Tree Snake? Snakey Tree?

  • Battery on the other camera died so I don't have another view of the barberchair, but it was back weighted, so I had a rope in it and pulled it over with a rope redirected to the avant.
Had a rope in the snake tree to compensate for the significant side lean that you can't at all see in the video. Didn't want it going into those other trees to the right.

That’s the thing about Ash. It is prone to barber chair. I’d have made a larger notch because it’s an Ash. Hey,that’s the first critique I’ve given after watching your vids for a long time now. I don’t miss any of your vids.
Thanks for telling us what species of tree!

If your chain saw is producing wood chips the cutting blade is sharp. If all you see is saw dust the blade is dull.
I was wondering why they were cutting down all those trees... maybe because of fire danger or possible storm damage.

As you happily use paper and lumber products every day. When you see a farmer baling hay do you think "Five months growth gone in 30 seconds"?

I’m not a pro at it, but it’s n the video it seemed obvious that the barber chair was about to happen. I had abated all the cuts and was impressed. Then came the barber chair. What are they thinking? That hinge is too thick for an Ash! You better get back! Pop!!! Shit happens, glad you everyone is safe. Good video and tree felling skills. ( I know videos do not give the viewer a full representation of the circumstances. You may have had a valid reason for a thicker hinge)

Emily Dill The area where these trees were cut is very dense with trees on top of each other. The diseased trees are removed. Normally with hardwood trees that large, they are milled for lumber. The smaller pieces for firewood, the bark and limbs shredded for mulch. Everything is utilized. The remaining trees now have the space that they need to take off and grow. My property is harvested about every 15 years and returns better than it was quickly. There is a science to it.
