Que joya!!!! Lo estaba reservando para verlo/escuvharlo con calma, que ganas de que pudieran venir y mostrar su trabajo en Chile y Sudamerica!!! May the lord allows that to happen!
an incredible ensemble that captures the spirit and feel of trane's alabama. raga massive does a trane tribute every year, this was the first. i was lucky to be there.
At the heart of Indian classical music are a set of melodic frameworks for improvisation and composition -- ragas. Raga-inspired music of any genre is fluid, colorful, and highly improvisational, requiring deep listening and respect between musicians. 10:01 BRM aims to leverage these values of openness, generosity, humility, and respect for tradition to cultivate genuine connections between artists and audiences of all backgrounds. beautiful & soulful rendition of this timeless classic. Although I myself had another performance that night, was with you all in spirit to celebrate the master's birthday!

Congratulations for this beauty! John Coltrane was connected with the sounds of India, and "Alabama" has a feeling the goes beyond just music, because of what happened in the 1960's, during the that racist attack. Beautiful!
Saw them open for Pharoah Sanders in Prospect Park last weekend, pretty amazing. They actually played this. A slightly different line up, I think, but nonetheless impressive.
I think the 1963 Coltrane studio recording was painful because it was recorded two months after the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. There was a lot of collective pain in the United States when that terrorist attack occurred, particularly in African American communities across the country.
Great question! We did an arrangement that highlighted Raga Nayaki Kanada. Maybe it was the strong 4th that seemed to get closer to the sound we were looking for...
John Coltrane's musical work is universal and perennial my friends! 7:06
Best version of this tune that Coltrane was not on himself.
Brilliant!
Coltrane would be proud!
Wow! Deep! Universal!!!

I was about 12 or 13 years old when that horrific event happened..
what happened?

I'm impressed! Not as painful or dark as the songs original intent but it seems in the trajectory, the liberated evolved version perhaps. Dope!
