  • In this video, i will be showing you how to make a simple book stand out of plywood material. this is a beginner friendly project, it is actually my first time building it. i made a quick tablesaw fence jog to assist me in cutting 30-degree acute angles.
    This bookmark stand is great for your bedside, it helps you to remember to read every morning and night. i absolutely love my book stand, hopefully you will make this interesting build for yourself.
    This is stand that will get you a lot of orders, you will make a great profit margin, if you start batching out these, they are made in 1 Full day, or if you are busy like me, in 2 days.
    Thank you for liking the video. It's very helpful for a small youtube channel like mine. As well as you that subscribed, we will enjoy future projects coming up. Comment if you have any questions for me.

    This is soothing to watch (as always 😃) to watch, and looks doable. Although the saw is scary 😬I definitely need this bookstand for myself. Hope these are up for sale 😅

    I dig it.
    I have a handful of notes, things I might try if I make one of these myself:
    1) Take the arbor out of your hole saw after you get the cut started, so that when you route it out the bottom of the cup holder is smooth and doesn't have the drill hole in the middle. It will make it look cleaner.
    2) Get some finish on the inside of the triangle and the bottom of the piece as well. Nothing says "this piece is unfinished" quite like it being, well, not *finished*, you know?
    3) This is just me, but I would move the pencil groove to be crosswise in between the cup holder and the stand. Having it off to the side like that makes the whole piece look unbalanced. A bit lopsided. Maybe I'm being too particular about this, but it's what I would do.

      A big enough forsner bit would be best for the cup holder... with the pencil, i wish i had put it on the left side instead of right, since i sleep on the right side of the bed,now i have to reach over to get my pencil... otherwise, its a really awesome stand. Reminds me to read a chapter before and after i go to bed, i been tryna improve my reading habits

    What router bit did you use on the inside of the circle (cup holder)?

    • @shawwoodworkingdiy
      @shawwoodworkingdiy  3 місяці тому

      I use an 18mm straight bit to hog out all of the material

    I think I may give this a try. I was really confused on the angles (not uncommon for me), but I get it now. Nice simple project.

    • @shawwoodworkingdiy
      @shawwoodworkingdiy  4 місяці тому +1

      Hehe they were pretty confusing for me too at first, but with this fence jig, its simple....its an awesome little stand, reminds me to read every night at morning, unlike when i have my books stacked away

    • @shawwoodworkingdiy
      @shawwoodworkingdiy  4 місяці тому +1

      Atleast i ddnt confuse u further😅

    • @mariondorsett
      @mariondorsett 4 місяці тому

      @@shawwoodworkingdiy I'm starting to understand more that with angles sometimes it's like you're looking in a mirror, and it all makes sense, but you're looking at it in reverse. Your jig is at 90 degrees, the saw is at 60 degrees so the resulting angle cut on your wood is the 30 degree difference.

    Hey brother love your stuff, i only recently found your channel and subbed, this is my favorite design of a book holder, Can you please send me the details of this like measurements or where you got the info from. I love this build.

      @shawwoodworkingdiy  Місяць тому

      Hi there Matty... im glad u loved the design... i mentioned the dimensions throughout the video.. using metric measurements, if u follow along, ul get all the sizes

    • @mattyallred
      @mattyallred Місяць тому

      @@shawwoodworkingdiy I did write them downbut im not sure if i am correct, I wrote roughly of memory 18 cm and 20 cm width both at 19 cm, the bottom board at 30cm i think, wasnt sure if you had a diagram i could follow. I have only just got in to wood working and i think i have a bit of doubt with my first piece which is this haha, I just want to make sure i get it right

    • @shawwoodworkingdiy
      @shawwoodworkingdiy  Місяць тому

      @mattyallred hehe i understand, i was the same when i started out aswell. Those are the rough plans, i also ddnt have plans, i mostly went with feeling when building this stand... i will look into making exact plans for my future builds. Glad to have you as a subscriber, hopefully i bring value to your DIY journey 😉

      @@shawwoodworkingdiy Much appreciated brother, I noticed not many wood working channels i watch give many plans, they give rough ones, so far i found 2 people who give the better plans and thats beardedviking and you. It helps us noobies starting out haha

      @mattyallred awesome, no problem.. il put the dimensions on screen next time, to make it easier to follow along. Check out my latest build. I would love to hear what u think of it 😉

    I like it and will try making it. I just have one question. I don't really like the drill hole in the cup holder, why wouldn't you use your router only to cut it out?

    • @shawwoodworkingdiy
      @shawwoodworkingdiy  4 місяці тому

      Im glad u like it,u shuld definitely give it a try....yes, you could use a router alone to keep it clean.. i used the holesaw, so i could get clean edges... i dont have a router jig to make small circles... maybe you could just fill the hole with a dowel or get a big enough forsner bit, then u wont have a hole

    • @dgeralsh25
      @dgeralsh25 4 місяці тому

      I am definitely going to give it a try. It should make the perfect gift for a few readers I have on my list. Thank you for the video and keep them coming@@shawwoodworkingdiy
