Do you have a problem with Jamal Adams' comments?
I have a problem with Ray Lewis tap dancing
Skip and Shannon: UNDISPUTED YES! #ShannonSharpe don't discount your (BRAIN). Your (BRAIN) tells your body to move....
No
Skip and Shannon: UNDISPUTED no because I feel like when it's your time then it's your time
No. The man loves football...I don't think for one second he meant it as disrespect torwards anyone. He knows the risk but still loves the violent game he plays.
Shannon give yourself credit. Not being great in school doesn't mean you're dumb. You're a good thinker
9:09... Instantly died? Really?
How rude. Your dad should've stuck around and raised you.
He's dumb
Y'all be killing me.. Lmfao
I'm dead 😂😵
Funny how Ray Lewis talks about safety lol. Him and Ed Reed damn near killed RBs and WRs😂😂😂😂😂
Damn near? Ray lewis did lol
Yo’s making a Ray Lewis is a killer joke
And killed someone lmao
Defense funny asf
Marc 😂😂😂😂😂
whenever Ray Lewis talks, he talks like he's in the huddle
he telling shannon that he about to shoot up the middle and sack the qb
and qb being Skeiiuuup
Illia Svobodny 😂😂😂
He got a gift of gab tho.. When he talk .. Ppl listen
Illia Svobodny he is talking championship mentality......must be bengirls and doo doo browns fans on this here post....scram it would be foriegn knowledge to you dummy's
Skip stepping in to stop Shannon talking about his intelligence is a true friendship moment. Say what you want about Skip, but he really put his neck out there to get Shannon on the show & that’s true character.
1000% agree with Shannon.
I love Shannon Sharpe and respect him dearly.
But he is wrong.
Let's look at this in the big picture.
Remember when people were working in terrible conditions without protection in coal and asbestos mines?
They got black lung and asbestos-related disease.
Obviously they had the same mentality like football players. This was maybe the only way they could provide for their families.
But the job was terribly dangerous.
We have of course improved working conditions and technologies in that regard so that the people working there are not unnecessarily exposed to hazardous elements. It is not worth it.
One might look at a Ray Lewis or Shannon Sharpe and see that they have made millions of dollars in earnings and with average saving skills, are set for life.
But think about the thousands of kids and young men who don't make it into the NFL and with all the head blows and concussions incurred from youth up, will suffer debilitating effects later on with little or nothing to show for it. Think about how much suffering this has on their families and community. This is one of the causes of marital violence, drug abuse and crime.
Is the human suffering worth it?
Is football in it's current form worth it?
We are better than this as a society. We need not expose our young men to unnecessary dangers like gladiators for a buck, for the entertainment of crowds and for the rich owners and TV executives.
People go through stress and depression everyday trying to pay their debts that are just as or just about as dangerous as playing football on the body and mind. Football players get paid millions doing what they love almost stress free so almost everyone would do that if they could to make a better life for themselves and their families.
Andrew Hagan
I feel you didn't really understand what I wrote.
Of the millions ( *the NCAA estimated there were around 1.1 million high school football players and nearly 70,000 college football players in the United States in 2012* ) that play football from elementary school till the pros, how many get to have a career making millions of dollars?
Now how many of these get repeated head blows, therefore risking Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE)?
Is the price work it?
I am not saying the fault is at the level of an individual.
As I wrote above, people will do anything to have a better life for themselves and their loved ones.
This game at least needs to change. It's unsafe. It's unnecessary. It ultimately enriches the owners, the media, the sport's apparel companies and NCAA.
Please watch the movie Concussion if you have not seen it yet.
Andrew Hagan stress free? Your statement holds no weight that fast.
Southern ApeMan I've been juggling 2 part time jobs and college for the last 3 years, I sleep about 4 hours on a good night.l, I'm saying that it's the same as football but that can't be good for you.
I’m a firefighter, I know the risk of the job and I know that every time I go to work I could get hurt or die. Knowing that I will continue to make that choice because I love the job.
