- According to Mitch Hawker's wooden internet coaster poll of 2012
I do not own nor did I film any of the povs included in this video, they were filmed by professionals with permission from the park. I only Compiled the footage.
The makers were Ecoasters, Theme Park Review, Coasterforce, Holiday World, Gravity group, and The Coaster Views.

If THE BEAST isn't included, this list is invalid!!!!
I don’t get how you are such a big fan of rough straight track
@@UncleMasterChefOBdaGodOrSumIDK Such a disingenuous comment.
kings island is so underrated they have good rides like banshee BEAST diamondback
John Zisko Theyre not underrated but are amazing . It is the 3rd best park in the u.s behind magic mountain and cedar point in my opinion as well as many others .
hah i live 4 minutes from kings island
I'm so happy the Phoenix at Knoebels grove made the list! I love that roller coaster!
It's a shame Lightning Racer did not make it. That's another really fun one.
SupermarketSweep777 Agreed.
KentuckyWallChicken I agree with you. Phoenix is an awesome coaster, and I can't wait to go on it again this year!
Many of these look great, but I can't believe "The Beast" at King's Island of Ohio is not on this list. After more than 30 years of service, that is still the best 'woodie' I have ever ridden!
Where is the beast kings island its better than most of these
Lol. Who talks crap to people about a rollercoaster? The Beast is still a great wooden rollercoaster. Doesn't matter the rank. They all look pretty cool and I love seeing the different rides.
I love the beast.
You can never forget The Beast! Shame
Without “the beast” other wooden coasters wouldn’t matter. It had to start somewhere. I personally love it, for the nostalgia more than anything, and the night riding is still great! Probably not the most exciting coaster, but it has yet to get old.
I am absolutely sure that there are a few from this list that could have easily been removed in favor of including The Beast. Even at 35, it is still regarded as THE wooden coaster to which all others are compared. It is still the granddaddy of them all.
To the few people that are knocking The Beast....take a look at how many people are upset at it not making the list!!! Case closed....
Pro tip : watch series on flixzone. Been using it for watching lots of of movies during the lockdown.
@Matias Carmelo Yea, I have been using flixzone for since november myself :D
@Matias Carmelo Definitely, I've been watching on flixzone for since december myself =)
@Matias Carmelo yup, I have been watching on Flixzone for months myself :D
It's actually one of only four of its kind, and they're all in this video. Colossos, Balder, T Express, El Toro. They use prefabricated track, where the track is precision-manufactured to exact dimensions in a factory and bolts on to the support structure, this results in a smoother ride than most STEEL COASTERS. Normally, wooden coaster track is built and shaped on the structure by hand, which is much less precise and results in a rougher ride.
Who else wishes the beast at Kings Island was here?
me, the beast is MILES better than * shiver * "el toro"... el toro's just plain uninspired and bland, the beast however has a mission, and that mission being to show you just what happens when a wooden coaster is done right.
+fuzzyferretdude
So, long straightaways without any airtime hills or other elements is a wooden coaster done right? I guess pretty much EVERY other roller coaster is doing it wrong, then.
The Beast is the best Wooden Roller Coaster out their.
Boulder Dash exists.
leaving the beast and shivering timbers out of this list is a sin
I am glad to see that Phoenix made the list. What an awesome coaster.
One of my favorite wooden roller coaster is the boardwalk bullet from Kemah tx
Whoever put The Beast 48th needs a reality check. The Beast will never leave the Top 10 in my (and a lot of other people's) eyes.....
What's so great about The Beast? I went on it, felt nothing afterwards. Hated it. In my book, Boulder Dash is the best. May not be for you, but who gives a shit.
I love beast, its amazing after the retrack a couple of years ago
Yeah seriously why isn't the longest wooden coaster on here!?!?! THE BEAST!!
on point with number one....the only ride in the world where im screaming and laughing at the top of my lungs at the same time :)
YESSSSSSS was watching this just to hope el toro go in there, and it's #1! This ride is so much scarier and much more fun than Kingda Ka just across the way. The sharp turns, sheer speed, and feel of a steel coaster just makes it an incredible experience
I saw Boulder dash. I’ve went on that I love right next to the park. So fun
The beast
To anybody who is saying "Where is The Beast? You suck for not putting on the list?", The Beast is ranked 47 out of 168 wooden coasters.
