- Okay... since we ran out of time the other night when I was making parts 1-5, now I can update things a little.
What Would Jello Do? is an informal spoken word video series by Jello Biafra. For more information on Jello Biafra, visit alternativeten...
I would have paid more attention in history class if Jello was my teacher. This is riveting stuff.
He spoke at a lot of universities throughout my teenage years, and he did get an opportunity to educate many would be flinstone kids, myself included. His music was very powerful but a lot of people went to those shows and listen to the music just because they were mad at their parents. Teachers have a lot of power and we now have Trumps pick for the secretary of education who believes in gay conversion therapy and so on and so forth. She’s an evolution denier. She’s out waving her flag to reopen the schools.
Betsy DeVos! That’s her name
It's 3AM over on the east coast but I'm gonna stay up just a bit longer to watch some Jello News Network
Same here buddy.
Perfect for my 3rd shift security gig
#JNN
Thanks for the raw honesty man amazing to see, always been a fan of yours and your critical thinking. Which is more important now than ever.
Jello is crying, so humble, sweet and human ❤
When he started to tear up reading out those names at the start I really felt it too, never heard his voice sound and feel so broken and upset about something, I guess it's a touchy subject for him especially but also the amount of shit he does talk about he's upset and angry about he usually does with a good amount of anger, satire and really, really good intellect, he really should've won position as mayor all those years ago, imagine how much more of a say/how far around and further around he would get heard, nationally and worldwide. I'd love to catch a spoken word show one day, even tho I'm probably super late to the bus for that party.... rock on, we really do love you ❤
Im sorry for not knowing about your channel sooner. Thanks for everything you've done over the years.
In this era of bite size snippets of news, JB always drills down and gathers the facts before delivering anything - and then delivers ✊
@@votive3946 and why does that mean anything? Most of these pundits your probably listen to probably aren't much better than him.
So because he's a punk rock guy from the 70s it immediately invalidates what he's saying?
I'm blown away by the logic you use. It makes no sense. Damn...I feel for your situation buddy.
Thanks Man. Just hearing you telling this stuff, as horrific as it is, is comforting and much needed.
Jello, thank you for continuing to speak truth-to-power and for continuing to remind punk kids that they are going to turn out just fine. ✊🏻
Two life changing, eye opening things happened to me in 7th grade: 9/11. Weirdest day of my life. Later my friend let me borrow Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables. He got me into Wesley Willis too. I would listen to that on my CD diskman on the bus to school. Quite the rock n roll joy ride. Thanks Jello!
I met Jello once. I told him "man you changed my life". He told me "good now it's your turn". Go and use what you've learned to change somebody's life. That's best way to thank him.
You're a true diamond, Jello. My love always.
Thank you for sharing your memories Jello.
I've been a huge fan since I was 13, and my husband, Ron Rexless, was a huge fan too!
Grateful for your shows.
Thank you Jello...you clarify the political ideas and put in context the dialectical events much better than a sociologist! Best regards from London, UK
"The Flintstone children" is an epic scathing analysis, Mr. B.
As soon as you mentioned Nixon expanding the war into Cambodia a certain song you wrote popped into my head.
Thanks, Jello - I've posted this on DEVO's social media today.
duty now!
Very enlightening, thank you.
The late 60s/early 70s were certainly tumultuous times, and even sleepy staid Vancouver was caught up in it.
At the very first Greenpeace fundraiser in 71 my older brother was onstage & mom was cooking up tie-dyed teeshirts for the crowd.
Then l saw Devo & DOA in 79.
Wow.
(Did lights for your Spoken Word gig in 87 or so, with Joey on the door keeping the 'Flintstone Children' in line, and then DOA at the same venue later on: Good times!)
I live in Spain now but am following the protests closely.
Maybe, just maybe, this time it'll change things for the better.
I was there at your appearance at Kent State in 2003. My friend Keith and I went in, we still laugh about it because we were both complete sheep coming into the thing. All we were talking about was "think we have time to have dinner before he starts or after?" and we're seeing all the police and traffic redirection. We were only concerned about seeing you and him signing a DK item. We were in the audience and that guy hosting said the police had surrounded the building and I was about to cry "We're going to jail Keith!" When we realized he was just yanking our chains. Keith thanks you for signing the poster for him, he still has it.
