I was a marine in Beirut in1983-84. We were flown to the battleship New Jersey to watch this show. We had just lost over 230 marines in Beirut headquarters bombing. Very rough time indeed. God bless the United states marine corps.

I was in the 6th Fleet Navy Band that played on this tour and backed up Hope and his guests.
It was such an honor and amazing experience.
I will never forget playing for the Marines in the barracks a week before the bombing.
I lost 3 friends in that.
I like to think we brightened their spirits a bit.

I been looking for this for years. I got a nice close up for the home folks during the George Kirby segment. My mom saw the broadcast and told me it was the best christmas present she received that year. Friends that knew me started phoning the house during the broadcast. Thanks to Bob and Crew for the visit.

I was there on ship and I adored ANN JILLIAN! She and Bob Hope were so good together, singing and dancing, wow! I'll never forget Bob & Ann and the others were good too. Thanks for posting this! Great memories.

Life in the service is very difficult in many different ways, all of which can be traced back to war being hell. It's a dark life, and that's why the morale shows were so emotionally important to the troops as a ray of light and honest laughter and cheesecake.

My old ship. USS Fort Snelling. I remember this show very well. Shook hands w/ Mr. Hope and got a nice pic w/ Brooke Shields. Meeting Mr. Bob Hope was better than making Chief!

I was on board the Ft. Sneeling aka Dirty30, at this time. I was assigned to ACU2, LCU1655 - part of the embarked units. We were the landing crafts that placed Marines on beach. We just finished up in Grenada before heading to Beirut. The Ft. Sneeling was an Amphibious Ship. A floating dry dock - ship would take on water in the Aft compartments to slowly "sink" so as small crafts can enter into the "well deck". Thanks for the Memories Bob-RIP HC Clark-ENC U.S. Navy Retired CPO (1973-1993)

I was there @ 13:20 sitting on the con x box above the U on the USO sign on right. I was taking pictures looking down at all those lovely ladies. Everybody kept passing their cameras to me. When I got home my girlfriend asked me what the hell was I doing? Ha Ha! Thanks for the mammaries Bob. And thanks for saving and posting this guys. HM3 Link Davidson

I have this on video somewhere searching for it............my daughter was born while her father was serving on the USS New Jersey BB62, she was born 5 weeks after he left, came home she was 11 1/2 months when they came home, funny we celebrated a home coming party with her birthday party and the dependents cruise was on the anniversary date they left. The cruise was to the catalina islands. What an experience.

After the show was over, and the stage cleared away, I was standing near the aft gun turret, smoking, and Bob Hope wandered over and sat on a crate next to where I was standing, and had a one on one conversation with me for half an hour.
