- #VanLifeUk #BenNevis #Vegan All the Vegan Food we ate in one day climbing Ben Nevis in Scotland, UK (after overnight wildcamping in our campervan Frida, park-up details below)
All food featured is plant-based : breakfast lunch and dinner, as well as Vegan friendly snacks, whilst climbing the highest mountain in Great Britain 🏔 We even eat at a famous Scottish pub in Glencoe (we can't get enough of vegan Haggis ) 😋
This part of our Van Life UK journey takes us to Fort William and Glencoe in Scotland after our mammoth North Coast 500 adventure (previous episodes in this series)
All the vegan food in this video was purchased from Morrisons, and the meal was from the Clachaig Inn in Glencoe or Glen Coe (we saw it spelt both ways) clachaig.com/
The campsite we stayed at was the Red Squirrel campsite in Glencoe. A no frills place but they allow campervans redsquirrelcam...
The wild camping spot / park-up was at the foot of Ben Nevis and the start of the footpath to go up it. It is the small car park next to the Ben Nevis Inn - the car park has enough for about 10 campervans or cars. There are toilets in the pub next to it or over the river (5mins) by the visitor center

Aww.. how cute was Janine when she heard about the chocolate! 🥰💖
Love Ben Nevis - I did a midnight trek up it for charity with only head torches - it was intense but fantastic!!! Went not knowing a soul and left with a lifelong friend. We are still in touch 8yrs later
That's amazing, experiences like that can have that effect on you can't they
Seeing Janine’s face light up when Liam said “we have chocolate” was priceless. Another wicked video guys, absolutely loved it 😊✌🏻🌱
Haha thanks mate! That girl could be drowning and smile if giving chocolate 😂
@@ThoseHappyDays 😂😂
Fabbbbbbbbb video. Wow grt climb and loved food choices. Well done you two.
Iv done Ben Nevis for charity with a group of people I never met before. It was an amazing full weekend in Scotland and an amazing hike which took 6 hours going up luckily with amazing views once at the top and 4 hours down. Never to be forgotten. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Wow well done you! It's an amazing feat to endure and we know exactly what you went through 🙌
Well done for climbing Ben Nevis, its hard! That receptionist though 🤦🏻♀️ restaurant didn’t even look that busy 🤣
December 24 2022: Almost 2 hours! Great going Janine. It is truly a challenging one but you did it. Way to go..
That receptionist seemed a bit rude.glad you got in and had some nice vegab food
She was really rude! Couldn't believe it
@@ThoseHappyDays Rosa Klebb ?
Absolutely... Maybe the management should look at this video.. What was she like.. What you are told and what is real that you got in there? They would definitely improve with users input and staff training. 🤷🏽♀️
Love that you have came back down the west highlands after the NC500. I hope you enjoyed driving through Glencoe, it’s my favourite road in the world.
It's just ridiculously stunning isn't it, can't believe it 😍
Well done Janine. Xxx. And Liam, glad you get an empty table in the end. X
Haha thank god eh
I.m amazed that climb was so cool
Well done Janine 👏🏼
Thanks for sharing a bit more of your van life. Really enjoy your videos!
Janine thanks to you I feel much less alone with my natural fear of cold😅 I always say that I'm in the "Russian tundra" whenever it's cold, windy and snowy so I laughed when you said "I feel I'm in the depths of the Himalayas😂"... You both did amazing honestly, that was some serious hiking! Glad you had a good dinner in the end, even though you had to conquer it like you did the summit😅
✌️🙈
Enjoyed your perilous hike .Well done both of you
Thanks for sharing your adventures x
Put ur tomatoes in between somevof ur fillings where it doesnt touch the bread so then the bread doesnt go soggy👌💖
Love the clachaig been there many times. Pity the receptionist wasn't very helpful. It is a great place just go to the pub round the back not the hotel part
"Highland" hospitality haha !!!
Wow... What an atchivment... Well done both of you!! I am loving following you both on your adventures and trips...
That's so good to hear, as we have loads more to come ❤
Fabulous video. Great achievement both
Thank you so much. It was hard but we made it 😊💙
Wow, looks amazing. I love climbing mountains and hills any chance I get. Thanks for bringing us along with you and showing the vegan eats.
