Hey Trav, I watch some of your training videos. A few pointers from a small goalie. This would really help a big goalie since your size alone should stop 85% of the shots if you are in the right position, square and with perfect technique. Larger goalies get away with being sloppy until they get to higher levels so they aren't usually that focused on perfection in that area. When you slide around and move laterally your hands and stick are all over the place. You look like someone drowning in a lake. Also you seem to always slide past the shot and your almost never square to the shot when moving laterally (meaning you blow by the shooter and don't put on the brakes or don't get there with a hard enough push) I think focusing on these issues will help you tremendously. Honestly I tried using film to slide better on my pads and I had a lot of the same issues I see you are having. It makes it too slippery and tends to allow you to slide around out of control. I took mine off. I saw Pasco attempt to point this out to you but not sure how much emphasis he put on it. I recommend paying attention to Lyons of the Florida Panthers. I watched him play Providence last year as my teammates son is on the checkers. His technique is awesome. Modeling your movement and hand glove and stick positioning after his should elevate your game substantially simply on size alone. TEQNIQUE AND FUNDAMENTALS are the key! Best wishes this season!
Your right I noticed that about Trav too he does look like he’s swimming, I was always a forward but I can play goalie anytime and know to be square to the shooter and that positron is actually quite easy. Some ppl get it and some just never do but great advice @JosephAccetturoll
It doesn’t hurt to hear it enough times. I’ve been a guitarist my entire life and if someone points out a basic and fundamental technique that I learned twenty years ago and 100 times since, I’ll be happy to listen. I’ve learned a lot about goalies from Trav but your comment really reinforces all of that. Trav’s been working hard on all these things for years. Since the beginning. It’s a daily battle and it doesn’t stop when you get older. Your approach is friendly but perhaps acknowledge that Trav is way ahead of you and assume he already knows this stuff. Instead of “tips” just leave a comment so that you’re both on the same level. It’s not about YOU teaching HIM. It’s abo watching the video and leaving a comment about something you both already know. It’s about consistency and reminders and holding each other accountable. Not teaching. Or giving tips. Anyway 😛 As my dad always used to say, less is more.
Glad to see you are fully concentrating on the task at hand with very little distraction. Hoping all goes well with the season ahead. Stay focused and hungry! Peace!!
Trav love your videos , i was in Watertown today my son is stationed at Fort Drum, why do the wolves have six goalies on their roster? They just added a new guy from Quebec yesterday? What kind of commitment is that to you? I just hope watertown is offering you a legit opportunity,, you work hard and your a great person to root for . By the way there is no signage for the wolves on I-81 they need to better market their team.
Trav you came UP to Muskoka 😉 hope you enjoyed my and many others stomping grounds. Best of Luck and happy to see you'll be teamed up with Eloi this year. Looks like it'll be a great one!
Hey Travis! Greater Metro Jr A hockey league has a team near me called the Bradford bulls. I think they become affiliated with the River Dragons in 2019,2020 or 21. You talk about them in your videos and wanted to mention that. I think it’s cool. Next season I will watch a practice in Bradford maybe one day you will be on the team. Good luck this season I will be rooting for you. Also Does your hockey cards have your stats on the back ?
That’s a great idea. I’d love to send Trav a Canadian care package with some maple syrup and stuff during the season. Really wanna pick up the jersey too 😛. It’s at the top of my list.
@Trav you have definitely battled through some adversity past few seasons. The storm has passed now and the sun is coming out. It's your time to shine. You're season will be great! 💪💪💪 Also, I've followed for a few years now. Always wanted to ask.... where did the "4 oilers" come from? I also just noticed that its gone and just Trav now. Catch me up on the story brother!
Why do you tend to keep your glove open when it enters the pocket and bring it down to the ice? Just curious, I've never seen it before, maybe I'll start on a similar technique.
Hey trav I think a good idea for some future videos would be to do a live commentary on some of your old video and show how much you have changed your play. I’ve been watching you since jr hockey in lundar and it’s amazing to see how far you have come and maybe you should go back and live react. Just a fun idea I think for you to do.
I have a question for trav, or anyone with an answer. How do you guys keep the net in place during practice? I'm 6'5 215lbs, and the pegs we have at my rink are not enough to keep me from moving the net when I push hard off the post. Some people have told me to just not push so hard, but that means I can't move around the crease as quickly, so I pray there is a better way.
Love it trav I’m also the worst golfer in the world but it’s fun with the right people Thanks for showing people that it’s all right to try new things Keep grinding Love ya buddy
Highlight of the video is as definitely Muskoka. I’ve only heard amazing things about it. Seems like a bit of a fairytale make-believe land 😛. Keep your head up brother. We’re going through similar things right now. Your video was the first one I clicked on after taking a few days off of UA-cam. Just saying. I’ve never played sports 😛. Love ya man. Don’t lose sight of your potential and don’t forget all the work you put in. We are all rooting for you. PS: nothing hits harder than a full Loblaws rotisserie chicken and a fork. If you know, you know.
Looking better and better every episode. You seem to be in a better place than before. It's definitely obvious that your concentration level has increased. See you in the den 13 Oct, or sooner around H2Otown.
Woah guys Trav’s copying me, a video about your personal trainer and the facility you training that has synthetic ice? Smh quit stealing my content guy
“I’m very proud to call him my personal trainer.” ….as John is just laying down on the floor with his head on a pillow not paying attention to a single thing except being on his phone… what a hard working guy 😂😂😂😂

Also, I've followed for a few years now. Always wanted to ask.... where did the "4 oilers" come from? I also just noticed that its gone and just Trav now. Catch me up on the story brother!
I was a childhood oilers fan and there were no jets when I made the channel!
Why do you tend to keep your glove open when it enters the pocket and bring it down to the ice? Just curious, I've never seen it before, maybe I'll start on a similar technique.
EUROPEAN style. Catch it without closing means you can catch it closing IT
This video was hip! 😎
Well played

I think so too, maybe even a before and after comparison ;)
I've always wondered what the ice quality is like in that mini rink, having seen it many times in your other videos.
Its def not the same as a regular rink but ice is ice in my situation! Im thankful to skate with buj!
Hoping to get up to Watertown for a game this year best of luck!
See ya soon!
nice video, what is the purple thing under your pads? socks? pls link it :)
those are motor city socks!
thanks man appreciate you, keep going! @@trav4oilers
OP.... why are you dropping into the RVH when the puck is moving laterally? Stand up and don't drop into the butterfly so early.
which time stamp are you taking about?
Hi Trav. Just wanted to say have a good day🙂👍
you too elias!

There are pegs you can buy that have multiple prongs. I forget the name though!

“You know you’ve reached middle age when you’re cautioned to slow down by your doctor, instead of by the police.”
Acting like Muskoka and Hamilton are 15 minutes apart! How'd the rest of the weekend in Muskoka go!?

“I’m very proud to call him my personal trainer.” ….as John is just laying down on the floor with his head on a pillow not paying attention to a single thing except being on his phone… what a hard working guy 😂😂😂😂
Pretty sure that was Bujan (goalie coach) who was lying down and not John (trainer) who you are referring to.
@@goatsonapost oh ok if that’s the case then my bad lol the context of it sure made it seem like that was John
john is not physically in this video, or at least in the present clips. Thats buj!