Source????
Heel Charisma Click the "Link to coasterpoll:" in the video description.
ok
oh hey it's you
***** 581 people who voted on the poll.
I love how The Voyage takes up about a fourth of the whole video.
Finally!!! Someone has done it right and added the "Ravine Flyer 2" from my favorite Water park/ Amusement Park in Erie PA. This ride was one of the best until it was rebuilt into the "Ravine Flyer 3" and at that point it was sent across the Bay front or peninsula Drive and back like it originally did back in the 50's. let me tell you folks.....if your looking for thrills of a by-gone era, go to "Waldameer Park" in Erie PA.
Where is Mean Streak from Ceder Point or the Beast from Kings Island?
Mean streak is shit
For everyone asking "Where's the Beast?" this is based on the 2012 Mitch Hawker poll which is a survey and, while I consider the Beast to be a classic wooden coaster, that's not what's "in" right now. This is a survey poll and what's in right now is wooden coasters packing a ton of airtime which is why all 4 Intamin pre-fab coasters and The Voyage are on here. I consider The Beast to be a top 10 woodie and I've never even been on it but I can also see every coaster on this list making a strong bid for the top 10 as well.
Your gay
Greg Day His gay what?
ReakMayhem LOOL IM DYING BRO that's so much better than saying you're * lmao
The Beast used to be great. It's okay now, but they've slowed it down too much. Honestly The Voyage kicks its ass now.
He needs to re-title this list then, because if it holds a record, it should probably make the list. And the Beast still holds the longest wooden roller coaster record.
Having ridden El Toro, I can tell you that it as good as everyone says. Amazing airtime on the ride. Best place to ride it though is in the back. The trains are so long that you are pulled down the first hill and every hill arfer that for insane ejector air. Overall a good list though.
Cool. There is something special about woodies. I love them, they rock. I'm from Toronto Canada and we have a great park. It's called Canada's Wonderland and there are 3 wooden coasters there. 2 for adults and 1 for the kids. I really love to ride these coasters. Cheers to you
I live by waldameer and the ravine flyer makes your face peel back its insane
El toro is hands down the best wooden roller coaster ever
No.
Have you ever rode El Toro? Plus, it was voted the best wooden roller coaster.
I actually think Collosus at Heide park is a bit better because it is larger and has more airtime hills... however I haven't ridden either of them and I can't judge
el toro's a joke, if you want a REAL wooden coaster, check out the beast, it's thunderous, it rumbles, and goddamn is it a rush.
fuzzyferretdude Beast does nothing but goes through the woods slowly with lots of brakes... Toro destroys Beast in every possible category besides length
There is a good one in Ireland at Tayto Park called The Chucullain made by the Gravity group.
for people hateing on the beast try to remember how old it is. when they built it in 79 coasters where not that popular as they are now nor did they have the technology we have today. back then most coasters eather went out and back like the racer did with a few hills inbetween or a figure 8 layout for compact coasters. the beast blew everything away when it came out there was nothing like it anywhere else in the world it showed people that coasters can be so much more.
Even though El Toro is prefab laser cut track, it is still all wood with metal slat toppers like all traditional woodies. The layout of the track, however, is a hybrid of out and back and twister.
youve clearly never heard of the beast that has won the award for best wooden roller coaster for like 20 straight years
doesn't anyone appreciate The Cyclone anymore? it may not have the height and speed of the newer wooden roller coasters, but damn, it is still the one that people return to again and again. I think my friend broke a watch crystal on the ride once. I still love it.
People who dismiss The Cyclone are people who haven't ridden it. It may be old and even small, but it's intense.
Thanks for this upload! This was fun to watch.
I AGREE BEAST IS AWESOME AND A CLASSIC KINGS ISLAND!
I know right
Just like to point out, the music played for "Colossos" at Heidi park in Germany is actually from "Colossus" at Thorpe Park in the UK rather than the one in germany :)
A poll is an opinion nothing else. Of course everyone likes to see their personal favorites of course and somehow people have become invested on how well it does on these opinion lists. The beast is a great ride.the best night coaster I've been on.I understand your comment of feeling it being over rated - If you didn't ride it in the 80s or 90s you wouldn't know they've slowed the ride down immensely from it's early years with the placement of brakes in various locations. Son of Beast was killer.