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾
Yourself as well as other firefighters and people that put their lives on the line have always and will always have my respect. You all work crazy schedules deal with dangers your sacrifice is greatly appreciated 🙏🙏 May The Most High bless you
Alot of fire fighters are suffering from uncontrolable rage do to damage to thier brains. Some are punching thier wives in the face because of brain damage. I bet if you would have asked them before they signed up, they would not have listed that as a risk of the job. We need and salute fire fighters but need to do a better job at protecting them. I highly reccomend a SPECT Scan or functional scans to adress brain health, same for police officers and other high risk jobs.
Except that fire fighting is not for entertainment. You are saving lives. Football is purely for entertainment. Thats the whole point. Knowing what we know, would you risk that to get entertained?
skip is suffering from CTE everytime he debate about tebow and lebron lol
michael edwards lol facts
I would've rather seen Tebow in Jacksonville over blaine gabbert let alone blake bortles. He would've provided way more entertainment than those 2 did.
michael edwards
Lmfao
Nate Soto as a Jags fan, having suffered through Blake and Gabbs, I wanted ZERO part of Tim Tebow. Even Blake could throw better than him.
michael edwards damnnnnn🤣🤣
Jamal Adams is a class act, and driven. Passionate about this game and his team. Jets Nation is as fortunate as it gets to have this man. Mr. Adams, you deserve nothing but respect and we Jets fans thank you for everything you’ve done for us this season.
Did skip compliment Shannon? Where's the real skip what have you done with him 😂😂
Nah Iduntolja he’s a troll. He cares for Shannon and he cared for Skip as well but the point of the whole show is for them to argue.
Shannon is better than Steven A and Skip Bayless 🔥 spits fire
m12 greatestever that's like saying that Brady is better than Gabbert and Josh McCown - what do you want for stating the obvious?
Right, he makes better points without yelling at the camera as much as possible and without coming across pretentious.
Skipbayless needs mouthwash. That'll cure his spitting fire problem.
@@coreilly796 That was a real high and mighty response laced with minor sarcasm for no real reason. We're you bored that day? 😏
Steven A. is the opitome of a "blowhard". Usually, the people talking the loudest are saying the least.
There is also a lot of players who say they wont do it again. Being old and having issues versus 40-60 is very VERY different.
The worst fear is losing control and hurting your family in the process
Skip is a good person 👌🏾💯
I love their passion.
One of the most interesting and awesome convos between the 3. Love it.. Shannon Sharpe your a intelligent. So is Ray Lewis.
Smart is being book smart. Things you can learn from books. Intelligence you are born with something you can't coach or learn.. Its how you are and how you decipher things naturally. Things you can naturally do or think that you dont learn in a books.
Came back to this after Hamlin incident remember Adams saying this
Wow thank you Skip, didn’t let Shannon downplay himself like that.
Joy is better than molly..
The unknown Black you say that like we didn’t already know that😂 molly is trash
An NFL player who has probably sacrificed more than we could imagine just to get to the league doesn't have a problem dying on the very platform on which he does what he has always loved and dreamed to do. Sounds like a exceptional man to me.
Ray Lewis gets on TV & lets the CTE do the talking.
I knew I loved this guy pure animal
The more Ray Lewis talks, the more i realize that he isn't saying anything.
101311 oh really?
Nothing at all!! I thought he was gonna say something to bring his point all together but It never happened
Cte
101311 Lol. Thought I was the only one.
The Unlikely Pilot but he sounds so compelling 😂
Jamal Adams is bringing toughness to football, and the sponsors will not like that.
Eazy DuzIT That is a really ignorant way to look at it. Have you played in the nfl?, do you know how it feels to get blows to the head play after play?, no exactly. Players suffer great consequence from playing football and it had nothing to do with playing soft etc. It is simply the game of football itself. It's a dangerous sport and people are now discovering how playing it can have detrimental consequences. The NFL all around is very corrupt anyway, players have a lot of other problems other than CTE.
