First of all thanks for this video. I spent many hours trying to program my new KT-7900D. The day I first keyed it my laptop computer died. I actually seen myself taking the radio into the driveway and running over it with my truck until it was flat. I played your video 300 times and finally have a couple channels programmed. Fantastic radio but without your video it is useless. Thanks again. KD2UTJ.
Hi Jez , can't seem to set the squelch without leaving it in monitor " mode" can I adjust the squelch settings? Can't find any reference to it cheers Andy
@@2j4ez ....possibly. Literally just got the radio yesterday, and then just went to power it up and at the bottom it says “KILLED”. I googled it and found Im not the only one. But I have no idea why it happened. I tried powering down etc. Neither the mic controls, or face controls would allow anything at all. What’s interesting is that this must he anticipated enough that the manufacturer has programmed the word “killed”.....lol
Hello? Maybe you have tried tx only icon on the signal... If you have how to fix it... All frequency on my radio are all tx only no rx... Maybe you can help...

Dear sir, I have QYT 8900D...the frequency range is only 144-147MHz and 430-440 Mhz. Can we unlock the preset limit to extend to 136-174 Mhz and 400-480 Mhz?
The Manual for mine claims the radio shows the input DC voltage at the bottom of the Screen on startup but mine doesn't. Does yours? I don't see any option for this in CHIRP either.
Good question I don’t think this can be used as a repeater . To be honest I’ve never looked into it but I will do to see if this can be used as a repeater

2j4ez it worked great after we found a computer that it worked with.It has great transmit audio and one friend said it sounded better than any he had ever heard me on.He thought I was using my ICOM 2820H.
Good question I’ll look into that . I have a tone generator app on my phone and if I can’t find the tone burst button I use the app to generate the 1750hz tone
TheAhrepskywalker no the the cable is usb one end a 3.5ml jack the other end. I got a bundle of programming cables from amazon for about £13 about a year ago . Was there no cable in the box ?

It should be just like a baofung . Not used the radio for a while . Look for sq lev it maybe the first item in the menu options change it from 1 to 0
Hi im trying to setup my repeater. Are you using only one qyt8900 as a repeater? Or your using two radio?
Just using one radio and programming a local repeater into the radio I can also use the radio simplex to talk to other radios
I don’t understand why saving the input frequency is necessary when we’ve already entered the offset and shift.
Hope this is still the same process for the 7900D. Have been having a heck of a time with it

3qdx mine shows my call sign with my name. Don’t think mine did show the voltage . I’ve programmed it from chirp

do you have a data cable? if so you can use chirp to program the radio

Ive never of any delay on receive. try turning the squelch down its been a while since ive used the radio
