You deserve a Major Award for thinking of the wooden insert. I have looked at MANY diy casserole cover patterns, but yours is the ONLY one that includes the wooden piece. It's brilliant! Thank you for sharing this!
Thank you for this tutorial! I was looking for a pattern and I think yours is the best one I've found, it an easy pattern and you explain it so well, thank you again! I'm going to look and see if you have any other projects.
Aaaawwwhhh...thank you sooo much for the very nice comment. I try to think of how I would like to view videos when I'm making one because I like to get to the point. It's nice to know that my technique is working!
thank you for the gift ideal and just to say I did it a little different, I sewed all the way around and then turned it inside right for that quilt look and no bias tape look. again great ideal, thank you
I bought one of these year ago....and have looked for a good pattern--this is perfect!!! You do a great job of explaining the process. This is the best casserole carrier around since it is nice looking, sturdy and holds the large pan. Thank you!!!!!
I love this! And i love the wood insert. It will also protect the dish from breaking. I like how you repurpose the batting. I do that, too! Great project and great instructions. Thanks for sharing.
I am so glad I found your tutorial! Great instructions and a great creation. I love the way this carrier holds the casserole dish securely without the dowels coming out. I used a plastic or whatever it is made of cutting board instead of wood for the insert. Its the perfect size and it can be used once you get to where you are going! You can buy these anywhere. I also used Insul Brite along with the batting. Anyway, thank you for the lovely idea. I'm making one tonight since my daughter expressed she wants a casserole carrier for her birthday.
Cool! Glad my video was helpful and thanks for all the tips you gave in your comment. I'm sure your daughter is going to love her carrier...let me know what she thinks of it.
Hi Niler! Actually the one I made I gave to my sister since her birthday came first and she had also expressed that she wanted this particular designed carrier. I made it for her and she loves it. She liked the cutting board in it also as well as the Insul Brite. I hope you can use my ideas and I am glad you liked my tips. Thank you again for this great tutorial. I will look for more of your tutorials.
Beautiful, high-quality work! You make it look so easy! Sewing has never been skill of mine, but you have made me want to try. Your teaching ability is as good as your craft. Everything you demonstrate is clear and concise. Very Impressive.
Thank you so much for the nice comment. I try to make my videos easy to understand. Glad to know it's working. I'm also happy that my videos have inspired you to want to sew!
Niler, Thank you for such a great video. You are a wonderful teacher. Clear and to the point. I am going to be making a lot of these as Christmas gifts for all the ladies at my church. They will love it!
The plywood in it is a great idea. I've made a few casserole carriers for my hope chest, just from measuring my casserole dishes and making a carrier. I never would have thought about using plywood to keep the heat in. I use Insul-bright batting in mine to keep the casserole warm and Velcro to hold the carrier closed. I haven't ever checked to see if the bottom is hot on the outside; I will have to now. Thanks for the great video :)
Thank you so much. My mom has had one of these for years and wanted another. I have been searching for a pattern so I could replicate it. Great video, Thanks again!
I love your tutorial! Very concise with clear instructions. I have one of these carriers that I use all the time and wanted to make some for Christmas but didn't take the time to measure. So thank you for this. I will be looking for more of your UA-cams.
You are welcome...A customer brought hers in for me to duplicate it. I had never seen them before, but I thought they were great. I made a visual copy of it and I have been making them for my friends. Glad you found my video...thanks for watching.
I love this tutorial. Your explanation was very easy to follow. I am looking for a casserole caddy pattern and this pattern is perfect. I’ve never seen a pattern that uses a stabilizing piece of wood but that makes so much sense. I make something handmade for my kids every Christmas and this year I chose casserole carriers. My granddaughter wants to learn to sew and I think this is just enough of a challenge for her. She has sewn placemats and pajama pants so she has at least some undestanding of how to sew. I have some heavy webbing I’ll use for the ties. I like to recycle jeans fabric and I’m thinking this would look so cute and be very durable if I used denim. Thank you so much for putting this tutorial together and sharing it with us.
Thanks Andrea for your comment. According to what you mentioned that your grandma can do...she CAN sew! Kudos to her. I'm glad my video was helpful for you and her...Happy Sewing!
Just an FYI and something you might want to try. I was at a sewing and quilting expo this weekend and one of the exhibitors had this pattern. In place of the dowels, she was using two long handled wooden spoons, each facing a different direction. Just pull them out and you can also serve your dish... Pretty cool, huh?
Thank you Susan. I am a visual learner also. It is what prompted me to do a youtube channel because I love watching people do things. Let me know if you have a request and I will try my best to get it done for you...Happy Sewing!
Thanks Tina, I will. I have made this gift for several of my friends and they all fell in love with it and they use it a lot! I hope you try it! Happy Sewing!
Thank you for a wonderful tutorial....was done very well! Can't wait till this weekend to buy supplies...Already know what my friends will be receiving for their Christmas gifts this year!!! I will be styling at our Church pot-lucks...can't wait to start!!!!
Wow simple easy to follow instructions and thank you so much for the easy to follow measurements.. great job i have suscribed for more .. cheers and thank you once again...
You are an Excellent teacher! Heck, even I as a beginner feel as though this carrier can be made in an afternoon! Keep posting how to videos! I'll subscribe to your channel. lol
I saw this video a year ago and thought it a great idea. After searching all sites for ideas, this is the best. You are so cleaver, thrifty and talented. Thanks for sharing and explaining the process so clearly. thumbs up and subscribed!
+Carol Oliva , I use Wooden Spoons as my handles. 1 one way & one the other. as I leave the "outside" hole in the handle material open on opposite sides. They work out great!
Great video tutorial. Been wanting to make one of these. I really enjoyed watching. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with a beginner like me. God Bless.
Aloha to you as well. Hawaii is on my list of places to visit....such a beautiful Island. One day I will make it. Thank you so much for watching and for the nice comment!
This was a perfectly explained video and thank you so much. I've seen a lot of carriers but this one is premium! I made three for my girlfriends for Christmas this year. Wish I could add a photo, they turned out so beautifully.
Aaahhh...kudos to you Wendy! I'm sure your friends loved their special personalized gift from you. I'm so glad that my video was helpful for you....Happy Sewing!
Aaawwwyyy Rosy, thanks for the very nice comment. I try to make my videos in a "user friendly" way, glad to know it's working. Thank you so much for watching and for your nice comment.
This is awesome, AS USUAL. Have you thought about, making a make-up tote, from a placement. I have been hearing about them, but haven't a clue on how to make those corners. If you get the time, that is. That would be a good one. Hint, hint, i want to make one.. LOL. and if anyone, can show me how. You already know.. Yep, it's you Niler. Much success and respect.
Thanks Incognito. I can always count on you to watch and comment on my videos. As a matter of fact, the next video that is inline for upload is the travel tote for toiletries from a hand towel. It can also be converted to a make up tote. I'll have to "incorporate" that request in this upload...keep watching (I know you will...lol) and don't forget to share! Happy Sewing!
love the way you teach im wanting a long easy to sew cape like women wore in the 1800s ...i cant seem to find a vid that is easy to follow ,but you are so clear in your teaching ...my question is have you already made one or would you make one ???i would love a hood but not necessary
I have not made one, but I did add your request to my video list. I must say I will have to do my homework and research what they looked like. If I can see it...I can make it. Thanks for your request...happy sewing!
You are welcome...they do make great gifts. Whenever I show up to someone's home with my cubby, everyone loves it and want to know where it came from. Makes you the talk of the party! Thanks for your comment and for watching. Niler