Eazy DuzIT I wouldn't say toughness but the thought of dying is obviously something that rubs people the wrong way but I love the passion he has
Shutup! U make no sense. what does toughness have to do with bringing in sponsors?
Young guys like Jamal Adams tend to believe their 10 ft tall and bulletproof.and don't think 5 -10 years down the road.
@@williambrightman5980 gotta respect the passion tho
This is why I love football. I wasn't born with super athlete football skills but if I was I would think the same way. There is more to football than just tackling. It's a sport of friendship, cohesiveness, and coming together. No superbowl winner has won without having 53 of 53 possible players buying into their system and doing whatever they can to win. Jamal feels thankful to have this opportunity to play in the NFL (although he didnt get there by luck; he is a fantastic player) and these comments show he doesnt want to waste it.
Completely agree with Adams
Can we trade Ray Lewis and Michael Vick both in for Skip and Bill Simmons.
Kenneth Bevineau also MAX KELLEMAN from espn! GREAT THINKER who loves equality and justice for ALL
I actually like skip tbh lol
BallHogElite max is an idiot and SJW
Skip and Rich Eisen!
Shannon is a genius, I’ve seen him quoting movies before this show he’s extremely smart
Shannon has that old man life experience and knowledge which makes you smart. This is particularly funny about shannon because he's not an old man
Ray lewis and Shannon sharp are very inspiring
People put their body and lives on the line everyday for a lot less!
5:51- classic Shannon meme
Thank you Skip. Shannon is smarter than he gives himself credit for.
to quote Bodie from Point Break. It’s not tragic to die, doing something you love to do!!
Mr. Sharpe is very well spoken and educated. Always enjoy his takes and perspectives on sports and social issues.
No problem with what he said, some don't understand that "Hunger" for change your life opportunities, the ability to change the course of your family's history, wasn't good enough to play College but I have worked very hard to change my families future....#WarriorMentality #ModernDayGladiators
Anthony Davis amen brother!
He doesn’t mean it literally I think what he’s trying too say is he’s forever grateful what the game has given him
All that is fine and dandy to say now until those headaches start kicking in until the voices start telling you harm yourself or someone else etc... hopefully for these players and the rest this unforgiving pain doesn’t creep into there lives then there singing a different tune
Shannon is intelligent man. Every time I watch this he always had a different response to what I originally think about any sports situation. He’s a pretty wise dude.
I LOVE Football. No matter the risk your Passion and Love for the game will never change if you truly love it.
I don't care what anyone says. Ray Lewis is my all time favorite player. Such a great person
Agreed
I went to Kathleen HighSchool like Ray Lewis did, and most of the football team felt this deeply about playing football, Lakeland Florida is one of the best cities in the best state for football, Something everybody has been doing since 1sr grade there. I played basketball and half the team was dual athletes.
It's not just dying, it's losing your mind before doing so.
And the debilitating diseases didn't happen at 45, but 85, in the nursing home.
With Cte it happens more rapidly. I'd say around late 50s and 60s. It can happen in the 40s though depending on severity.
Watching this 4 years later... Even though I totally disagree with 99 percent of what you say Shannon, you are just as smart and intelligent as you were athletic, and you were one of the best athletically. I will always argue your correctness in politics and sports but I can't argue with your intelligence.
I broke bones to suffer a few concussions. But I chose to play football from little league to college. And I would do it again in heartbeat.
That's like a person joining the military you know what you're getting into when you sign up
Cant help but respect a guy who says he is not the smartest guy in the world! I have the upmost respect for Shannon Sharpe
While I COMPLETELY DISAGREE with Shannon's refusal to use the term "Redskins", and I VERY RARELY AGREE with Skip, I agree with him here. Shannon is definitely a smart dude and is selling himself short.
Brian Sawyer Im native american and i HATE the name redskin .... Ok how about the tampa PALESKINS?
BallHogElite white people dont care about racist comments.
