Beverly Huttinger because before you yankees over ran northern Virginia the whole state had a southern feel, there are nice places to live in southern Virginia too, blacksburg, charlotesville, Lexington, Harrisonburg (almost northern va though) I just don't like northern Virginia because it's too populated. Id much rather be in southern Virginia
Don't forget Olde Huntersville, Young's Park, Tidewater Park. I lived in Norfolk for a little while. It wasn't bad for me. But there are so really bad places
Jakhm Mcrae this looks nice compared to where Im from.,I grew up in Brooklyn in the 70s and 80 and South Yonkers. This a vacation. My sister graduated from Norfolk state in1994.she lived in the hood in Norfolk for years.
Most cities worst areas are usually confined to a particular section but the funny thing about Norfolk, no matter what side, section or area you go in Norfolk there's a damn hood.
We got to park at the end of our neighborhood but it ain't that bad we don't only had maybe two or three drive-bys in the past 10 years a body in the river and a couple stabbings.
Lets talk about the best areas in Norfolk which is Ghent, Botanical Gardens area (the other side of Norview by the Airport), Wards Corner Area some parts of Little Creek, Ocean View and the Norfolk side of Wesleyan.
Bruh, sometimes I actually research, not often because Idon't have time, but I did this time. That first street I drove down was Alexander street and the surrounding neighborhoods. pilotonline.com/news/local/crime/article_2c02d301-2d0c-5e44-aaf3-f3a40f0dd8f6.html
Even though they're some bad neighborhoods in Norfolk, this guy didn't drive through none of them. He did ride through some public housing area's but driving during a cold season In the rain will not show the impact. You must drive either on the weekend and In the early evening on a hot summer days, If you really want to show the blight.
You talking about brambleton? That's been cleaned up. Quiet, New single family homes with a walking path and benches with a man made lake. Ain't no BS over there anymore. ODU area is being cleaned up also. The leaders of Norfolk saw they were headed to be another Detroit if they didn't get their act together because middle and upper class residents were leaving for Chesapeake and Virginia Beach. Norfolk with be left with just a bunch of poor people and no tax base.... Like Detroit was. So now Norfolk is on the road to tearing down projects and getting rundown and low income residential structures off of prime real estate. Shit is changing slowly.
Looks alot better than most of the places you have been, there is grass, yards and trees. I have been binge watching your videos and I had no idea there were so many places like Detroit, some look worse. I live in Michigan, have all my life. Thank you for posting all the places you have been..
That area went real bad after they tore down Lakeland Apartments. I lived on Skrand Skreet. Mad ghetto in the late 80's early 90's. Especially for a Filipino kid.
Man i used to stay in roberts park when it existed, that project, bowling green and princess anne rd stayed in those areas. All i seen was bodies falling.
Bro let me tell you you ain't nowhere near the worst Hood in Norfolk. You got to cross that bridge Campostella Diggs Park Oakleaf park. You got to go to the bricks boy. But you probably don't want to do that. You got to be from out there to make it up out of there
I live in Norfolk so a lot of people own their homes! He not in the worst part, it's the projects like tidewater park, Huntersville, & even in Huntersville these people buying homes, & they also have built these neighborhoods up so this must be somebody who doesn't even live in the area!😈every neighborhood is not ghetto neither r the people! He not even narrating just driving so he really don't know what he's presenting!😕👎
Yeah that was the only real government housing project he went to. Looked like either Young's Park or Tidewater park. Sweet pea Whitaker is from them PJ's.
Lol most of these cars are so rare in Europe like camaro , and I am from Europe and I wish to live in these beautiful homes. Lmao in america , poor = rich in eurole.
You obviously don't know what you are talking about. There might be areas that look worse but I actually researched the area and I filmed Alexander st and the surrounding neighborhood which was considered the worst according to this article www.pilotonline.com/news/crime/article_2c02d301-2d0c-5e44-aaf3-f3a40f0dd8f6.html
@charlieBo313 umm, I'm from there and it was more than Alexander Street in the video....soooo, yeah, you might not know based on one Street! Research that! ✌🏾
I said the video consisted of Alexander st and the surrounding area. You think I'm just going to make a video of one street ? If Alexander st was considered one of, o the worst then the surrounding area is probably crime ridden too. Your reaching too far trying to find something wrong, you sound silly.