Phoneix will always be my favorite coaster in the world mainly because it was my first ever coaster.
Thank you----Boulder Dash is amazing.....We ride it every year...
They all look great - can't beat the nice wooden coasters. They "seem" to give you a nice long ride compared to the over-and-done-with-quick newer steel ones - or maybe it just seems that way.
Great collection.
There is nothing that tops "The Beast" experience at Kings Island. It is the only wooden coaster that actually lives up to the hype.
The Voyage, Legend and Raven are the only things that save growing up in Indiana from utter terribleness.
Thank goodness for hunter Edwards thunderbolt is the best it says on the sign above the track WORLD FAMOUS!!!
you need to check your coasters. Outlaw Run was the first to have two barrel rolls in a row, but Son Of Beast (now gone unfortunately) had a vertical loop years ago, and I believe Iron Rattler has a barrel roll.
The only one I've ridden is the Phoenix .. I think that was my first wooden roller coaster and definitely one of my favourites! Knoebels sure does have quite a variety of rides. I loved the other wooden one there, too, I think it's called Twister? Not sure, but I remember loving them both when I went two years ago!
I've been on 9 7 543 n 1. And totally agree all should be in top 10 and el toro is definitely number 1. Some honorable mentions that should be in top 10 maybe are Wodan. Europa park. & Thunderhead Dollywood
Yes, I love the boulder dash
Yes El Toro #1! It truly is and I'm blessed to ride about every week and I'm spanish so yea lol
I actually read about the algorithm the poll creator uses to tally his results and I must admit it is quite impressive. The only problem is that people can lie and skew the results.
where is the beast guys? i would even take the son of the beast even though its not there anymore but still the son of the beast had a frickin' loop in it!!!
The beast is awesome!!!
Boulder Dash is a 45 minute drive away, so much fun.
I only live about 5 minutes from Boulder dash so I've been on it so many times and I don't think it's that good but it's probably the best dollar coster at lake compunce
Kaitlin Siedel I miss the Enterprise a bit though, haven't gone on Phobia though.
phobia is scary the first time you go on but after that its so fun
check out the new wooden roller coaster in sweden, its called wildfire at the park kolmarden.. Its really intense with a inverted zero g stall after the drop!!
That's a cool video, but you forgot the best wooden coaster of all. The Beast at kings island. By far the most incredible wooden coaster in existence.
The results of the 2013 poll are in. El Toro @ Six Flags Great Adventure is ranked number 1 again with T Express @ Everland in 2nd, Outlaw Run @ Silver Dollar City in 3rd, Boulder Dash @ Lake Compounce in 4th, and Phoenix @ Knoebel's in 5th. The Bandit @ Movie Park Germany is ranked dead last out of 175 wooden coasters. And as I said about Hades 360 @ Mt Olympus, it ranked in 168th place instead of last place. And if you are crying about the placing of The Beast @ Kings Island, it ranked in 48th place so there you go.
I rode the ravine flyer 5 times total and it never gets old
the best part is that it's in a park that is very inexpensive to get into. I also live like 1 hour from there
You missed The Beast, as you can tell by all the comments, it's great. I would say better than 5 or more of the ones you showed.
i've only ridden 7 wooden coasters in my life but heres my opinion what it should be: 7: idlewild's rollo coaster 6: kennywood's jack rabbit 5: kennywood's racers 4: hershey's comet 3: kennywood's thunderbolt 2: hershey's lightning racers 1: hershey's wildcat
#1, outlaw run, that one is CRAZY
This video was made before Outlaw run was built. That is also why Goliath at Six Flags Great America wasn't in there.
True, but couldn't they edit the video?
RoCraft Videos Well it would be kinda hard to edit out a whole coaster and add an entire coaster.
oh I see
Athletic Studios have you ever rode el toro?
Whatttt no Beast??? Slap yoself fool.
They might be fun, but they sure are rough. I lovee the voyage, i rode it yesterday! :)
I had to mute the noise unfortunately. Prefer just the sound of the coaster itself.
El Toro is so fun! But when I went on it was pouring rain and it was actually painful. I don't recommend going on it in the rain.