BallHogElite Well apparently most don't care about it according to the research that was done. so I doubt it gets changed.
I seen the 18 wheeler in the Walmart parking lot full of people not knowing it was full of people the night before they found it, I wish I knew... it’s insane and really sad. I just got reminded 2019 :(
Shannon more than right when he talks about football
Why dont they play the full clip instead of taking a small piece of what he said out of context
O they want you to watch the show on fs1
cant bruh, i dont watch TV this aint 1996.
TonyKingOfTheOzone I don't watch it on tv either I was just answering the question
ACPR _ i mean play the full clip of what jamal adams said. They takin his words out of context
TonyKingOfTheOzone lol
I'll liken to see Shannon and ray in the show together more cause they be dropping facts
That’s gotta be the nicest thing Skip has ever said to anyone
If doing what you love is dangerous and you love it with all your heart.... then its worth risking your life.
Yooooo that’s wild
When you get out of a situation you dont regress... you do anything to not regress.
I had a classmate that passed from a hit/tackle from football on the field.🏈🏈😥😥
You’re not living unless you’re doing what you love. As simple as that, completely understand willing to die doing what you love.
TBH I agree with jamal Adams because we all die one day so I rather die doing something I love 🙇🙏🏈🏆
It's not the game itself it's the money you make playing the game...PERIOD
craig brown money when spent the right way can go a long way
Man I got tackled and had a headache literally for three days, and I've never put equipment on since
silecrem it might not have anything to do with football some kids at an early age have other things going on health wise but that hit just brought it to the surface... just saying 😕
U soft !
Joshua Hollins U stupid
Man you're so soft..
@@joeyallen4368 Gtfoh the majority of football fans are ignorant and stupid. Nothing soft about choosing your health over a meaningless GAME. CTE can affect a person that's played HS football let alone college and beyond (which is the path a lot of professional football players take). This is a very physical game that takes a heavy toll on players bodies which is why one of the demands for the new CBA is free healthcare for life.
I love this SHOW!!!!!
Jamal Adams is a Beast.
Nobody:
Shannon: SKIIUUPP
In the first Point Break movie with Keanu Reeves..Body (Patrick Swayze)said..It's not tragic to die doing what you love..!!I feel the same way honestly!!
Skip: you're more book smart than you give yourself credit.
Shannon: don't talk back to me skip!!!!!!
This is why I love skip
Joy stays looking like a snack 😍 😍 😍
You have low standards
She overweight
@@philipchampion You're buggin'.
@@NotebookLives definitely overweight. But hey, to each their own.
@@NotebookLives I think a girl shouldn't be over 130lbs unless she's like 5'9"....
I actually really liked skips war analogy for this topic
I like how one is seen as heroic for playing a "stupid game" with the probability of death or injury (sarcastically speaking) when compared to those who actually died for unpopular reasons...
Shannon Sharpe, you are an extremely, highly intelligent man.
"EVERYDAY!"
I’d never ask someone to die for their job and run themselves into the ground for any career but I also don’t really knock on this dude for saying if something happens, he’d be ok with it.
Ive come to this conclusion on CTE. As long as you know the risks of playing football, and are willing to keep playing for the love of the sport, if something happens to you dont blame it on the NFL. The facts are out now and you are well aware of the risks that go with it. Just like any other dangerous job you take on. You like what you do and the money that comes with it, except the risks that go with it. No one now can say that didn't know about CTE.
Yeah, I Agree. Tackle football should be postponed until 16. At that age, a person should be able to decide if they want to take the risk
Skip saying Shannon is smarter than he thinks. Shows how kind skip really is. Real dawg
Still remember the pride in my helmet after games when it would be scarred and gouged up. Broken straps and all. Great times.
