Hey, Maddie! I just stopped the video 11:30 minutes in, because of something you just said. You said that you fear your vlogs being boring because they are repetitive with you filming what you do every day, and having routines. I just want to tell you that there, for me, is the most comforting part of your videos - normalising mundane things, necessary things, sticking to routines and taking time for yourself, being confused or unsure about what to do or what to decide. You basically normalise being human in a digital world where we mostly see aesthetic, perfect, curated, flawless snippets of influencers’ lives. That’s beautiful and inspiring to watch but for me it also brings a level of anxiety and self judgement, because my life is often messy, repetitive, non-exciting even though it’s wonderful. So seeing you live like a normal, imperfect and wonderful human being is comforting, healing, supportive and empowering. Thank you!

Windows/Android - I'm a gamer as well, and i decorate in dark colors anyway so the black doesnt break up the space I've made my desk area a little sanctuary of things i love
I'm a Microsoft girl, its what I grew up with but I'm also an old book girl too! Those are my favorite thrift/antique finds!
Don't worry about repetitiveness, I personally thrive on routine so even if I've watched you do it 1000 times, it still nice for me to see and encourages my own healthy routines. Thanks maddie!!
Madeline you are so OTT on this and the black monitor does not ruin the vibe at all - it makes the room functional. You get too worked up and need to take a break and calm down and the house is fantastic and relax and enjoy it. The corner desk area is perfect and the room has a dual purpose and that is a good thing.

I use Linux and Android and it is perfect for me😁 but anyone use what they like, no problem. The desk is awesome! And I love seeing the process of your house becoming and developing into a real home because with all this reorganising and changing around, this is exactly what you are doing. I think it"s a great idea to shuffle things around, you both will spend more time in areas that you werent necessarily using that much. You have to adjust the house to your needs instead of trying to adjust yourselves to the house, if you know what I mean.

I love a small desk in the living room, a place for writing notes and opening correspondence, keeping a diary or visitors book, and if and when you need a nursery. being close by will be important!
You can use incense outside! You'll get the lovely scent but won't have to worry about the smoke inhalation. Just check in with neighbors who are close by, or use it when they're not around. My neighbor burns nag champa outdoors every morning, and I love it.
Don't worry about repetitiveness. I love listening to your chatter regardless of the content. My ears perked up when you said it was Alex's day to bake bread. I would love to see you bake bread together. 😊

It's not ruined! It looks perfectly fine! Who's coming to your house that's going to mind? If they do, then why are they coming? Aren't the frames above the bed black as well? It's SERIOUSLY fine! I understand your thoughts, but honestly, IT'S PERFECTLY FINE! 😊

I think I would have put the desk beside the window when tou first walk in. You would only ahve to ahift the bed a bit closer to the wall that way...
When you finish the office, can you not leave Alex set up in the garage/screen room. Save the guest bedrooms for the future?

We had this issue during the pandemic so we had one of us in our back room on the desk we already have and we borrowed a table from my mother in law for the front room . When you have finished the office perhaps Alex could use the garage conversion as his office and maybe screen it off when you are entertaining. I’ve really enjoyed this vlog

A lot of people I know upload photos to albums on FB but it’s best not to rely on digital storage. I’m a scrapbooker so print my best photos and scrapbook them.

Beautiful desk! I'm definitely a windows person. Apple is crazily expensive for a lesser product (in my opinion). Yes it's pretty but you can't repair anything yourself, you don't have as much storage and forget about gaming!

Love your videos and your home! Another idea for Alex's new temporary office could be to move the bed along the far wall where you enter the room (think its the wall where the armoire used to be?). You could put a dresser back on the side of the bed closest to the window and the small table on the other side. Then you could put Alex's desk beneath the three pictures. The gorgeous green armoire could go on the wall opposite the bed.
Sooooo funny Maddie, my husband always makes the comment “you bought it, I didn’t want it” 🤣🤣🤣 Also Bobbie always finds a chair or sofa whilst following you both around, my dogs are just the same. Peace 🧚
Maddie if you moved your office in the garage what are you going to do with the other space. Maybe a guest house? Alex's desk looks good in that space. I'm windows/android ❤
I love the relaxed vibe if your vlogs, always good to watch in the evening 😍 I'm with Alex on the computer/phone, android all the way (also mainly because Apple don't have word suggestions in Norwegian and I need that😂).
Btw, ergonomically it lools like the chair for Alex's desk is a bit too low and perhaps not the most comfortable over time.
Ideally the desk should be level with the elbow when it's at a 90° angle. This can help with neck, shoulder and back pain 🌻 it's all down to personal preference and comfort of course 😊 x
I can completely relate to wanting pictures to be centered in a space. I don't know if this will help you feel better about the pictures staying where they are, but it looks as though the pictures are centered within the wall space. So they are in fact centered! All the furniture below is purposely asymmetrical, because it also needs to be a functional multi-purpose space. As for the black computer and monitor, they tie into the black frames of the pictures. (Or at least the frames look black in the video.) I use this reframing technique on my perfectionist thinking all the time, so I don't drive myself and my Wife nuts. Hehe! Honestly the room is so incredibly beautiful! I love how you've brought together old and new pieces.

