I have had many people come in and ask for a price to make some prints of their artwork. They get the results and are expecting Giclee, but didn't know to ask for it. We of course would charge more for that due to the extra time and cost. Make sure you supplier knows you want high quality color accurate results and not just copies that are 90% accurate with a compressed color gamut.

Thank you for sharing this video! I knew nothing about printing artwork, so this helped me to understand the difference btw digital print and giclee.

Thanks for showing the prints. Interesting. There are a few other comparisons around and, like here, they similarly show the giclee prints come back a stop or two lighter, consequently the dark tones are more opened up. Colour difference between the two is striking, also.

Mmmm I liked the left print much better, it's richer. The neck on the 'giclee' print is blown out etc. What you didn't explain is, to be called Giclee the print must have 2 definite properties : It must be printed on Fine Art papers that are archival like Hahnemühle and 'pigment' ink must be used. Here's the ironic bit, pigment ink is not as dynamic as normal dye based ink. (Ilearnt this the hard way)

During my study, I found that Giclee prints should be at a minimum of 1200 dpi to maintain gradients, or they are not Giclee; they are just ink jets. yet everywhere seems to want to push them through at 300 dpi. What DPI has or is using Jenedy?

Are you talking about 300 dots per inch (which is what the printer puts on the paper) or pixels per inch, which is the digital source? Even for a 300 ppi (pixels per inch) source, the printer can still be putting down 1200-4800 dpi (dots per inch) on the paper.

Isn't Giclee just a marketing scheme. An inkjet print is an inkjet print.

Giclee must be made with Fine Art archival paper with pigment ink not dye based ink. She didn't mention this.