The streets are literally the only thing you have to worry about in most neighborhoods in norfolk. There is way worse in norfolk. East little creek nuff said
I’m trying to figure out why are you saying riding around Norview is a bad area of Norfolk? Obviously you’re not from Norfolk because where you should be is out the Ville or Park Place even Fort Worth finner Street
Remember in the 90's East Norview when 4 NYC drug gang was killed and left on Picadilly? articles.dailypress.com/1989-04-05/news/8904050295_1_drug-gang-jackson-unidentified-man
I'm from Norfolk. Bayview area. My parents still live in the same house for 41 years not 1 problem ever. Nothing. There redone East OV into million dollar homes called East Beach it's very nice now. The other areas are bad and sketchy. You just have to mind your business. Don't see nothing keep your mouth shut. Don't snitch and Stay low. When I visit, I go to Bayview, Ghent, and VA bch. I stay away from hoods 😂
Ocean view, shoop park, titas town, oakmount, Robert’s park. Park place. Berkeley... I don’t know were the hell he at. I think he’s out the views though
Looks like my old childhood neighborhood in Norfolk by Ocean View, Bayview Elementary/Azalea Gardens middle/Norview High School. Use to walk to the bus stop with my friends and the local 7-11 all the time. Not a bad neighborhood walking on the street wise just a lot of domestic violence/theft. Idk tho I was just a kid back then so maybe my memory of the place isn’t very accurate compared to an adults point of view.
Not accurate. The ppl who live here and the city leadership is changing this place for the better. It's just a cycle of ppl who care making more ppl care. It's gonna be the place to be one day. On my momma
Norfolk isn't that bad. As long as you don't come here on some dumb shit and just let people be you good. Street shit can pop off anywhere. Its like anywhere you go looking for problems and you'll find them.
LOL at some of these comments. I lived in one of the best neighborhoods in Norfolk and still heard shootouts. Some of you have no idea what you're talking about.
Gary Clutch Clark I Lived In Norview For 8 Years So I Don't Get This Either...And Still Live In A Good Neighborhood And Don't Matter....Shit Happens ANYWHERE.
Pretty crazy that I can tell you where you started your video and where you ended it. Lets see you started at Sewells Point Road then Five Points and Norview Ave. Then you ended you're video in Down Town Norfolk I'm going to say Roberts Park Area OR Bowling Park. I grew up in Norview lived off of Chesapeake Blvd.Wellington Oaks Harvey Court from 1975 to 1992. Graduated at Norview High School "GO PILOTS " in 1989.So yes I grew up in the HOOD, BUT I had a AWESOME childhood good memory's. 😁💖
yea bro u missed huntersville old hunters park place titus town little creek ches blvd ocean view lake edwards all downtiwn pj's norview tidewater dr. yea but go to lower end newport news the value of life is non existent
We got lost downtown once and ended up in a spot where you could feel them watching you and everyone was on their porch every other house. It was terrifying. Didn't see it in this video.
My grandma used to say, “lock the doors! Get down!” When we would drive through these areas. She lived in Norfolk for 40 years and it just got worse and worse, I know exactly where these places you are showing are. Norfolk, Portsmouth and sadly now Chesapeake is starting to look like this. I think the Hampton roads area is even worse
I lived in Norfolk when I was in the Navy. Merrimack Landing apartments. I liked Norfolk a lot. No good seafood, but it was cool. We had a beach right down the road where I could go do laundry at soaps n suds and next door to that I could drink a beer on the beach at greenies while my laundry was washing. Norfolk was cool
Merrimack Landing, before remodeled, was named Oceanair Apts and was a dump,so you did not see it during the rough times;but overall,Norfolk is a nice city,as long as you don't cross anyone, then, you have abig problem..Lol,love Norfolk,Va...
really? it must have really gone downhill...it was fine in '89/'90 except maybe an occasional drunk sailor brawl I would imagine. You could go anywhere, anytime. Now, for example, Oakland, CA....it was decidedly worse, but if you went during the day, you could literally go anywhere via BART and the bus. I must've went down every street in that city, once to the movie theater in the hood where people had 6 foot chain link fences in '90 (!!!) That blew my mind, I'd never seen that before and had to wonder what possible threat would cause every homeowner to have one. Needless to say, didn't get off the bus there, or come back....