I've been listening to "Ohio" by Crosby Stills Nash & Young on repeat today
Jello looooves the grateful dead
I’ve been listening to “guilty of being white “by minor threat
And I don’t feel guilty for something I didn’t do
i always love seeing the energy dome in the background
My two favourite US bands are Devo and DK. A Brit( ok and Sparks)
@@iconicshrubbery you Brits took inspiration from our bands, and made something very beautiful though. Siouxsie Sioux, gosh.... so many good ones I could name. Hello 👋 from across the pond -a yank.
I would buy a shirt from you JELLO! The one you're wearing right now! Jello is the man!
I want the Devo hat, in the background.
Jello gives me hope
always grateful for your voice. thank you
Thanks for sharing history never heard about any of this before.
No time like the present!
Love your show man
Theres a song about the Kent State massacre by Neil young you should check it out.
@@beelzubladenoobcrusher7466 What's the title anyway?
Beelzublade NoobCrusher Neil young sucks
Love you Jello, so much. Thank you for your activism and for speaking truth to power.
Thanks for all you do Jello, seriously man.
Are you amazed on how fast the autonomous zone put up a wall ? And formed their own police and brought back stop and frisk ?
And are now on the verge of collapse and infighting due to running out of food and supplies as well as constructing a pathetic excuse for a community garden.
Good work Jello!Thankyou from Finland
Hey Jello, Just wanted to say what's up. I've been listening to all you're work since I was a kid in 92. I'm glad to see you are still putting you're voice out there. I think you have always been one of the main voices of Punk Rock. You helped sculpt me as a person and not ever believe the lies and always question everything. You are held very high in my book and always will. Thank you for still doing this it warms my heart to see this, That is all. JELLOFORPRESIDENT? 😁
That was 27 mins well spent, thanks.
We LOVE you Jello ! Thanks for ALL that you do !
Thanks Jello. Every bit of this is spot on!
I sincerely love you Jello. Thank you so much for changing my life back in 1992 when my buddy(ripCS) forced his greasy walkman earbuds into my ears with Too DrunKtOof%%& at full tilt and I became hooked. I went and bought "Plastic Surgery Disasters" when I had the 7 dollar or whatever, and it was a dud!!!! Side 1 was fortunately was side 2 and RIOT was my first taste on my own....SO GREAT!!.Dont even get me started on the head scratcher album intro-outro "why are you such a stupid asshole? do you really wanna know?" bit. I love you man. Todd Rocket. Canadian super duper fan.
Again, such a dark heavy post, but I start busting out laughing at the part about the flimsy tower.
Thank you so much for these videos.:)
Roy Skellenger is an unsung Kent State witness of the massacre. Thank you for mentioning him, me and Jerry. Peace at #KentState!
As soon as the video started my eyes locked on that Devo hat :)
"Resist much, Obey little; Once unquestioning obedience, once fully enslaved; once fully enslaved, no nation, state, city, of this Earth, ever afterward resumes its liberty."- Walt Whitman
I’d rather listen to Jello than any media fixed news broadcasts. Devolution
I'm 40 years old & have never seen a President act with such impunity- it's truly gotten surreal, at least to my perspective. I would not be suprised if this upcoming election is suspended or otherwise disrupted by Trump. The term 'fascist' is sounding less hyperbolic by the day.
Keep em coming Jello. Your voice is always welcome.
Clearly you don't remember or know much about obama's presidency.
@@youthfulcurmudgeon3627 is your job to go to each thread and comment and throw out an opposing view point on each one?

Can't wait for the next chapter commenting what's going on in Portland
Never stop doing what you do, Jello. We need you now more than ever.
We're on the cusp of it happening again... but at many many more places than just little ole Kent state or any other single localized place.
Did Jello's voice just crack with over-sentimentality as he named the victims of Kent State?
I think he was holding back tears
I'm not sure if "over-sentimentality" is the right word. He was having an appropriate emotional reaction to a really fucked up thing during his youth.
Jello lost his sister years ago. So of course this is an emotional moment for him.
Yeah, I've never seen him do that before.
They were all marxist subversives that got what they deserved.
i'm anxiously waiting for an update cause lots of things have happened in the last 3 weeks
woke up ta pee and saw this.. 5:05 AM in Dixie, and I hear a siren.. "SAVE THE DAY!" :^\ thanks, Jello.. keep it comin.

David McAtee, 53, was shot and killed at his barbecue restaurant in Louisville just after midnight on June 1.
The incident took place when police and National Guard members began to break up a crowd that had gathered at Dino’s Food Market, the grocery store next to McAtee’s barbecue shack.
Authorities said both the National Guard and Louisville police “returned fire” when McAtee fired his weapon toward police.