Jamal Adams sounds like a G
Shannon them blue marks on a white helmet woooo 😂🔥
JV football I was running back an interception and my homie our middle backer was lead blockin for me and it was just the QB in front of us and he leveled this kid so hard that my homies face mask caved in. It was the craziest thing I've ever seen 😂 the marks on the helmet talk reminded me of that
If u don't have anything you're willing to die for then u don't need to live
Lol idk about not needing to live but I get what you mean
Fr
I mean when Shannon said that unless there’s a 100% chance of not getting CTE related diseases by not playing football he would of thought about it doesn’t make sense to me, I mean when looking at the numbers it’s pretty damn close to 100%
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved
@@meast21 but you sure will plead to God
This is why I am completely against religion
Shannon your extremely smart.
Which is why football is the ultimate gladiator sport
You assume a risk with almost any job you do.
Just media reaching for something. Dude just loves playing football and he understands the risk involved. Ppl are way too sensitive these days
I mean I think dying doing anything you love is fine since your always putting your all into that activity
Every one is talking now till they have CTE
I think what maybe Shannon doesn't realize is that he's not really in a position to say whether he would make the same decision. Effects of CTE are late onset. When your not able to remember your name, or do basic activities, or remember your loved ones you might feel differently about the decision to play football. Other aspects of football, like breaking a leg, torn ligaments..those are immediate consequences that you can 1. be fixed typically, and 2. you can prepare better for in the future. But CTE isn't. Everytime you take a hit your contributing to your risk of CTE when you might not even know it. And you don't have a way to protect yourself from it moving forward, there's not specific exercises you can do to strengthen muscles to protect against it for example. Or different techniques...Playing football is the risk. Also there's currently 0 treatment. So once you have it's not going away. I also hope Shannon doesn't think that he had to play football to be successful. He's incredibly smart and thoughtful and could have done many other things. I also hope really hope he doesn't have CTE and that treatments do become available. Also the whole thing about chance...very few things create a 100% chance of something happening, there's always variation. But, I think the data is pretty clear on the massive risk of CTE from football. Would I stab myself in the head with a knife for 20 millions dollars knowing that it will greatly increase my risk of dying and debilitating mental disease knowing that if I didn't there's perhaps still a small chance I could get something like dementia?
the only reason players get some many concussions is because most players don't know how to tackle mostly corner backs that's why that position goes higher near the collar or shoulders
Like Lamar Gary always says: "It is not if you die, or even when that counts,; but how you live and die will determine what you are."
CTE starts early yes it's fun the Oklahoma drills high school backyard football clashing your Mtf over and over again
Click bait bs! The dude never said anything about CTE. Anyone who played football or sports for that matter knows what he meant by having an undying passion for something that in his world, going out in the field would be his preference. Alas though people need something to lie about and misconstrue so they can make tv shows and ish.
People go through stress and depression everyday trying to pay their debts that are just as or just about as dangerous as playing football on the body and mind. Football players get paid millions doing what they love almost stress free so almost everyone would do that if they could to make a better life for themselves and their families.
Andrew Hagan the training for football is not stress free wth are you talking about...Not seeing your wife and kids that you love and care about for months at a time is not stress free...
Of course Ray likes the idea of death
Wait I thought CTE was a technology class in school 😂
🤦🏿♂️
🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
At the end of the day football is a choice, if you don't want to play because you are worried about the future. Another man will be right behind you ready to take that opportunity & take that chance.
Lmao all these salty black live matter supporters mad at ray Lewis 😂😂
I do not know much about organized football. My father would not let me play it so I took up soccer. I know some soccer players have CTE and maybe that fate will get me. But I do know how to make soccer safer and that is the reason for this post. Besides being a NCAA D1 player I was a coach - 40 years ago. And I played 10 years after college in various leagues. Now I would not have a team practice heading. Soccer should get rid of goal kicks, corner kicks, and goalie punts, where a ball travelling at a high rate of speed is headed. Maybe get rid of heading entirely like they do with kids. What can they do with football? Flag football for kids? Less contact in practice? When there is a legitimate test for CTE in the living they we have some decisions to make. I think it is going to be more common than we realize.
Skip a real one
When you have a love or a passion for something, you will be willing to die for it