I stayed out Berkley for a couple of years and it was ruff. It was cool because I knew a few people out there. I also stayed in Huntersville and Oceanview and those two are not that bad.
i drive the 20/6 short and long runs to ches. i took care of people in bad weather, occasionally took someone home that just got out of jail and didn't have much, even had a nice lady with a bunch of kids, called me Mr Rogers (usually i was the only white person all night).
For the record Im from Norfolk and I represent the 757 to the fullest... It is like this though, if you respect the next man the next man will pretty much respect you... The young boys tweek a lil bit but the 757 is nothing like your Baltimores, Detroits, Chicago's, etc.. It gets busy but in a less cuttroat way.... If you from out of town dont come around thinkin shit sweet remember Respect... Those who are from here kno the rules and if you get outta line you will be checked for it.. Aint to many pussies roun here niggas on go wit da fight game etc... So yea dats my 2 cents on my 7 cities...
You had on Chesapeake Boulevard and went down Alexander Street you was out Norview then you went out Church Street area you're trying to make it seem like it's all one bad place and you was in about 3 or 4 different places
After reading some of these comments saying “this ain’t no hood”. Clearly y’all ain’t grow up here. These are the streets I grew up in and it’s definitely rough. It ain’t no Detroit no but it ain’t easy. People ain’t got much better to do other than drugs, gangs, robbery..whatever...People be getting shot left and right out here. Kids man like 12 and younger...for no reason.. I agree Charlie could have gone closer to the Naval base or a little past Norview toward NPN or VB but don’t let the looks deceive you. Granby Park ect. If Norfolk was the size of NYC it would actually have a higher murder and crime rate due to the avg of people. Alexander St WAS the worst but now it isn’t. If you stay on Granby St towards NSU and ODU you start to see it change more...if you ain’t grow up here or nowhere even close please save your comments because you don’t know what you’re saying...looks can be very deceiving..stay there for a bit you’ll understand what I mean..the news here is depressing af always about robbery’s, shootings, stabbings, everything..always something..I moved out west and the hoods out west are even more difficult to notice but they’re very dangerous just as Norfolk and NPN, Portsmouth..all these places you definitely don’t want to be out after dark or even during the day without a gun on you
OBX Scotty born in Norfolk and been all throughout p town here. I was actually staying out Youngs park (in the video) when he rode through. It's no where near as bad as it was in the 90's, man. As long as you mind your business, working, and keeping your nose clean nobody will mess with you. The police are the biggest worry because them niggas be trippin for no reason
OBX Scotty yes you’re right, my grandma lived off tidewater, we went through some nasty areas to get there, I remember watching people breaking into the shipping companies almost nightly running down the train tracks, my dad carried several guns and had several within arms reach plus surveillance, it’s very sketchy. And I live on the OBX too 🤗 makes me appreciate our little island when I go to NAWfuck
I used to stay on fort Worth near the gas station for like 14 months. The year get rich or die trying came out

Lol it may be hood but it's not a ghetto there is a difference. There were no boarded up demolished homes like what was shown in Atlanta and Detroit. The Commonwealth doesn't play that shit. Hardly any trash around. You get fined for that in Va.
For those who don't have the memo of Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake and Virginia Beach, will get a rude awakening. All looks ain't alike and all fools ain't black, facts
Norfolk looks like a decent place to live, but some areas get busy at night
Beverly Huttinger because before you yankees over ran northern Virginia the whole state had a southern feel, there are nice places to live in southern Virginia too, blacksburg, charlotesville, Lexington, Harrisonburg (almost northern va though) I just don't like northern Virginia because it's too populated. Id much rather be in southern Virginia
jrollj ain't shit sweet bruh we're cool but were like any inner city with problems
Beverly Huttinger Northern Va is where all the metheads, heroin addicts and MS-13s at. So you need to shut your pasty dumbass up.
jrollj busy with them glocks
Oh we get it in in Norfolk
He did not hit the real hoods in Norfolk. Diggs park oak leaf south side
I remember jus walking to the play park when I used to live out Diggs park and see plenty of crips in backyards
Ong
And young’s park Calvert Park
Don't forget Olde Huntersville, Young's Park, Tidewater Park. I lived in Norfolk for a little while. It wasn't bad for me. But there are so really bad places
I live in Norfolk and you aren’t even in a bad area
exactly
Jakhm Mcrae I'm from Philly I used 2 spend my summers in Norfolk back n the 80's.I've heard a lot of shit about Portsmouth back then
Larry King I'm from Chicago and it is way worst than Norfolk
Five points is considered a a bad area.
