Actually, I don’t believe it’s faked because those tubes have small amounts of the black that come out of a different slot on the toothpaste so that’s why it always comes out in stripes, as you can see the top is just grey then the bottom is striped.
For all people wondering,It’s because even if u mix it, it still has some striped toothpaste at the very bottom of the tube, and I didn’t mix there. That’s why it came striped, but then grey.
I love this trend. I love seeing grown adults waste toothpaste. This is simple the toothpaste gets stuck in the lid so it’s still gonna have stripes. Once you squeeze it enough it will just be gray.

One of the least valuable things to waste. If you wanna get specific. Many countries don’t even use toothpaste, because it in itself is not what cleans your teeth, rather the brushing motion.
so I think I know why. pretty much there's just a bit of toothpaste already in the cap waiting, so when you mix it as you squeeze it out it will become more mixed until it's only mixed. pretty simple✨
Toothpaste is an interesting fluid (believe it or not). It's one of a class of Non-Newtonian fluids. This means it doesn't act like most normal liquids.. Specifically, toothpaste is one of the shear-thinning fluids known as Bingham Plastics. This means that unless a shear force is acting on it (such as you squeezing the tube), it behaves like a solid. So inside the tube when you're not squeezing it, the toothpaste stays in it's solid colour blocks. When you sqeeze the tube, the shear force you apply causes the fluid to flow out of the nozzle. But it flows in a laminar fassion, and doesn't mix itself up. Ever notice how that blob of toothpaste holds it's shape on the end of your toothbrush? That property is the exact same reason it doesn't mix up in the tube. Its not magic.
I do believe that corn starch mixed with water otherwise known as oobleck is also a non Newtonian fluid but i would’ve never guessed toothpaste to be one
my dad used to work at a Colgate company in germany he told me that there were 3 layers the Top layer the middle layer and the bottom layer apparently if you mix the middle and top layer the bottom layer or the layer when you make the tooth paste upside down wont get mix since it has a CO2 Gap keeping bottom layer untouched. edit: bro wtf i left this comment to rot thinking it would only get 1-10 likes not 800+ also i added the dad bit as a joke since my dad left me.
Hey dude you got to under stand there’s a compartment that’s about 3/4 percent down the tube so that it always gives people a sense of satisfaction and the tube has an inlet like a trumpet 🎺 witch feeds the tooth paste thru so that the stuff in the inlet dosnt get mixed that’s why it slowly get greyer your welcome for over complicating things 😬
For it to mix properly you need the flow in the tube to be turbulent, but the fluid is so viscous that it’s basically impossible to create turbulent flow with just your hands without cutting the tube and mixing it. Especially with a full tube, so the flow stays laminar and therefore doesn’t mix.
no it's that the color is at the bottom of the tube and the hole has like a straw on the inside a little bit so imagine it standing on the cap then there is the stripe color up to the inner tube height and that tube has holes in it so basically it's feeding the color as it's leaving
You're using a lot of million dollar words like you're writing a research paper. In laymen's terms, the reason mixing it "Doesn't cause the stripes" Is because even though it is mixed, the toothpaste that is still in the nozzle is not mixed. It's very clever cutoff because if they kept squeezing eventually it would push out the mixed toothpaste.
I did that when I was ten. The stripes will start to mix after the toothpaste has been used for some time because the toothpaste is already aligned near the opening and you can't mix that area well because it's in stiffer plastic. So in conclusion, you can mix it, just 'massage' it for quite a while and then use half the tube immediately to see the result 🙃
