14:33 I belive that "bug" is caused by rubidium which ships with the pack. More specifically a setting in rubidium that is by default on causes that. You need to have Rubidium extras installed (which by the way is good always have when playing with rubidium) which for some reason doesn't ship with the pack. The setting you're looking for is "animate only visible textures" under "performance" category in video settings. The prismatic tools do indeed look pretty shit without this done xD
In 1.16 it was a real struggle, especially if your altar recipes asked for the impossible right off the bat and your world seed was..... Let's say "against you" haha. The vaults were insane with the amount of mobs that essentially just swarmed you. In 1.18 I feel like I can actually breathe and take in the vaults. Thank goodness for the POI system and all of 1.18 in general.
I still get swarmed constantly, because some of the spawner ranges are insane, the dwellers are absolutely broken with their sprinting and crit punches, and in particular if you're not aware of the Horde swarmers hidden behind thin passages it's just even worse. Sure, not having random spawns is nice, but it hasn't really changed the core problem for me when approaching new rooms. (And doesn't at all fix getting creeper bombed without warning)
@@Jokie155 I honestly had the same feeling, but I invested into tier 2 of Javelin and sincerely, it has saved me. Lol. So helpful for breaking up the bigger groups (not using specialization though, but I am considering swapping to piercing). It helps so much when you have faster mobs running up at you and you can yeet them so far away with that insane knockback. Saved me more times than I can count in a vault.
For the questions re: loot, idk which patch it was, but I just downloaded VH3 over the weekend (was still playing 1.16 before) and was shocked when, yep, I died and kept all my loot! Vault level 7 now and it's happened at least four times. It's amazing, especially as one of those meant I kept a bunch of beni to help get my first (still only) knowledge star.
I come to Hell for good VH content and I am never disappointed; as someone who can't seem to get the motivation past the initial grind and thus find it hard to play myself, you and Iskall are basically my only source of VH enjoyment so keep it up!
I liked the better co-op experience, shared research and no random mob spawns outside of the spawners reach, also bounty and quests are good too. But I don't agree with the part of making vaults more easier and less punishing is a better thing. It's just easier. If it's less punishing, you start to not care dying, which decreases the thrill. Me and my friend played 1.16 about to level 50 something and we have never died or lost any vault by time because if we couldn't finish by 10 minutes mark, we wouldn't push anymore with more search and loot, and we would just go back. So it would give us less time for looting and play safe. If it was locked, then we would just focus on finishing it instead of looting. But if we can bring back everything we have looted just by paying per level, we might just choose to push and loot everybit until the timer runs especially if it's a lucky gilded etc. vault.
Looking at the title, I though "nah it's not THAT good", but all the points you make are very true. 1.18 made the life outside the vaults much easier to get into, and with vault themes vault are very cohesive too. But I kinda miss the good old chaotic vaults of 1.16, every vault seems more unique (does that even make sense?). Life in vaults was more fun for me back then, but the QoL upgrades make 1.18 the better pack overall
You are really good at explaining thinks and these are good videos. I think material groups in vault altar changes when you level. Atleast i have feeling that logs are not in the same group anymore when you are lvl 40-50 but have to check that when i get logs in vault altar next time. 🤔
I was actually going to gripe about Scav items not stacking between vaults, but knowing I can turn them into Soul Shards may actually be a better usage for them overall. Though I imagine I'll still keep a gremlin bag full of the darn things just so I can pop in, drop to my knees and cry into me hands over ANOTHER Scav Vault, and then just shove all my pre-collected nonsense in and go about me business.
@@Hellfirem4ge I keep asking myself.. do I *need* an entire backpack full of junk? And the answer is yes. It is mine, and it is my precious. Especially all those damnable epic and legendary tier ones, that you can never find when you want.
I think 1.18 will be a massive improvement to 1.16 in the long run. I am waiting for the game to receive a few more updates though before I really start to grind it out. It seems very "unpolished" in the current state, (probably because ALPHA, lol).
You do keep the loot from beginner's grace! Since the latest update, snapshot modifiers will give a durability penalty instead of taking away all of your loot, just like Hellfire said in the video
Anyone know how to fix hitching/stuttering from frame drops that happens to me about every 30 seconds or so I’ve allocated enough memory and even tried way higher than it needs and lowered all settings still happens. With unlimited frames the problems only hitches for a milli second and I manage to get around 450-500 frames. I hope someone here can help because I really want to enjoy the new vault hunters but currently I can’t.
Sounds like you've allocated too much memory and you're having issues with java memory dump. I would recommend reducing your allocated memory down to 6-8GB
@@Hellfirem4ge thanks for the reply, I’ve tried from 6-11 and in the lower end the stutters are a few seconds with the sweet spot being 9gb which takes those down to milliseconds but still unplayable because how often it happens. Going to try rubidium extra from another comment on this video when I’m back to see if that helps.
@@dutton2666 yeah it's a very fine art and tbh, we all get some stutters but yours seem a lot more frequent so trying that stuff may help ☺️ also make sure your drivers are up to date. That's caught me out a few times
@@Hellfirem4ge I don’t know if it’s the Java update I did or the allocation of 8gb memory or the new update 8 of vault hunters but I can finally play it with no stutters/hitching every 10 seconds and I’m loving it.
I'd say the only thing i don't really like from 1.18 is the massive nerf of Twerking/Farmer and especially the more repetitive look of the Vaults. But the latter can be fixed by having a rare chance of a Vault having a theme of the old 1.16 one (like using the palette from all non-Omega and Challenge Rooms from tthe 1.16 in one Vault)
I still think the death penalty is way too harsh. My first death after 20 wiped out 2/3rds of my total vault bronze, and now if I die again, I won't be able to afford it because it's even more expensive. I really think lower levels should have cost reduced to silver costs.
The intent with the feature was that you should not be able to buy back every time you die. Most of the you'll still be losing everything but occasionally you can buy back when you're rich enough
0:54 the villager is asking the other villager like, why is he twerking to a portal?
They can't handle the twerk! 😅
Just wanted to let you know great video as always Hell, I can't wait for update 8 and the day you reach 10k subscribers (which I am sure is soon)
I hope so! Going to be a huge celebration 🎉