5: Voyage
4: Boulder Dash
3: Beast
2: T Express
1: El Toro
Everyone knows The Beast should not only be on the list, but in the top 3. Its over 30 years old and STILL one of the best roller coasters ever. It was my first roller coaster ever and boy what a way to start. After riding that first its safe to say there are not to many rides out there that can intimidate you.
I would like to suggest to all of you.. The Wooden Coaster in Knight Valley, China. May not be #1 or #2. But, it's is awesome! Just UA-cam Wooden Coaster. Great footage.
Renegade in michigan I do believe. it looks amazing. VERY underrated in my opinion and not known well enough. El Toro is amazing. home park =}
Right now the first one would be lighting rod a Dollywood at pigeon forge
didn't choose them, used Mitch Hawker's internet coaster poll
The Beast should be on here too! i enjoyed that Boulder Dash
it opened before the video and the poll was made
The Prowler at Worlds of Fun should be on this list
(5:15)
Its Liseberg (in Gothenburg sweden), not Leiseburg =)
Check out there new build, it´s called Helix. Not a wooden coaster though, but it will be badass-huge.
Thanks for the vid!
Wow great music!
I love Boulder Dash omg, that ride is rickety as hell and fast
WHERE ON EARTH IS THE BEAST!!!!! That is 10 times better than any of the ones on there!
where is the beast at kings island on this countdown
EL TORO NUMBER 1!!!!! YEAH!! GREAT VIDEO!!
My top 10
10. gold striker
9.comet
8. Phoenix
7. Voyage
6.colossus
5. Coaster at pne playland
4. Boulder dash
3. Balder
2. Outlaw run
1. El toro
most people still think hades is just a normal coaster still, it got track taken out and the 360 was put in its place,
Texas Giant has been unfortunately turned into a steel roller coaster. It is good, but it is steel, and I'm a wood coaster lover. Steel, smooth, going upside down...it all gets old very quickly while wood never gets old.
Mitch's wood coaster poll, let's not forget, is only a culmination of a whole bunch of people's opinion.
Having ridden the majority of America's wood coasters since 1982, including most of the woodies defunct since 82, my top 10 is nothing like this.
I rode the voyage yesterday and it's intense
This ranking is completely invalid without The Beast from Kings Island even making the list.
Shut up. That's your opinion. Stop hating because your favorite didn't make the list. Mine did. Yours didn't. Live with it.
GhostDraakon hater , you've been saying that or something similar when people complain that coasters that deserved to make the list did not
GhostDraakon So your saying Number 10 Beats the Beast the 9th fastest and longest wooden coaster. What is your favorite the kidde ride at 10.
Shade Slinger Well I can see the ignorance of the statements made. Quite predictable. The Beast happens to be the third longest roller coaster in the world and THE longest wooden roller coaster. It has held that record since it opened 36 years ago. It is also the longest roller coaster in the United States. It reaches speeds of up to 70 miles per hour, has THE best finale of any coaster on the planet and the night ride can't be beat. When you find a coaster that holds those credentials and for as long then we can talk. Otherwise it might be a good Idea to know what you are talking about before opening your mouth.
you have got the music mixed up at the number 9 coaster thats collouse at thorpe park the music you have put with it
Wait... I vote for The Voyage at holiday world to be #1, It's amazing!!
What the heck?!?!? How come one of my favorite roller coasters was not in here??? It's called the bullet. It's in Kemah Texas!!!
Out of all of these,I would have voted t express to be #1 since it is the only one on the list I have rode.
Conneaut Lake Park's blue streak should be on here a true old school wooden coaster built in 1937 and still going strong
I was so freaking scared on the yankee cannonball and seeing that it didn't make this list shows i am sort of stupid for being so scared but the seatbelts on yankee cannonball don't tighten well so you go flying every 2 seconds
awesome list El Toro is the best for sure
Everland's T-Express is the best you can literally feel the inertia.
ravine flyer 2 is a fantastic coaster on of my favorites
WHAT THE HECK WHERE IS THE BEAST AND THE RACER??????
What about shivering timbers from michigan's adventure?
Yea that's fun
Hades in wisconsin dells is pretty good. it goes underneath the parking lot, comes out the otherside and has a freakin' LOOP! yeah, a loop on a wooden rollercoaster. It should atleast make honorable mention or something.
The outlaw run is the only operating wood to go upside down