That's a pleasure ❤
Love this. Ben Nevis is tough and so many people underestimate it. Well done for pushing through!
Thanks for all the food recommendations in your vids. I have allergies which mean I mostly eat vegan and you have helped me feel comfortable to hit the NC500 with all your vegan successes!
Well done guys thanks for great video 🙂❤️👍🏴
No worries, thank you for watching 💕
Well done, for making it to the top.
Oh my gosh I have just watched this video,
You two are both such stars for climbing Ben Nevis I don’t know how you did it. My partner and i drove to Ben Nevis from Glastonbury 8 years ago for our first holiday together.I loved Scotland and want to go again some day.Thank goodness you had chocolate you are a hero Liam. Xx
Map and compass and Bivvy bags would have been a useful addition to the kit list.. you were quite lucky it seems..
Living the best life guys, thanks for your videos. I’m heading to Durness in the morning from Ayrshire with the daughter and canoes all ready , let’s go !!!
Ah wow, you will have the best time (slightly envious haha) ❤
Great vlog, well done for your amazing hike to the top 👍 the burger and chips looked really 😋 x
Well done for climbing Ben Nevis, that looked hard work! I'm glad you got your food at in the end... :) It was worth investigating!
Shout out for Jeanne!
That haggis and oatcakes....oh my god, looked soooooo good. Well done to you both for climbing Ben Nevis😊
The receptionist sounded like Rosa Klebb.
🤣🤣
BRILLIANT vlog. Omg I have noooo idea how u managed to do the climb and also vlog and also give all that info about the delicious vegan food. It's absolute genius. Another INCREDIBLE vlog.
Oh Janine I'm with u on the back ache and sore knees awwwwww. Iv lived in Gokarna for a while now and the terrain is challenging and now I feel as tho I walk like and old lady hahahahaha 😁 you peeps have a massive spirit of adventure and brilliant talent ❤️
Thank you Kas, the zero visibility was a challenge and the slippy ice haha 😄 You are still living the dream over.there ✌
Well done 👏 I know how hard Ben Nevis, I completed it on my 3rd attempt due to weather and it’s tough. It hard to eat after strenuous exercise. Can’t wait to see more of your amazing adventures. I love how honest yet also positive you both are 😀
Honesty and positivity prevails ✌ Thank you for watching 💕
Ah, I absolutely loved this, I would love to be able to do that hike one day, well done to both of you for managing to get there and back!. The receptionist wasn't very friendly, was she! My Dad works as a bridge technician working on roads and travels up to Scotland a lot and stays in a lot of different hotels, as a result. He said a lot of Scottish people that he encounters really don't like the English and are really hostile towards them, maybe this was just another instance of this. Pleased you didn't give up and managed to get food, even if it didn't turn out that great.
Yeah she wasn't very nice to us...but I spoke with the staff in the bar and apparently she is pretty harsh to everyone 😕 Not the best person to greet people at the door 🤣
Nah, I think that is crap. I know a lot of English people who look down on the Scots, so it's not a one-way street.
Donna, You could say that but I thinks it’s more to do with Scottish customer service which is really bad, it’s non existent., you’re looked upon as an inconvenience. I’m Scots and I’m hacked off with the surly service in shops, hotels, cafes etc.
Whether it's a case of the Scots dislike the English or the English dislike the Scots, the receptionist is in the wrong job! She must cost the place a hell of a lot of money turning customers away....
Great effort. Without sounding like a moaning teacher Ben Nevis is a serious mountain and as you experienced when you went up holds snow and ice well into the months you'd expect it to be clear.
Carrying the correct gear (axe and crampons/micro spikes) plus a map and compass and knowing how to use them and the correct bearings to navigate off the summit in bad weather as a mistake could have you either walking too close to the North Face with large cornices or heading straight down 5 Finger Gully which has been the cause of many accidents and deaths.
The bearings are on the proper map to take you down the path from the trig point. Last time my friend and I came off Tower Ridge in gorgeous, clear conditions to be met with 20ft visibility 30 mins later with one 3 peaker about to walk straight off Gardyloo gully! People think that because its in the UK its an easy mountain when it's totally different from Snowdon and Scafell Pike.