The detailed narration makes this a compelling video.
Take a ride through downtown Newport News next time your down that way
Norfolk is a nice place. Good people there. Lived there during my navy days.
All the parks .... Anything with park at the end of the neighborhood name that's usually ur first sign of gehttoness...
We got to park at the end of our neighborhood but it ain't that bad we don't only had maybe two or three drive-bys in the past 10 years a body in the river and a couple stabbings.
Toppsy Kratt not barraud park
Park place is in beginning
They've replaced the name" park" with "terrace" and "gardens" and "square" to make it not sound so "hood"
Lived in those apartments at 2:15...tough even in 1976
That’s some of the nicest hoods I’ve ever seen
Lol
Try walking through there
@@cm392 I did . Still seemed pretty cool
I live here, it's actually worse than it looks, the news is always talking about shootings, and crazy shit happening
Lets talk about the best areas in Norfolk which is Ghent, Botanical Gardens area (the other side of Norview by the Airport), Wards Corner Area some parts of Little Creek, Ocean View and the Norfolk side of Wesleyan.
How many miles are on your van, Charlie?
Not my van but i think it has about 140K
Yikes! Thought you was gonna run that sign at 1:52! Thanks for a nice drive...
Worst hoods? You sure lol?
Dizy It could have problems but I doubt this is the worst hood in that whole city.
Bruh, sometimes I actually research, not often because Idon't have time, but I did this time. That first street I drove down was Alexander street and the surrounding neighborhoods.
pilotonline.com/news/local/crime/article_2c02d301-2d0c-5e44-aaf3-f3a40f0dd8f6.html
CharlieBo313 Would've never known. Looks are deceiving with this hood. I could tell by the projects at the end it was the hood though.
Don't be fooled by appearances
north carolina has alot more going for itself than this military base..
Even though they're some bad neighborhoods in Norfolk, this guy didn't drive through none of them. He did ride through some public housing area's but driving during a cold season In the rain will not show the impact. You must drive either on the weekend and In the early evening on a hot summer days, If you really want to show the blight.
Oh no that's not the worst place in Norfolk, you need to go near Norfolk state university that's the bad place.
Hell yeah
michael meyer right. These definatley ain't the worst houses in Norfolk by a long shot. But he did hit some projects tho atleast
michael meyer you mean Grandy village and all that
or ODU real nasty over there
You talking about brambleton? That's been cleaned up. Quiet, New single family homes with a walking path and benches with a man made lake. Ain't no BS over there anymore. Scarlett's Secret ASMR the video isn't mislabeled. Just because it doesn't look like a war zone doesn't mean it's not the hood.
James Knowles right on!
This isn't necessarily the "hood," It's just how people live down in Norfolk. You probably saw my cousin down there somewhere.
I use to live in hampton off independence...you either work in the shipyard or work fast foods or hustle...
Damon Wright then it's the hood lol.
I don't think I ever saw you do a cul-de-sac......made my night...
He thinks Norview is the hood? Lol
Walk the street safely day And night here.
Where are you from dude?
I work in park Place frequent huntersville and live in Oceanview but I'm a native of Springfield, massachusetts, which is WAAAAY worse by far
Gary dubour jr yes I'm from Bridgeport Connecticut, a thousand times worse than Norfolk, this makes me laugh
Y'all lying to y'all damn self ain't shit in Massachusetts or Connecticut worse than Norfolk or have a higher murder rate
That area went real bad after they tore down Lakeland Apartments. I lived on Skrand Skreet. Mad ghetto in the late 80's early 90's. Especially for a Filipino kid.
The audio to this is so relaxing lol
Man i used to stay in roberts park when it existed, that project, bowling green and princess anne rd stayed in those areas. All i seen was bodies falling.