Definately windows! Need a work horse, and it looks ok- it’s a computer! And it’s a guest bedroom- make your house functional for the people who live there!
I'd rather put the bed against the wall and the desk on the side next to the door, where the nightstand is (or even near by the window -> light) Just because I think it could be annoying to walk around the bed to get to the desk 😅 when it comes to work things have to be practical, not pretty

Android/windows through and through. Don't own any 'i' anything and we have 2 teenagers. The black monitor matches the black frame of the bed. I love it. I notice I also talk over my hubby as I too am thinking ahead 😂. So glad I am not the only one 😂😂😂

What about having separate offices and leaving the bedroom as it's primary function ? We did this , and feel absolutely free working from home. Furthermore,Alex would have to be going up and down the staircase all the time From here the bedroom looks way to small as an office. But surely I'm wrong. Hope to see Alex making bread sooo good. If you have google drive you can do a mass transfer from Facebook to the drive! It just will do it in the background. And then it’s easier to download and save photos from the drive (you can do in mass rather than individually). This hack saved me a ton of time and anxiety :)

I’m Apple, my husband is a gamer so he loves Windows and has an Android phone. There is always some sort of similarity between us, it’s so funny. Especially when you’re questioning yourself and wondering if other people have the same thoughts as you, I’m always like YES Madi! We are also renovating an old house and constantly reconfiguring and rearranging. It’s life ❤

I think there's a way to instruct facebook to give you all your albums to be packaged up for one single download, the facility is meant for if you want to delete your account but you can use it anyway.

I just thought about ur memory card, u said it was during the spring cleaning so not sure if it was in this move, but might be worth looking if not already at the white radiator where ur desk was as the last vid evidence was when u were at ur desk with it. I disagree on the book thing. I buy books to read them, and once I’ve read them I add them to my shelf 😊 in terms of nik naks they don’t need to be cheap rubbish, you can build up things that mean something to you slowly - like you said every room can’t be finished straight away, so why not fill the shelves slowly with memories, rather than buy things (even second hand) just to make them look finished? Just my thoughts, you do you 😊

I recently read a Martha Stewart article about decorating small bedrooms. It said if you really need to fit a desk in a bedroom you should use the desk as your nightstand. I think the desk landed in just the right spot in your bedroom! I'm a Windows/Android girl, but I have a sleek silver Windows laptop that I can close or hide when I don't want to see it. Maybe your husband could put an attractive artwork lock screen image or screen saver on his computer so it could look pretty sometimes.

In the guest room you might consider making a 2 dimensional plan on paper (or with the computer, if you have a program) and working out the furniture placement that way. It's far less physical effort as well as being more efficient time wise. Also, please do just a bit of research into the basic principles of Feng Shui. It will make any room feel so much more comfortable and homely, and for no money. One main principle is the idea of the "command position". Desks and beds should be placed so that the person who is sitting or lying in bed can see the door. But don't align the sleeping position so that the person's feet are pointed directly at the door. So, in the guest room, could the desk be placed to the right of the door, (as you see it from inside the room) and the bed be placed facing the wall the door is on but pushed against the wall. It's hard to tell from looking at the video if the desk and bed will fit there. If they will, the desk will be immediately accessible (for those quick trips to grab something) and both the person sitting at the desk and the person lying in bed will be able to see the door. This makes people feel safe and therefore comfortable. There are prehistoric psychological reasons for this that we, in todays world, think don't apply any more. But once you live in a room that allows you to feel safe on this ancient level, you'll be a believer.Best wishes to you both!
