Right ! Of course there is an unbeatable advantage , if you have mastered both versions : in full barre you can slide that chord all over the fingerboard and have access to many other chords of the same type ; by using your thumb you have an extra finger free etc.
Wow....I've heard a lot of that style and that same chord pattern in Townes Van Zandt tunes! And, of course, this tune sounds a lot like 9 Pound Hammer by Merle Travis....hmmm.....travis picking? LoL! I've never purchased anybody's videos off youtube, but damn, I'm going to buy this! I love the way Fred Sokolow teaches! Thanks for posting this!
Still going, Fred. I saw your earlier video. But to all your students, let me say, you will never be MJH. "Raggy blues" well, you certainly understand his style. But no one will ever "get" it again, not Richards, as much as he tried; not Clapton, as much as he tried to steal; and not Page, as much as he claimed to have gotten his electric guitar from these guys. BTW, Creole Belle is the only "original" song ever recorded by MJH, although even he adapted the idea from the 1902 stage play.

I'm a little impressed you can type so pretentiously in the UA-cam comment section with a pen1s in your mouth. I'm guessing American.
