    three videos on the same day? BRING IT ON! : D The new XF lenses are so good. But I will still keep my newly acquired XF 35mm 1.4 for the "magic" and size. Even smaller with the new squarehood! And for the record: you made me buy the 18mm 1.4 lol.

      Ha ha, ya. I got complaints about my 45min reviews so I break them up now. Since you have the 18mm, I guess I need to get one so we can go shooting. Europe or Asia?

      I'm really looking forward to the XF23mm but there are some shipping delays, about a month late. Let's see what happens. Even Fujifilm Canada just got it in this week!!

    I’m so excited for this new 33mm. I’ll always keep the 35mm because it’s a classic and I believe it’ll be highly sought after when we are older as a vintage lens.

    I’m splitting the difference, keeping the 35 f/1.4 and adding the new 23 f/1.4. I love the 35mm lens and have been semi-patiently waiting for the new version of the 23mm lens. I’m excited that Fujifilm is going through their XF lens line-up, updating so many lenses. Thanks for this video and for the first use video, which I also enjoyed.

    Fuji APS-C's charm was compactness; these lenses all getting big/heavy with bodies like XT4 means full frame high resolution from like Sony a7rIV /a7III for same size/weight and similar price. Cramming 60mp's into a APS-C sensor is not going to happen and a 2 month used A7RIV is $2500 with a 55mm lens for $650. Much less for mid-resolution bodies. And remember f1.4 = only f2.1 in FF world DofF.

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  2 роки тому +3

      they still do have their compact Fujicron prime lens line-up as well as compact bodies like the X-E4 and X100V. However, this is part of an ecosystem, and there are some who also want more powerful bodies and lenses for more serious work. Remember that even the the Pansonic GH5 is still considered a serious mirrorless video camera, and it's M43. It's not just the sensor size but the entire ecosystem. I do think that APS-C is the sweet spot for most consumers and some professionals, where 35mm has the advantage for price-performance in many categories, but not all. But I get the argument, and yet many full framers are migrating over the Fujifilm, so obviously there is some attraction to this system. If you're looking for ultimate bokeh for the best price, I agree that 35mm is the way to go.

    @bradk7451 2 роки тому +1

    A lot of people are grumbling about the weight, but this is only twice as heavy as a 23mm F2, which is feather light. The X bodies are only 1.2 pounds in a pretty tight package so combined this is 2 pounds of gear. Would you say that the size/weight creates a nice balance on the body? Sometimes the ultralight lenses on the X-bodies are actually, I can't explain it, balanced awkwardly. The Viltrox 56mm F1.4 is comparable and feels great on the body.

    • @buddyWalrus
      @buddyWalrus 2 роки тому

      It should technically be easier to stabilize a heavier object from small movements, so I don't think you are imagining things there. Even then, like you said these lenses still aren't that heavy. Exaggerated internet complaining as usual.

    great video and also still naming the 3rd party lens as still valid options to consider depending on the photographer and use cases.

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  2 роки тому +1

      for sure, we all need options. I know not everyone can afford the new lens, or even the older XF35mm f/1.4. $600 is still expensive for some. That's why I though KEH would be a good sponsor since they deal with used lenses :-)

    Hello Take,
    Could you be so kind and compare XF 33mm f1.4 to 35mm f2? I had 35mm f1.4 and then replaced it with 35mm f2 and now even sold f2 (before 33mm came live).
    I am wondering if I should go back to 35mm f2 as its size is for me its biggest advantage. Picture quality is fine, sharpness was great, color rendering also pleasing, but I noticed that f2 was worse when I was tilting camera for capturing architecture (compared to 35mm f1.4). I am wondering what advantages besides better aperture I will get if I will decide for 33mm f1.4 instead 35mm f2. Everyone are saying that 33mm f1.4 don't have "magic" which was present in 35mm f1.4. The same people tell about 35mm f2 so I am wondering what else I will get by choosing 33mm f1.4.
    Excuse me if my request is confusing. Thank you in advance and have a good day!

    have you ever used the Zeiss touit 32mm f1.8? I thought it superior to the xf35 f1.4 when it came out and sold my xf35 and kept the Zeiss. those Zeiss lenses seem to get overlooked whenever there's a comparison video of similar focal lengths.

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  2 роки тому

      I would love to test the Zeiss, I’ve just never had access to it. I’m interested to see how it looks though :-)

  • @hyojoonus
    @hyojoonus 2 роки тому +1

    Fuji did well prioritizing quality on the 33mm since 50mm is such a standard look for keepsake memory photographs. And the price is 200usd lower than what I was expecting, I suppose it's the 50mm discount. However, part of me wished they went full on and made a f1.2 instead even with added cost. 50mm being my favorite, I would have been a happy clam and would have called it my last lens.

    • @hyojoonus
      @hyojoonus 2 роки тому

      In fact, their trinity could have been or should be
      1. 18mm f1.4 1000usd 28mm
      2. 33mm f1.2 1200usd 50mm
      3. 56mm f1.0 1500usd 85mm
      with the current 18mm formula.
      Even with bigger lens sizes, they'd still be smaller than full frame equivalents and less costly.

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  2 роки тому +2

      The 50mm has the least amount of correction and the light comes in pretty straight, so optically it's easier to correct. The more telephoto and wider you go, then you start bending light. That's why the XF18mm is the heaviest and most expensive of the trio, while the XF33mm is the cheapest and lightest.
