one of the best prime minister thailand has ever had for sure. You have a great family background, a great educational background, an excellent grasp of many areas of knowledge and most importantly the moral standards.I'm so proud of you, Mr. former prime minister of Thailand.
Prime Minister Yingluck may be well democratically elected, but she and her administration also have to BEHAVE democratically. Undemocratic moves fueled the civil unrest. Just because the Prime Minister was democratically elected doesn't mean she and her administration should be allowed to commit crimes and then modify the laws to exonerate themselves (and the convicted and jail-sentenced fugitive former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra) of any wrongdoing. Also, when senior members of the ruling Puea Thai Party refused to accept a Constitutional Court ruling that rejected their proposal for a fully elected Senate, which would have boosted the party's electoral clout, the government completely acted above the law. Their actions only undermine the rule of law in Thailand
Right. Now you have both: an undemocratically elected government and undemocratic behavior. But hey, if I remember correctly, Bangkok streets were choked by whistle geniuses who demanded to have their rights taken away from them.
The government did the right things to declare of constitutional court set up by military coup d'Etat and that court had illegally rights to judge what it has no power to do. So,it means the constitution which acts as the enforced law was controlled by nine people in that court..
Can you clarify what is the government's intention on amending the constitutional law concerning changing of the senate structure? By deleting a certain number of rules. For example, the amended version would allow elected members to serve yet another consecutive terms, which is unheard of in the UK. And if it happens there, we would not have waited this long for the government to be dissolve? I think the government showed an unlawful intention; a court cannot be oblivious to a bad political conscience that is harmful to the constitution...
kentsiam Are you sure? The hundreds of BILLIONS of baht lost in the corrupt rice pledging scheme that caused huge losses to the economy certainly proves she's not the best prime minister. What about the fact that corruption in Thailand increased under Yingluck's administration as proven by Transparency International's report on corruption for 2013?? She may have the popular vote, but those people are ignorant as to what they are doing to the country by electing a puppet to an exiled criminal as prime minister. I don't even support the Democrat Party but they're still the lesser of two evils.
kentsiam Sure, corruption is a problem THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. There is no evidence at all that corruption was at its worst under the Democrat Party. I suggest you google 'Corruption Perception Index 2013'. Thailand corruption score declined significantly from 2012 to 2013 under Yingluck's administration. You're telling me to do research, but I'm telling you to do research as well. Any government that approves a scheme and cost a loss of over 200 billion baht to the economy is not suitable to lead a country. That is my opinion.
"Who can defuse this situation best is the prime minister." Realistically, who ovecome the prime minister's power is our strong mindset having a faith in our democratic stability. Belief in our admired institutes - country, religion, monarch. We all couldn't stand any riots anymore, do we?
He is a good one and his performance is always ready to develop the country because things what he did when he was the PM 's shown themselves benefit directly concretely to the Thai people. So, doing good things must take time but making bad things 're very easy and its result is as quickly as it gets as the worst. Well, Thai people in the North East are truly low education where the govt uses them to vote for, using money, putting wrong attitudes, violent physical action used to get what they want and etc. These are the govt makes to the Thai people. Eventually some of red shirts still believe in this cabinet which is ineffective entirely. Having knowledge, ability and moral principle will lead us to the rightness. .
He was in power when the Red shirts where killed . She was no more corrupt than the rest of the rich. Thailand needs an elected government elected by the people for the people rich and poor . Peace and fairness and openness freedom of speech
I never choose side, neither red or yellow shirt. But for Thailand and my king, I think Yingluck resignation is an appropriate action. If you OPEN your eyes, you would know that she is just Taksin's puppet. She has no knowledge to run the country, only a business woman who enter the game with an order of her brother. Her government does nothing to help all Thais, but aim only Taksin and his allies benefit. If my saying is untrue, then ask the mobs who do the protest. Why millons of them join forces to overthrown government? Ask yourselves. Why should you blindingly believe that this Shinanwatra family truely love the nation? Ask yourself. If this pack of bullshit is so good, why must they ignore the country priority and all the conflicts just to release the law that benefits Taksin especially? What about the conflicts in southern part of Thailand, poverty, education, morality, wellfare, and security of the people? Did they ever solve these problems at their best? Shouldn't every citizens deserve better quality of life? JUST ASK AND BE TRUE TO YOURSELF!