Bro let me tell you you ain't nowhere near the worst Hood in Norfolk. You got to cross that bridge Campostella Diggs Park Oakleaf park. You got to go to the bricks boy. But you probably don't want to do that. You got to be from out there to make it up out of there

This is extremely irresponsible. To call someone's home: "one of the worst." Hey man who do you think you are? Very WRONG HEADED on your part!
Old school brick projects!!!!!
Yeah that was the only real government housing project he went to. Looked like either Young's Park or Tidewater park. Sweet pea Whitaker is from them PJ's.
your car signal sounds like old people rides u might want to upgrade bro,
Lol most of these cars are so rare in Europe like camaro , and I am from Europe and I wish to live in these beautiful homes.
Lmao in america , poor = rich in eurole.
AgletDC but most hoods in america make europe look like a fairyland
I am from eastern Europe and this look like Uganda to me. Potholes, above ground power lines, trash, unclassy people, run down wooden houses...
klenezinjo Do you afford a camaro ?
Lmao these cars are new pickups and muscles.
I can relate. Wealthy to me means rich.
Charlie when you hit the jackpot don't give up doing the vids lol
I'll probably do more then because I would be able to travel farther lol.
The best looking hood I have ever seen, look more like a suburban neighborhood home owners
This is a real nice area of Norfolk, come on now.

Great educational video. Could you add a little narrative to it my brother.
I’m trying to figure out why are you saying riding around Norview is a bad area of Norfolk? Obviously you’re not from Norfolk because where you should be is out the Ville or Park Place even Fort Worth finner Street
Park place use to be terrible when I was in middle and high school

Pretty crazy that I can tell you where you started your video and where you ended it. Lets see you started at Sewells Point Road then Five Points and Norview Ave. Then you ended you're video in Down Town Norfolk I'm going to say Roberts Park Area OR Bowling Park. I grew up in Norview lived off of Chesapeake Blvd.Wellington Oaks Harvey Court from 1975 to 1992. Graduated at Norview High School "GO PILOTS " in 1989.So yes I grew up in the HOOD, BUT I had a AWESOME childhood good memory's. 😁💖

Im a Navy brat..born in Norfolk,VA 😁
Rosemarie Contreras Same here I was born in Norfolk we’ll Virginia Beach same thing
Me too. I was stationed there for 7yrs. Used to live in VA Beach for a while. Then moved to a smaller apartment on little creek road
You need to go into the Ocean View section to see real shittiness.
They're tearing down the slums and building multimillion dollar houses now! OV is changing it you to be a one stop shop for drugs and hookers.
Go to Oakland CA
this is not Norfolk Virginia worst Hood apparently you're not from Virginia Hampton Roads area thank you
Go out Diggs Park An Oakleaf park an Berkley #Southside
I stayed out Berkley for a couple of years and it was ruff. It was cool because I knew a few people out there. I also stayed in Huntersville and Oceanview and those two are not that bad.
i drive the 20/6 short and long runs to ches. i took care of people in bad weather, occasionally took someone home that just got out of jail and didn't have much, even had a nice lady with a bunch of kids, called me Mr Rogers (usually i was the only white person all night).
Born and raised in Norfolk. Just like any where YOU GOT your good places and bad places.
Yo my grandparent live in Portsmouth P-town it pretty bad there at night they have so many damn projects and boarding houses it's crazy
Man that's a safe area
Nice houses and looks like a quiet place.
craig tiffany I was raised in Norfolk and it was a really nice place to grow up. A lot of those places weren't as bad back in the day.
Travels With Charlie 😊
One of my favorite Steinbeck books.
@ seven eleven. you say born in Norfolk but raised where, because this ain't Norfolk
I'm scared lol.
You must have not been to Richmond
Most the real gritty places have been torn down, development there is crazy. The very worst hood though is park place, which is absent.
scazzle bazzle yeah Norfolk getting crazy amounts of growth
Park place ain't bad
For those who don't have the memo of Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake and Virginia Beach, will get a rude awakening. All looks ain't alike and all fools ain't black, facts
"Worst hoods" 😂😂😂😂😂
the elders raised us with the strict saying...just because you live in the ghetto it does not mean it has to look like the ghetto...
