid also so I guess you should feel lucky put me behind in my taxes and everything
Yeah that was a pretty terrible time across the board. Hopefully you’re back up and working. We were lucky to still be able to work - didn’t get too far behind but it was a bad six months nonetheless. It got better after this video for sure.
Hey man, looking for a first motorcycle and found a great deal on one of these. Wanted to know if you think starting on this bike would be suicide or if it can be done with some self control. Thanks!
Sorry for the late reply (and from my other channel since I don’t remember my login) - yeah these bikes are pretty fast for a beginner, but if you have good self control they’re the same as any standard bike otherwise. I’d probably prefer to learn on something much smaller and more forgiving, but I learned on a Yamaha virago that remains to this day the most difficult road bike to maneuver I’ve ever ridden.

Scott Miller yeah it’s funny - I think it’s the way the ergonomics are laid out - the indicator isn’t in your direct line of vision.

I owned a ZRX1100 barely 15 years ago. Boy, if I had known how much it would have become worth I never would have sold it.....fantastic machines....
As a Harley rider, we have the same inclination to it. I recently got interested in the newer z900rs but this one is pulling me.

Yeah it really pulls. It isn’t as twitchy as some port bikes I’ve ridden, and it’s a little softer-sprung, but it’s a very quick bike.

johnny gorena I have the Zrx1200, it’s an awesome bike. I have a few bikes but this is definitely an all around bike for everyday

I'm thinking of getting one just because I love the styling as well, I aslo have a triumph thunderbird 900 in black 1995 I'm keeping that one.