Just look at past events... How many times Yingluck properly attend official meeting in parliament? Why is the number so low? Moreover, how many times "she" defend the policy by herself in all meeting? Does she shy? doesn't have good speaking skills? or something more? PLEASE USE YOUR OWN JUDGEMENT
This man can respond to negative questions against his own opinion without expressing any emotion. That's only good point of his. The worst thing he, as Thailand prime minister, did in 2010 was the most terrible thing to his own people, who just demanded for dissolution.
I'm not his fan particularly. However, can't the interviewer see which of the interviewees (Abhisit and Yingluck) holds more integrity? Whose responses are more comprehensible and articulate? Who demonstrates more knowledge and originality in the answers? If everyone can open up their mind and be free from the vote-buying/bribing money, I think you'll agree with me that Abhisit is the winner of the two. I'm not saying that he should be the PM again. But I'm saying the current PM has no attributes to be the leader of Thailand. The only thing she has is her family and big brother who back her up. So why is this still democracy? The person who got elected had no previous political and social work but won the position as the leader of a country and you call that democracy? I think it is corruption.
Dan Rooney Yeah it's tough that not all politicians have millions of dollars to spend on vote-buying funds. Well... I'm not here to argue. For all I know, I used to live in a relatively peaceful country until the birth of the red-shirts. Thaksin indeed is very smart. But he doesn't use his intelligence morally. He found a loop hole in Thai democracy and exploited that. No need for me to repeat what many others have already realized and written. If you have any spare time, check it out. Cheers! ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-1065682
Dan Rooney Winning the election may only be the initial attribute that the person has the potential to lead the country. However, if it has been sometime and it is apparent that she is not good enough then to show her responsibility she should resign. It can also mean that integrity didn't hold for the election at the first place. It's like when a company is trying to hire a few people. The company will try to select the best candidates based on whatever initial information/knowledge available. However, once hired many of the candidates may turn out to be horrible, lazy, stupid and what not. Unfortunately this is also the case for Yingluck. Another example will be about exam taking. It can happen that someone scored really high on the SAT or the GRE or some entrance exam. But it could and it did happen that the person cheated to achieve the high score. So then it didn't prove at all that the person had the best knowledge. By the way, I haven't really read that article myself so I don't know if it's yellow-shirt driven or not. Although I believe this time there isn't any yellow shirt anymore. There are just Thai people and the persisting Thaksin and his clans. It's funny how Thaksin differentiates Thai in the city as the elite and those in the country as inferior. Then he sides with the inferior when he himself is obviously very elite. FYI #1, I once voted for Thaksin. Like you said those economic-forward policies and all sounded great. I commented that Abhisit possesses better attributes for leader. But it did not mean I will vote for him. It's just between him and Yingluck, he comes off better. FYI #2 "What is Thaksin system? 1. Dictator in Parliament 2. Politics business - use oodles of money to buy and subsume political mechanism and votes, to gather absolute power 3. lies to the people with popularist policies, looks like they are for the people but in actually the money goes to their pockets to do political business 4. created a new value that if you're good at working then a little bit of corruption is ok. 5. Thaksin owns his party, and party members are like his employees that do as he orders." Lastly, we don't have to get used to anything. We are happy if everyone is happy. If the villagers and farmers in the country have more money now and a better life that's great! But if someone is dividing us and taking away our peace and harmony for his own benefit, then that's not acceptable.
Where is the interview with the other former Thai PM for balance? Why is this guy with charges of crimes against humanity against him being interviewed without giving any indication that he has ~charges of crimes against humanity against him~?? What is the BBC's problem?
