I love this movie with elvis Presley in blue Hawaii, I remember when I first saw it, I had a crush on him, it was during our lunch break in San Fernando jr hi school, 1962, I was only 13 at time. I am 72 right now still enjoy all of his songs and movies, God bless you elvis, we'll sure miss you 4ever
I remember this movie was on TV one time when I was around 9 or 10. And I was big into Elvis back then and this scene was shown just as my mother turned on the tv, and she said to me "Oh look, there's Elvis!". We watched the movie, it was really cool!
I’m a huge fan of elvis Presley’s and I love 💕 elviss music and flims too elvis will always be the king 👑 of rock and roll 🎸 elvis was an amazing fantastic entertainer that ever lived elvis will never be forgotten bye a lot of elvis fans like self around the world 🌎 my dream is to visit Graceland and communicate with elvis 10:38am
"Blue Hawaii" 1961, Paramount Partial cast list: Elvis Presley, Joan Blackman, Angela Lansbury, Nancy Walters, Roland Winters, John Archer, Howard McNear, Steve Brodie, Iris Adrian, Hilo Hattie, Jennie Maxwell.
One of my 429 favorites. The first Elvis movie that came to my high school town in 1962 when I was 17. An old girl friend still say, "You brought me to Blue Hawaii Movie. Do you remember?..... No, you don't." Elvis was 27 when I was 17.
Rock a Hula Baby is a great song. Only a few people in the world play this song on guitar b/c it modualtes up 3 times. Nobody but me can sing & play this song at the same time on any type of guitar, while also dancing, jumping around & looking like Elvis. I have a lot of fun. That's what music should be about. This song is my featured video right now. Thanks. Take care.
to go along with all the others, I'm 15 and really like Elvis. it's a shame that some of his music has died, but he still lives on! I have a shrine of him in my room lol. I got to meet Sonny West once and he told me some really cool stories about Elvis! thanks for the post!!!
agentpoder That's great!!!! It just proves that you have excellent taste in music and entertainment! Actually I was your age when the "Elvis Bug" bit me!!!! Awesome!
He looks like a happy guy, but I’m sure when he got out of the army, he expected to do more of the kinds of movies he’d done in the 50 - some singing, maybe, but more dramatic roles. Once he did Wild In The Country and Flaming Star and those movies didn’t do as well as his musicals, the Colonel talked him into sticking to the safe, predictable musicals that made a lot of money. From the sounds of it, these movies made him miserable and I don’t blame him. He proved in King Creole that he could act, and he wasn’t allowed to do those roles anymore. I thought he was good in Change of Habit, though. It had songs, but also a decent plot with some social commentary.
Mate when I was a little boy, I watched these movies and thought they were the best thing I'd ever seen. Now fast forward to today and I can't believe how ridiculous and utterly corny/ cheesy they truly are. Presley looks like a parody of himself here and meanwhile a song this silly was being lauded as a masterpiece. How he endured 7 years of this mediocre shlock is beyond me. Meanwhile in the REAL music industry The Beatles and especially the Rolling Stones were creating REAL masterpieces and setting the stage for a massive shift from the stale outdated silliness that we see here. They were writing their own songs ( something Elvis could not do) and creating new sounds that would influence several generations to come and STILL Do. I like Elvis as singer but he simply was not going to last long as an entertainer in a landscape where his act just didn't leave room for real artistic growth.
He didn’t want to do movies like this. Before he went in the army he thought his career as a musician would be over when he got back and planned to move onto Hollywood and be a serious actor. Sad to say that his manger put him in movies where there would an already made soundtrack so that there was money being made. He wanted to do real movies that had him not sing at all, it just didn’t go his way. Also, just because you don’t write songs doesn’t mean your not talented or a good performer, he was an amazing performer. Sorry for ranting, but he was not who put him the limiting landscape, circumstances and poor management were what put a pause in his excellent career.
Without a doubt the greatest entertainer of the 20th century
I loved watching the Elvis movies, on our black and white, TV, every Saturday afternoon.
Angela Lansbury said he had impeccable manners and called her M'am, or Miss Lansbury
That's sweet
