In today's video we have learn about how to calculate the lighting watt in a room.
i know calculating the light watt is a big task and the most important among the ceiling.
i have talk about the simple trick for calculating the watt especially for ceiling light.
it's necessary to know about the right wattage for panel & cob light.

I had a question, for living room of 10' by 21', should panel light also comes in centre? Or it should remain only at the corners?
Not necessary
You can put them in center too, depending upon the ceiling and the wall design
I believe you refer the wattage of LED lights, as the lumpen’s per watt of incandescent or fluorescent lamps will be less.

Can you please help me choose right watts for my rooms.
Living room is 10x14 sqft where I have fitted
- 4 profile lights (240) half 2 in left and half 2 in right side of the fan
- 1 hanging light in left corner,
- 4 LED bottom facing lights (natural white) 15wt each
- 1 small decorative ceiling light in parallel of fan on the rear side 22wt
Is this a good light plan or I have used so many lights? I am little concerned

I had a question, if we are to place cove light around all the corners of the room will the watt remain same i e 7w or it will be added in the total watt calculation as 7w + 7w +7w+ 7w?

Hi mam, first of all thanks. My home construction is almost done. Everything thing you told is crystal clear mam. I just got one doubt. I wanted to give a task light(drop light) at one corner for study purpose.
Now, my doubt is that.. if i place that drop light in the corner, where should I place panel light?? Can both be side by side?? If so, does that look ugly? Or shall i withdraw the plan of using the drop light in the corner. Please let me no.

My bed room is 12 by 11 = 132 sqft / 1.25 = 105w
My question is I have seen many youtube videos they are recommending to go only for COB lights and not for panel lights
I am confused whether I should go with 10w Cob light * 10 (No.) = 100w
or split it up with panel light , cob light and task light

Hi. nice info. I have one question. If the false ceiling design is focused only in the centre of the room and not on the corners will it be ok to install the panel lights close to the center rather than corners?
Means you don't have fall ceiling in the corners?
@@architectsworld yes. Its in the centre and covering almost half the room.
Make sure in such case fan wings to be 1.5 to 2 ft always from surface light..otherwise fan rotation shewow appears on floor

Lighting is calculated on the basis of watts or lumen?. Lumen is different for same watt of different lights eg recessed COB vs panel lights.

Thanks for your efforts, madam. However light brightness is calculated in Lumens, not in watts. Because light can have efficiency . Incandecent lights have 7 times lesser efficacy than LED lights. SO its better to talk in lumens than wats. Watt to lumen ratio will be given on the lights too.
Agree but if we talk about ceiling lights watt is more accurate term to talk and decide on lights
Even if you want to buy a ceiling light online....they always mentioned watt not lumens

Different types of light will provide Lumens per watt. You should be talking in terms of Lumens not watts

What should be the distance of COB lights from the wall and between them to get the scaffoldings that we see in pictures and in high end luxury places? Will be using panel and COB lights in combination,can you recommend watts to get those scaffoldings for 12x14 and 12x12 room with ceiling height of 11 feet?

Hi, My hall dimensions are 13 x 10 feet. Is it ok if I use only profile lights in fall seiling (instead of LED panels) for illuminating all the room. I know it will look classy and nowadays its a trend also but I am worried if it can match intensity of normal LED panel lights.

Yes i always prefer in two color_ reason behind it we generally use panel lights for day to day activities in which we need white lighting and cob lights are for interior highlightning purpose that are in warm white color.

My room size is 10.5 x 9, by using your formula it should be 74 watt light.
My question is I have good budget for lighting, can I go with TWO 36 watt 2 x 2 Light panels for proper lighting? I do lots of video calls.
Yes you can but it would be great if you can use 4 so that light can equally distributed at each corners

So for me I need 10 surface panel lights of 15watts ? Because as per the Watts calculation in a room --
My Room size/1.25
19x10= 190
190/1.25 = 152watts
So as per the above calculation I need 10 surface panel lights to light up my room ??

No ambient lights are panel lights. Cob lights are basically accent lights which we used to create a focal point.

100 sq.ft. bedroom. if we go by your formula its 80 watt required light for room and if we go by considering footcandle and lumens formula its just 22 watt required. very huge difference. what to consider?

If you study lumens formula. It says 10 -20 lumens required for per sqft.

right now in my bedroom i have just 12 watt LED bulb which has 80 lm/sq.ft. i didn't feel any issue with this but i think 12 more watt will be more than enough in my room. means total 24 watt is sufficient.
may be we are going towards un-necessary more wattage unconsciously. the same condition we can see in malls n stores.

For a drawing room of 10 x 10 , which panel lights would be suitable - four 8 watt or four 12 watt lights ( if we are using only panel lights)and also we don't want too much of lighting, a decent amount of lighting would do.