Valid points were many. But 1 of it is this: This govn amended the constitutional law with an unlawful intention. Imagine British tried to have the senate house full of its members who are husbands or wives of the representatives in the people house. All this with the court verdict being ruled "unconstitutional." BBC would not ask Abhisit if the movements were trying to overthorn the elected government. IT would ask why the PM has not resigned yet.
I want to say that......those who say Mr. Abhisit is bad, bullshit or else don't even know what Mr. Abhisit is saying......Cause they can't translate it. PS. They're also bad at grammar and English as I've seen from their comments. PS(2). I'm Thai and who understands me thumbs up.
yes red shirt are poor, Thaksin and Yingluck trisk them as a buffalo. In this times we fired her out about 5 million ppl in bkk for almost 2 month on one gets hurt since a fews red shirt come over and kill 5 ppl, is suck.
Dan Rooney do you truely understand Thailand and Thailand' s political system to be able to judge right or wrong on what happening ? Living in Thailand or even speaking Thai doesn't really means you truely understand us or our culture. Talking with a British guy who is living in Thailand and all over Asia for 35 years, he said ...he felt " ashame of BBC " for broadcasting this interview with the kind of questions and attitude and knowledge of the jounalist !
It's actually quite funny going through the comments here, I mean you can actually tell by the way each comment is written. What is the point of name calling and swearing?
Dan Rooney I do agreed with you for some certain level of your opinion. Especially the part about the standard democratic system with liberty of press and check and countercheck etc. But as you know very well that our system and the culture of Thai or the way our "Domocratic"Political system is, is uncomparable to what you may have experience in your origin country, we are still a long way from it. Plus the level of standard education of average Thai is still uncomparable to average of your people, some may not even know their right nor what is the value of democratic system, not that I look down on my own compatriot, but it's the truth. I don't give that much thought nor care of your one opinion if it is a comment from somewhere else, not on a direct basis of one who claimed living in the country and know well. As well, what I do care is ...all this comment in english is as well read by people who may not even know of or where Thailand is. So misinformation may be the word. What I don't like the most is, if all the judgement is base upon your own standard in diffenrent country or different culture. Thailand demo"crazy' is not the same as where you were. Each country have their own culture and their own way of solving their problem. Not that I say you don't have corruption in your country but it is never the same. You may carry on with your opinion but just have some respect and do evaluate well the diffenrents.
The best Thai PM for Thailand ever had...love you Abihisit, smart and honest. But some Thais are not smart say he is not good. If you look back in the pass and open your eyes, you will see how difference of all PMs of Thailand ever had.
When he was asked about his accountibility on his position, he always escapes with accusation of Thaksin or someone else false. Moreover, he is the best ever former Thai PM to answer difficult questions with questions to the one who interview him, as well as one of the best liar in the country.
According to The former pm Abhist had said, and in my point of view that Yingluck hasn't done any thing to protect Thai's benifit, she's focussing in her brother as well as company. So Yingluck and her party have to responsible.
When he was a prime minister in 2011 and the protest broke out, the way he reacted tot the protestors siad otherwise. I used to believe that he could be a good prime minister through his english speaking skill, his appering to the press and so forth. Now it appeared that all that have gone because of his personal belief and unlawful willing to win the seat back.
Why Mr.Suthep didn't reform the system when he was a politician. Don't say that he just know solutions now and wanna change it suddenly? The protesters in Bangkok are not a majority how come they say it is? How do they know? I don't believe in Mr. Suthep because he was a senior politician in Democrat party. Is it sincere? and who support him? of course Democrat party. The question is Who get benefits? I am Thai. I wish my country to be much more developed than now. I agree with the reform but not breaking the constitution or laws.
Doesn't he know at all what the protesters do? At this time he still protects them and says that whatever the protesters do and whatever the Democat does is democratic. He always needs force. He wants the gov to use violence. Good speech is how he lies.
