  • Kalevi Kiviniemi (30.6.1958-3.4.2024) plays "Crucifixion", part three from Symphonie-Passion by Marcel Dupré at the Cavaillé-Coll-Organ in Saint-Ouen, Rouen, France. This was recorded in 2008, and was edited for this video from the original recording session material by Mika Koivusalo, in April 2024. Pictures used on video were all taken in the recording session in October 2008.
Four-movement Symphonie-Passion originated from a series of improvisations which Marcel Dupré played on the famous Wanamaker organ, in the John Wanamaker department store in Philadelphia (now Macy's), during his tour in USA, in the year 1921. When having a train journey to the next concert venue, Dupré sketched out themes and ideas of these improvisations, and worked them out three years later into a monumental "Symphonie-Passion".
