I normally don't message to videos, but this is an absolute life-saver. I was trying for the entire day to figure out why I wasn't seeing the hard drive and you gave me a direct and effective solution. I thank you.
LOL dude, ive been in IT for around 25 years and NEVER had to do this, Got an HP Omen and swopped out drives for 1TB as main and 2TB as secondary, THANKS!
Just awesome guys. I worked in IT helpdesk, but we were a Dell shop. I retired in Aug 2022 and we had not rolled Win11 yet... The big DING DING was Windows 11 needs to have Security settings turned. I inadvertently I turned off all the security in BIOS....then the big OOOPS, BitLocker screen came up, I knew I was dead in the water. Big lesson learned with Win11. I am also a mac guy since 2017...Love both. Downloaded the rapid storage drivers and that did it. I bought laptop month ago, so not much on the laptop. So phew. You guys were a lifesaver
So 4 hours with HP couldn't fix what 30mins of your video could. You just got a new subscriber and will be recommending your channel to everyone. Thanks a Million!!!
Hey man, I don't know your name but I seriously wanted to thank you for this video. I have searched across the internet for days trying to get a new SSD working since I need my laptop for work. Your video was the only one that worked and your explanation was clear and concise. Seriously, thank you.
Finally solved the problem after searching for almost two days without sleep. I don't have enough words to express my sincere appreciation for this video. THANK YOU SO MUCH
Sir, you are an angel. I had been messing with this laptop for over 4 hours doing exactly what you were but you clarified about extracting the file in the USB and that made it finally work. I can't thank you enough!!!
Same thing here. W/o the information regarding the extraction of the file and selecting the F6 folder, I think I would be trying to install windows on my new laptop for a very long time. 😁 Thanks @lapfix, you sir are a time and sanity saver.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS IN DEPTH EXPLANATION AND VIDEO! I seriously cannot tell you how much I appreciate your help! I spent 6 hours yesterday trying to solve this issue until I came across your channel. I could finally reformat my laptop because I forgot my password and got locked into bitlocker settings. This was a huge help!!
This is super super helpful. It marked the end of more than a week efforts of trying to use the computer I was gifted by a brother. For those days, I was like a monkey holding a sealed banana in a transparent container. Other vidoes I watched did not show how the downloaded driver is extracted to the USB Flash Drive. I thought the file was going to be a zip file when I heard the word "extract" used. So, I kept copying the file direclty into the USB Flash Drive. Thanks a lot for this joy bringing video.
"For those days, I was like a monkey holding a sealed banana in a transparent container." LOL this made me laugh, I love this! Glad I could help brother
Hello. I agree that your video is very clear and helpful. But I have a problem . My HP computer is a laptop 15-db0xxx with AMD A6 9225 RV Radeon R4. When I go to the appropriate driver download page ( at HP Support), and input my serial #,and go to the storage drivers, it does NOT show the Intel RAID drivers you described. Instead , it only gives me 6 different Alcor Micro Card Reader Drivers. (?) Can you please help me out ! Thank you. Darwin
I had been having the issue of not finding the "Intel Rapid Storage Technology" driver listed under "Driver-Storage", but instead by using the "Intel Rapid Start Technology" driver listed under "Driver-Chipset". I had three version listed and went with the latest. Following the same steps I was able to run this to see all drives and continue with reinstallation. The only issue I'm still having is ~27GB of space showing up, but unable to be deleted/formatted/reused, which I believe to be the cause of Windows applications still crashing. Note: Driver location needed to be ran from drivername > F6 > VMD, then select the first option, "Intel RST VMD Controller 9A0B".
2 years later and it still works amazing. I don’t understand why they make pcs with compatibility issues. Been my third time doing this now. At this point I’m about to get a new mother board. Thank you so much for this fix!!!!
Out of all the things I thought it didn't let my secondary laptop see the disks I didn't expect it to be because of missing drivers. Thanks a lot for the video!!!
Thank you!! I have an HP Probook 650G8 and needed to change the SSD because the original optane SSD went bad. I could not get Windows to find the new SSD and started to think that the laptop may have had a bad controller. I never thought I would actually have to load the drivers for it. Followed your instructions and in 5 minutes I was loading Windows 11 on the new SSD. I like that you got straight to the point and gave detailed instructions on the choices that you would get so you know to pick the top controller in the list. The funny thing is I work in IT and struggled with this. I could not imagine how manufacturers expect regular users to figure this stuff out.
All the way from South Africa bro just want to thank you I spent 880$ for a gaming laptop within 6 months couldn't locate my ssd driver the whole week struggling tried many videos till I found you. Thank you very much. Nakhesa Hosi ya Mina❤

Hi Lapfix. Thank you so much for helping me. I couldn't explain how happy I am. You made my laptop ( hp envy x360 15m es0023dx- Just 1 yr old) alive. I was dead 6 months back during Windows 11 upgrading. I showed my laptop in Microcenter Columbus, I was informed that they can retrieve my data at a cost of $1500 Yes, $1500. On top of that, they said that they can't repair it and gave me back. Then I thought I lost my $1200 and bought an Acer laptop. Today, You gave another life to my computer.
Recently I have my hp pavilion laptop stuck on the blue screen and it kept restarting the loop pc auto repairing and on Advanced options blue screen. I tried many solutions from UA-cam but they didn’t work. I went to Advanced options-UEFI Firmware - and press f9 with external USB memory stick plug in to my laptop and following your UA-cam video for restore Drives on Pc finally I restore my windows and fix this continuing circle loop blue screen. Thanks very much.!!
Exactly what I needed, did not that I could extract the driver in the bootable device!! I was about to collapse as I wipe the diskpart and couldn't access the Windows UI Thanks!!
Super helpful tutorial, but I am running into a snag when trying to install the driver during the Windows installation process. After I select the F6 folder, it just "blips" and in the "Select the driver to install" section, it's simply blank. I am not presented with the two options that you are in this video. Def an HP laptop, def has the 11th gen intel processor, and when I inspect the contents of the flash drive after extracting the driver to the flash, I can see many contents within the F6 folder.... but alas, I cannot seem to install on the laptop when I try to Load Drivers. I sent an email seeking help too. Great video, btw - love the straightforward steps to fix. Should be easy, but I've tried umpteen times with various flash drives, to no avail.
Thanks a million! I was ready to take my new HP 11th Gen back to the store if I couldn't get Windows 10 on it. I couldn't believe they rigged the BIOS to prevent VMD shut-off! You saved the day. Got Win 10 on it and I am happy, happy, happy!

You might want to check the version of windows you have. There can be a driver for almost every major update. You can typically find this by right clicking the windows start menu icon - system and see which version you have. For example 21H1, 1903, etc. If you are not able to check then try the latest and working backwards or make a bootable to check
@@lapfix Thanks bro, your suggestion worked perfectly, i tried all different OS version drivers through process of elimination, eventually went through about 11 drivers and the one from win 10 - 1903 worked, even though my OS version is 20H2, but i am not complaining, at least it works and my drives are now detected, thanks again legend.
This viedo really helped me to solve the os installation problem. Our company had two hp laptops and needed to reinstall os, but OS disk not shown in the process of installation., same issue as the video mentioned. after watched this video finally fixed the problem. thank you, dude!
It worked, thank you. For linux users, you can extract the .exe file using a program called p7zip, then copy the 'Drivers' directory into the USB stick like in the video.
Thanks for the help. FYI the driver download page for my particular HP laptop did not have the driver in the storage section.... I found it under "chipset"