This is so funny when Democrat Party led the protest and everyone say you shouldn’t do that cause you are democrat party. Three years back then the red shirt which belong to Taksin also did the same thing and now the leader of red shirts are ministers. Do you think it’s right for red shirt to do that? Do you think Thai people are not used to it? Protest and defuse Gov. Everything was started by red shirt and it was succeeded. That’s why we in the same situation as last 3 years. Seriously there is no way out for Thailand. No matter we have Taksin side or Abhisit side as prime minister, we will have protested forever. I think we have to jail both parties and cease them for politic involvement for 10 years.
hey sorry i am not thai but what i not understand is yingluck and her brother say they love thailand Abhisit has he's mistakes yes we all have what i not understand is that if they really love thailand they have too find peace for the thai people which i love very much if yingluck love the thaipeople then she have too do what she can do in order to get peace in thailand she have to say that she not want to be in the parlament anymore and if it means that abhisit will be pm then it have to be like that it can give peace too the thaipeople if she say too all the people that she and her brother whas giving money before last vote not too make any protest then thailand can have peace again they can have reform and maybe have a better future,i realy love thailand and the thaipeople and it is a big pity too see whats is going on in thailand now. if i can well i know that i can not but if it whas possible for me to ask yingluck and her brother about something then i want to ask them about this: where is all the sunarmi money that the western world send too thailand some people say that most of them fly down into yinglucks brothers pocket ø
He may be the best prime minsister for the minority but surely not for the majority of the Thai population. What is different between him and Yingluck is that YIngluck was democratically elected by most THais but Abhisit shamefully got chosen by the coup council. Well I talked to many many foreign academicians .. all understood what is happening in Thailand but they do not want yet to intervene publicly.. Let's see
More like a feud between Hirohito's family faction; the Japanese traditional authoritarian branch vs the European ones. Lee Clown Yew got booted out of Singapore probably because he opposed the expansion of Singapore into the Forest City, which pissed the Singaporean Technocrats who now have the balls to oppose him because they have the backing of China. In world War II this is almost one sided because the European Faction not only is more organized but is technological learned which equates to giving the Americans information on Japanese position and status particularly their warships while the backward traditional Japanese ones are busy decorating their samurai swords and drinking saki for troop bonding. Now that gap is even.
Just some comments here can prove that anti-thaksin always thought that the are only people who own this country. You always thought and blame poor people are stupid, no TVs , we're brought by Thaksin money. Red shirt just want to have the equal right as you in Bangkok.
Why don't you just wake up and see what he did with our country, not in your dream. Every Thai people loves our country, but just in different standpoints. I see all of you, from red and yellow, just listen only to your side. Your democracy is not gonna work if the politicians don't have any virtues.
Current government have corruptions, but Abhisit's corrupted far more than Yingluck did. At least Yingluck is a legimate PM stepped to power by election, money buying vote is bullshit, I voted for her by my own will, not for money and I believe that my fellow country mates in the northeast voted for this government by their own will too. Seriously, government haters, do you remember the election card before Paue Thai government? I remember that there is ridiculously large amount of wasted cards because of the wrong pick in the party logo square, I wonder why is that happened?
Better than the shit Yingluck and Thaksin.....They backstabbed their former part members who is now serving their sentences for the rice-scheme......They are probably living good lives overseas while many of their members are in prison with anger......Better watch out what might come back to huaunt them...Karma is real....
@@roverteam4914 I ask Thais all the time, is their life better now than it was 8 years ago? The resounding answer us no…unless you are part of the elite Bangkok Thai contingent, The current government doesn’t do anyone any good…I have faith in my man Thanathorn…Thailand will change someday for the better

Fluent in English is not ability to be prime minister.
Yes, she deserved especially compare with formal PM Abhisit , I never find sincereity from him.
kentsiam Are you sure? The hundreds of BILLIONS of baht lost in the corrupt rice pledging scheme that caused huge losses to the economy certainly proves she's not the best prime minister. yes red shirt are poor, Thaksin and Yingluck trisk them as a buffalo.
