I always laugh when Aughra yells at the crustacean killing machines to get out of her house like they're a bunch of drunks causing a ruckus at a bar, not an unstoppable army trying to kill the last Gelfling(s).
I love that she chucks one of her astrolabes at them. Whats THAT gonna do?!

Imagine building such a gigantic prop just to be on screen for like 5 minutes, truly masters of their craft.

What's interesting is that, when I first watched this movie, I thought it was stupid and super convenient that the crystal shard reacted to the music.
But now, watching AoR, it makes a lot more sense. The crystal is reacting to the song of Thra, the music of the Gelfling. It's not a plot device, it was being truthful to the actual lore. Just wish they could've explained that in the movie

I thought it was already pretty intuitive. Flashback to the monks chanting, Jen plays along with them (and we know the monks are DEFINITELY tied to the crystal).
