Great interview. I'm glad to see that Tamara's music is reaching a wider audience. What she says about singing as a way of coming up with lyrics makes a lot of sense. Singing engages more of the brain than is normally involved in using language, and music itself bypasses the rational censor we have within us that can be an inhibiting factor. To sing, and let the sound of the melody suggest the words, is probably a very good way to unlock emotional content in songwriting. She talks about ideas "bubbling up" to the surface that way. Another great technique she uses is to play an unfamiliar instrument when writing. Even using an altered tuning can achieve a similar result.

Is it always Trump finds a way into every conversation? Why? Does Trump in such short time, cause so much concern even in the minds of music artists? Or, how has Trump been so heavy on your minds?
I suggest we watch too much tv or read corporate media resulting in us assuming too much. Are you artists so easily influenced? As an outsider looking in, you appear to be obsessed to so much name Trump for any negative situation. Frankly, it should be embarrassing to blame a single person so often. Not a single person? A movement? Maybe so. Still, shifting blame is unbecoming and it's obvious to the majority.
I get it though. Appeal to only those who truly appreciate our work. In the end, do you not want more listeners? Or do you not care that you'll potentially drive listeners away with political accusations? Of course I'm not trying to suggest "selling out." Whatever that means....
Doesn't matter to me. Again, I'm just an outsider looking in that enjoys the sound and the art. But your politics aren't what sold me.
On the other hand, your politics will probably run me off.

I only heard one Trump reference a couple of minutes into the interview, and she didn't say much about him. It shouldn't be too surprising that some of the events of Trump's term as POTUS worried people concerned with the environment, notably Trump's decision to pull America out of the Paris Agreement. Given the fact that 2 of her albums have an environmental thematic focus, it wouldn't be too surprising if she found that move by Trump a bit disturbing. Even so, she didn't beat up on Trump in the interview, just a passing mention.

@@sassulusmagnus I suggest that leaving the Paris Agreement had nothing whatsoever to do with the assumption that Trump is not environmentally conscious. Bad deals, no matter the cause, are still bad deals. There are practical ways to address environmental concerns and there are a great many designed as a profit first initiative.