In this times we fired her out about 5 million ppl in bkk for almost 2 month on one gets hurt since a fews red shirt come over and kill 5 ppl, is suck.
good luck for you Abhisit, Little kids never grow.
Agreed.
every time he was asked awkward questions about Suthep, AV looked down to his left, interesting.
Dan Rooney
I do agreed with you for some certain level of your opinion.
Please answer any question.
The best Thai PM for Thailand ever had...love you Abihisit, smart and honest.
But some Thais are not smart say he is not good. If you look back in the pass and open your eyes, you will see how difference of all PMs of Thailand ever had.
He's a good talker...and only that
Abhisit, Yingluck, Thaksin and Suthep should be sent on a one way ticket to outer space!
Abhisit is liar PM and always doublespeak
When he was asked about his accountibility on his position, he always escapes with accusation of Thaksin or someone else false. Moreover, he is the best ever former Thai PM to answer difficult questions with questions to the one who interview him, as well as one of the best liar in the country.
According to The former pm Abhist had said, and in my point of view that Yingluck hasn't done any thing to protect Thai's benifit, she's focussing in her brother as well as company. So Yingluck and her party have to responsible.

You okay, Perfectly.Ka.You don't skeptical about.
20 years ago and this party still NOT electioned lol
Well he didn't exactly set the world on fire but he didn't get fired for corruption either . !
WTF ... Abhisit WTH u saying that
His english is just much better that Yingluck's.
Because he was born, raised and educated in England. Yingluck was born, raised and educated in Chiang Mai. You're comparing apple to orange here.
yea, he was born in UK you nitwit
hey
sorry i am not thai but what i not understand is yingluck and her brother say they love thailand Abhisit has he's mistakes yes we all have what i not understand is that if they really love thailand they have too find peace for the thai people which i love very much if yingluck love the thaipeople then she have too do what she can do in order to get peace in thailand she have to say that she not want to be in the parlament anymore and if it means that abhisit will be pm then it have to be like that it can give peace too the thaipeople if she say too all the people that she and her brother whas giving money before last vote not too make any protest then thailand can have peace again they can have reform and maybe have a better future,i realy love thailand and the thaipeople and it is a big pity too see whats is going on in thailand now.
if i can well i know that i can not but if it whas possible for me to ask yingluck and her brother about something then i want to ask them about this: where is all the sunarmi money that the western world send too thailand some people say that most of them fly down into yinglucks brothers pocket
ø
Wow he's got lots of groupies here...
Let's see
truth!
Well Mark, you've got play out by the Junta too.
what next thailand ? what plan we do later?
BBC,CNN They know all about Thailand Abhisit.
Red shirt just want to have the equal right as you in Bangkok.
exactly !!
Why don't you just wake up and see what he did with our country, not in your dream.
Every Thai people loves our country, but just in different standpoints.
I see all of you, from red and yellow, just listen only to your side.
Your democracy is not gonna work if the politicians don't have any virtues.
Thank 3 Times 5555
Current government have corruptions, but Abhisit's corrupted far more than Yingluck did. At least Yingluck is a legimate PM stepped to power by election, money buying vote is bullshit, I voted for her by my own will, not for money and I believe that my fellow country mates in the northeast voted for this government by their own will too.
Seriously, government haters, do you remember the election card before Paue Thai government? I remember that there is ridiculously large amount of wasted cards because of the wrong pick in the party logo square, I wonder why is that happened?
well said she was elected by the people not for money but by the will of people
Yes, you believe in democracy by refuse to the re-election.
I believe he is good enough just he is not richman and powerful businessman like Thaksin
Who believe this man?
poor abhisit !

YINGLUCK SHINAWATRA!!
hey Thailand! how is that government working out for you 8 years later??? I'd say not so good.
@@Ned88Man I don't think Thanathorn can win as he has a case where his family with him illegally acquired lands...
@@roverteam4914 isn't that just normal politics in Thailand?
shameful!
