- In this video i have discussed the basic idea of limit, this is the very first video of the course Introduction to Calculus. I have started with the discussion of Limit Basics which will be pretty helpful for beginners. So this is an absolute beginners tutorial as I said this video is mainly about Calculus for beginners. Anyone with absolute zero knowledge can learn calculus from Scratch with the help of this video.
In this video one will get the idea of the origin of limit, how this idea of Limit evolved and when we need to use the concept of limit and how to use this concept. As this idea is somewhat related to function one should have some prior knowledge of function in order to understand limit clearly.

2 key concepts that should be added.
1. Between any two given real numbers on the real number line there exist infinitely many numbers. Hence it is impossible to know the numbers just closest to or just next to a specific number. Another way of saying this would be that the real number line is Continuous and not Discreet. Human beings see Discrete values everywhere hence sometime forget this mathematical fact.
2. As x approaches 1, the value of f(x) "approaches" 2. f(x) does not become "equal to" 2, instead it's "limiting value" becomes 2. This terminology of Limiting value is essential.
Thanks for the Detailed video Anyways, Pavel.
Above 2 mentioned concepts were the ones I had not know/understood while I was trying to learn calculus in my high-school days.
I hope that this comment helps bring more clarity to the understanding of the viewer/learner.

You skipped the basics. You started with functions of x without starting at the most basic level, which is having a graph with just an x-axis and a y-axis. I'm looking for a course that does not skip steps. You didn't show how to get from a graph that shows a mere x and y axis, to expressing how a graph that shows a function of x relates to a mere graph of x and y. It's only a small omission, but as you have done so, you've shown that this course does not climb the ladder one rung at a time but skips essential rungs.