Stay safe out there. 🙏
Thank you! We also had fun doing kinder scout recently that also threw in some challenges
@@ThoseHappyDays I bet. Up to your ankles in s#@t 😂 Tyfan in North Wales a great day out and if you get there at night park up not too far away.
Also if you want a nice days walking check out Chrome and Parkhouse Hill ( The dragons back) near Hollingsclough in the peaks. There's Dowell hall farm at the bottom that allows you to put the van on depending what time of the year you are there £8 a night. Great location to explore and doesn't get too busy. Like your channel guys. 👍
Totally 👍 I did a midnight trek for charity we had head torches but we also had to have safety gear and had Marshall’s at all the totally hairy points as you don’t get much light span in the pitch dark with a head torch. It was minus 5 at the summit (July) but we had all the layer kit to put on - loved it! Glad I got to see some scenery on the way down as the sun came up
well done, great achievement . enjoyed the vid !
Thank you so much, so pleased you enjoyed 😊💙
Excellent video guys 👌👌 I can see Ben Nevis from my house keep up the good work 👏👏 the west cost drive from fort William to mallaig you see the famous Harry Potter viaduct in glenfinnan on route and some breathtaking beaches in morar also. Thanks for sharing your cracking videos ❤️🏴

Well done 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻so strange seeing all that snow when it’s been so hot today😊
Crazy snow!! So thick
Amazing!!! 👏🏻 well done guys!!
Thank you ❤
You smashed it 🥳🥳🥳 Well done xxx
Thank you ❤
Good for you to get food the receptionist caused confusion, the Clachan Inn is pronounced Cl aaa ch an Inn
Enjoying the vlogs thanks
Ah damn, we will never get the pronunciations right 🤣
That’s amazing you made it to the top !!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩 yummy vegan food too 👍🏻💚🌱💚
Thank you Sandra 🍎
Someone was trying to tell Liam something when the tap went on while he tried to make the sandwiches ( maybe the tomatoes were getting their revenge because they were offended that you didn't buy them). Great hike up Ben Nevis.
Haha you could be right about the tomatoes, and you could definitely be right about the people up Ben Nevis (they probably saw the snow report that we didn't see haha)
@@ThoseHappyDays The pubs name is probably from Gaelic rather than Scots.
Oh guys I haven't watched your videos in order so I didn't know you had done Ben Nevis and I'd told you we had done it years ago it killed our knees too, and Gwen's back., Gwen found it easier so run up and stop.run and stop. brought back memoriesit.we didn't know anything about it and didn't take any food or drinks.we drunk the fresh water in the rocks. When we got to the top was just the same snow and Gwen got scared 😂 A Canadian man who said just sit down and slide on the snow that was better. Like watching you guys really enjoying your films and music goes great good luck Howard & Gwen
Thanks guys, nice to meet you 😊
That looked so hard well done.you really deseved them treats.
Thank you! Going to miss vegan Haggis
Oh wow! Great achievement.😎
Did that guy say he did that climb at 2 in the morning?!
Yes, 2am! Butter
I mean, nutter haha
Butter was better haha,
Yeah I set of at 2am in beautiful moonlight (full moon) was at the summit completely alone by 6am, exhilarating experience, (sometimes a bit of solitude is good for the soul)
Back in the B&B for a hot bath and coffee by 9.30am then a 5 hour drive back to Newcastle, was an amazing little adventure and I'm doing it again next year 👍🏔️
@@andywait9491 Oh wow. Cool. I'm not sure I could do that climb in daylight. Lol.
Crikey, I’m surprised they get any business at all with that receptionist…….could she have been anymore negative 🙄
Glad we pursued ✌
Liam and Janine were so patient with that receptionist. She obvs couldn't do her job.
You got Mozzer's cashew milk?!? I can never bloody find it in stock!
Yeah, it's good isn't it?
Weres the drone not see you show or talk about the drone
We didn't have a drone for this part of the trip
Ok I am loveing your videos keep up the good work. what drone yous got if you don’t mind me asking
It was a massive volcano
Was it? 😲
Sandwichgate 🤣😂
What a joke that pub was......I'll never visit there.
I like your channel but vegan everything not so good. I've got nothing against vegans.infact I like some of the food .
This was a Vegan centric episode, but also mountain and travel centric haha
