I do wish you had a bit more of a variety on this week on. Majority of us know what a sausage roll or steak/chicken bake tastes like; it would've been nice to see you try things people don't really talk about and the lesser-known items. It did get a bit repetitive at points, nonetheless, it was still enjoyable:)
Agreed, it wasn't very adventurous in terms of choices.
I also wished he hadn't had the same doughnut twice and had varied the sweet offerings too.
Quite a boring "week on" but I still had to watch it all the way through!
I can understand you being sick of it, but at least some of that's on you for not exploring what appeared to be a wider selection of options than you went with. Good fun, thanks for the vid.
Exactly. The lazy donut option, for several desserts was boring. Where was the Tottenham cake, caramel shortbread, brownie, Belgian bun, heart biscuit, gingerbread, fairy cake etc. Maybe they don't fit with his image. But- in for a penny, in for a pound...

Been holding back waiting to see if you actually explored the full Gregg range. There's plenty of more healthy options they even have a "balanced choice" range which they launched with a diet plan a few years ago where they showed you how to do a week on Greggs calorie controlled. Greggs has fruit pots, their own drink range, salads, pasta salads, porridge, toasted sandwiches, but maybe you just went to bad shops at the wrong time of day 😅 You'd be surprised how many people do eat Greggs every day! Also, inside the triple chocolate doughnut is essentially just vanilla frosting like you have on a cupcake :) also, you can get little cheesy omelettes in your breakfast rolls, some people even buy the hash browns from the hot counter and put them in the breakfast rolls!

I highly doubt there's actually butter in their regular sausage rolls and pastry, it's almost certainly margarine

Greggs is extending opening hours into the evening and offering Focaccia pizzas to order and evening only desserts. They'll have a wine list next at this rate.
Interesting ! There's been times I'd have loved a Greggs in the evening but had to settle for ordering something else instead.

I went to the one in Northampton at 2am on a night out about 5 or 6 years ago. Maybe longer.
It was great pissed food. So so much better than a salmonella Donna pita from a kebab shop.

A lot of these week on series tend to end up with Mike complaining that he is sick of something. In this case pastry.
But rather than having sausage rolls multiple times or Chicken bakes, Steak bakes, Sausage and bean bakes... Etc
There are a lot more options to choose in a greggs. Just seems like each of these weeks could have more variety and a lot of them end up the same.
I get greggs is known for their sausage rolls and pasties but what's the point in having something multiple times in the same week when you don't have to.

The corned beef bake! The joy! Used to have the great pasty when Sayers were competition, but vanished when the war was won.

I’ve put on quite a bit of weight since our village opened a greggs outlet!
"Corned" beef literally means "salt beef"
Mike almost always seems to lose weight on these challenges, and I feel one explanation for this is that any diet that involves only eating during meal times is likely to result in weight loss. I think what this proves is that snacking is the main cause of increased weight and if everybody centred their daily diet around three core meals, then they'd lose weight almost regardless of what those three meals consisted of
Their baguettes are amazing, all I buy along with coffee. The Mexican Chicken with Jalapeno one is fantastic, especially god if they heat it up for you to melt the cheese.

You failed by not getting the breakfast box from the hot counter for breakfast. You complain about the lack of vegetables yet they do various salad boxes, they do a beef and vegetables pasty.

I'm sure Mike J won't bother to read this. But cats don't like their food and water bowls to be in close proximity. They prefer their food/water to be placed in different rooms from each other.

A week on Barry Lewis! He can make you recipes from the channel and send you meals to warm up or you cook his recipes for a week.

It's not a new line, they just changed the packaging to fool people
My local Greggs did away with their hot food counter with the stores last refit update. so you only get hot food if it's just come out of the oven.. They do do the sausage and or bacon baps still.
Their foods seem more suitable for breakfast and lunch than dinner.
It would be interesting to compare this to a week on food from a health food shop or something. A comparison of "good" food to "bad" food as it were.
What about a week on 3 thousand calories? All your week ons are about how much weight you lose so how about you see how much weight you gain when you eat over your calories for a week 🙂?
Mike try it again in the summer when they have a look more choice of salads and other options.
ive heard that greggs is increasing opening hours so thats great for you greggs maniacs and i love meat sausage rolls from greggs. hard to resist when i got a bit of money in my pocket.

It would have been enhanced by tomato sauce or sauce's....i know they aren't made by greggs but they are sold in there but particularly the vegan stuff because the pastry is a bit cardboardy without the butter

Yea, he said 'didn't gain much weight'. And also later says 'gained a very small amount of weight'. But he lost 0.4lbs. I'm wondering if he filmed that part before waiting until the end. But to be fair he probably did feel he would've gained, if eating until normal satiety. But didn't want to take the damage. Since he seems to be keeping fit these days.

And we can eating pastry and sausage and cheese cookies donuts and he loses almost a pound just watching him eat all that and I think I've gained 20

Loved the series! But a bit bummed you didn’t have a cheese and onion pasty (in my opinion the best one). Also I think adding a greater variety of sandwiches/baguettes would have really helped with all the pastry overload

I know people have been hounding you for years to do this one, but you were obviously bouncing against the limits of the menu for most of the week. Which is probably as it should be - it doesn't matter how nice the bhajis may have been, they're not 'proper' Greggs food (ie pastry and / or bread with stuff in the middle).
Actually now I mention it the bhajis themselves would qualify perfectly, just not the rice / veg / etc on the side. Unless they put the whole thing on a baguette, and then you're on a whole other level.
