..this gets a thumbs up before even watch...I LOVE Emily Remler-r.i.p...matter of fact, think I'll just start thumbs up ALL your vids...cause they being great and I like what you about..👍👍
I want to thank you for introducing me to Emily Remler! Since I saw your video weeks ago I've been listening to a lot of Emily. It's both a thrill to discover her music and incredible talent but also heartbreaking to think there could have been so much more. Thanks for the lessons and musical education.
Just a suggestion....next to your Rockabilly and Jump Blues DVD's (which are great by the way) how about a Jazz tutorial...we will all be Stompin' at the Savoy........Cheers
She was also a brilliant and caring jazz guitar/music educator. I had the crazy good fortune to study with Emily in nyc in 86 or 87. Before she went to CA where I’m guessing she might have recorded east to Wes. Anyway, on many occasions, when we’d just jam a bit on the blues, I saw her play lots of stuff like blues for herb. Just winging’ it. Groovin. From 2-3’ away in her living room. She was so f**king good! She could really swing. Sadly, she was frequently busy with gigs and personal stuff so a lot of lessons got cancelled and I only got to study with her for about 6 months before she went to the west coast. Still, her effect on me was profound. Some of my most cherished memories. I remember reading about her passing and not being able to process it.
I studied with her when she was here in LA in the pit orchestra for Sophisticated Ladies. I'd been studying with Jimmy Wyble and he told me that a great female guitarist was coming to town and I needed to study with her so he set it up. There were very few female guitarists back then (early 80s) so it was really great to work with someone who was doing what I wanted to do.
Thanks for bringing attention to Emily Remler. She's an important influence to me. I have enjoyed your videos for years. There are two great instructional DVD's she made for those who are interested.
Mr Bacci you is cooking...you is cooking man, and that is a cool Guitar and that T.Shirt is just as cool and that Emily woman god bless her soul was even cooler ..stay blessed my friend Love and Respect from across the pond. Azam/Hunted
hi, great lesson.can you do john mclaughlin-unknown dissodant,or "new york new york"? and young people please don't do hard drugs like smack and coke because u will end up like remler . god bless her,.RIP.she was such a great talent.
Ahh the great John McLaughlin, the pioneer of Jazz Fusion. Such a great player. :) If only Emily was still with us. Just imagine what she would be playing for us right now. R.I.P Emily Remler
Its always fun to watch your videos. For me especially the Jazz stuff that youre bringing up. This one comes right after your Barney Kessel tutorial in my ranking. A big Thanks with capital T and lots of love from Germany!
Cool lesson Damian. I will be checking out Emily, thanks for the introduction. another cool shirt this week! by the way I actually saw Metallica on the master of puppets tour, I was so lucky to see that, it was at a smaller venue, they hadn’t gotten huge yet. 🤘
Damian, thankyou! I was feeling a bit discouraged with my current progress in the acoustic bluegrass vain. So I clicked your video, followed along and learned this lesson. It was a shot in the arm! I went back to the other bluegrass song I was trying to learn and it flowed so much better. Nothing like shifting gears to get around guitar road blocks. The success I had with your lesson was transferred to success in bluegrass. I still have work to do on both lessons. But I'm back to having fun!
Struggle with it! I think it might push me over the edge but I got to learn this one. Sounds amazing. Your tone is nearly as beautiful as your personality. Really appreciating your lessons.
Love Emily. Fantastic video - great teaching. Thank you. And what a great tone from that Dot! Which model have you got? And can I ask you about your amp/settings? Thanks man!
Glad you enjoyed the lesson. I bought my Epiphone Dot 9 years. It was a great purchase. This lesson is a few years old and I can't remember what amp I was playing through but I definitely played through a tube amp with some reverb and I didn't use any pedals. Thanks for watching. :)
Great lesson, Damian. Love that tune. Big fan of Herb Ellis as well as Emily Remler. Funny but that turnaround sounds a bit more like Barney Kessel than Herb! ;o) (I know you did a lesson on Barney's version of "Basie's Blues.") I love your rockabilly stuff but jazz blues may be a bit closer to my heart.
@@Damianblf Can't wait! I wonder who you'll cover: Charlie Christian, Kenny Burrell, Grant Green... By the way, do you have any instruction on picking? Your approach seems flexible. I'm 62 and STILL fiddling around with my pick grip! It's maddening.
@@MarkRhodesSongs Definitely lessons from those 3 and also Kenny Burrell & Herb Ellis. Sorry at the moment I do not have any lessons on picking. Keep on rockin' DAMIAN :)
@@Damianblf I'll be first in line. I have your other courses and can't recommend them highly enough. They are hard enough that some are a challenge, but easy enough to be attainable. They are also easy to slice and dice and add to your solos.

"Blues For Herb"... I wasn't sure at first if this was going to be an Emily Remler lesson or if you were trying to work up some sort of trade.

very grateful master, congratulations!!!! "BRASIL-CORE!"

Probably a stupid question, but why are these licks called heads?
..cause they appear at the beginning-or head of a chorus..
@@joycesanders4898 Ah. That makes perfect sense. Thank you.
Actually the term comes from Count Basie, who insisted in Kansas City that his musicians memorize his riff tunes and not rely on sheet music.

Emily gave me guitar lessons in New Orleans right after she’d been discovered by Herb Ellis. She taught me Stones and Zeppelin tunes! 🤓🎸