You got my vote if you ever decide to run for president. I've been a fan of yours forever so you have my full support
I love you jello. Thanks for your insight.
So sad what's happening in your country right now. Hopefully this will bring about some real positive changes. Stay safe and stay strong.
RIP Sarah Grossman, and the students of Kent State 50 years ago.
You have always been sort of a mentor as well as an inspiration to me by default ever since I was about 15 years old back in suburban NJ circa 1979 when I first heard the California Uber Alles single on a local college radio station, perhaps WFUV or WFDU, and in gleeful spite of my pot smoking Airplane and Dead listening teenage werebear stoner predisposition I became an unapologetically unrepentant fan for life because the most important lesson that you've taught me is to always scratch deeper than the impeccably choreographed superficial bullshit surface levels that we are oftentimes force-fed from a very early age in this life while always thinking, reasoning and questioning anything and everything to a point somewhere way beyond the extremely rigid reactionary confines of the conventional dumb 'em all down educational system from a cultural and sociopolitical standpoint and viewpoint as an American citizen and also as a sentient being on this planet and for that I thank you kindly from the heart and in lieu of this arguably long-winded commentary lapsing into a shameless ass-kissing festival I am also willing to acknowledge the fact that if I were simply a complete and utterly unredeemable nitwit without any intelligence or an openly inquisitive mind of my own I would've been totally fucked from the very beginning regardless of whether I had ever laid ears on a Dead Kennedys record or not or something to that effect anyway. I also wanted to mention that for the first time in approximately 40 years of bearing witness to your seemingly infinite wellspring of thought provoking observations, this was the first time that you sincerely moved me emotionally when you started to break down about what happened at Kent State and when you were watching that made for tv movie about it with your beloved sister Julie whom I know was very dear to you, even though I don't know you personally, because my sister Gina is my best friend who keeps me grounded in this increasingly chaotic world and I love her dearly, so I can more than absolutely understand that kind of heartfelt expression of unguarded human emotion and from exactly what kind place it is coming from and it speaks volumes about you as a real person in the most positive way possible as opposed to an image or a trademark or even a mythological pop countercultural icon who runs an independent record label and you obviously love cats therefore I suppose I trust you to a certain degree as well. I wish you peace, safety, health, happiness and well-being and I also hope that the CIA or whomever finally decides that they are sufficiently amused enough to pull the plug on their woefully distasteful little exercise in divisiveness and destabilization and permanently neutralize Emperor Trumpty Dumpty aka Praise-a-dent Jim Jones A L'Orange once and for all while we still have a country and a planet left to live, love and dissent freely on. Unsolicited testimonial...🐈🇺🇸✌🏻
Here I was thinking that siccing dogs on people might remind you of standing rock.
But, I guess I remember when you circled the A at the end if your autograph.
I guess it's easier to pretend that this is only one party responsible...

Thank you for these posts
Grew up some times in Kent some times and went to school there.
You see Damon at the studio you tell him Ben said 'Hi' please.
Gosh what a small world. I've known Roy Skallenger since I was a teenager. Of course, we've bumped into each other quite a bit in SF, I'm just not a glutton for attention.
scary poignant and powerful stuff. TY Jello.
I wish you’d fleshed out the bit about “Police Truck” a bit more, give us more insight into what the incident was that song was inspired by
My uncle saw the whole Kent State happen He became a American History teacher in the University of Great Falls Montana
Does he teach history or government approved history?
one of my favorite shows i played was phoenix fest as i got to close the event on sunday but you spoke earlier and i got to say i played the same stage as jello!!!!
Off topic, but thank you for introducing me to Kakistocracy.
Man. I'd never guess it was Jello walking by me when he wears glasses.
thank you jello. i like your energy dome
Thank you Jello! ❤️
Great Series!
I also ask, “what happened, Chris??”
If you can find it- watch Red Squad(1972), a documentary about the NYPD Bureau of Special Services. It features a short interview with Ed Koch when he was still a Reform Democrat!
i like the middle finger in the backdround
I was surprised that there are people who don't know about Kent State, but then it occurred to me: I'm old.
Thanks.
Thanks, Jello. Heavy
I like the longer what would jello do episodes
Thanks Jello!
i think it's time for a wwjd weekly podcast. would probably be a big success. go on chapo.
Yea, I think a lot of people missed the dog reference! How has all of this time gone by and things have not changed!? Would you consider doing a show in Philadelphia?? Please! ❤️❤️
Hey Jello, don’t know if you read the comments but you’re doing a great job. I’d love to see you as press secretary under a decent administration someday!
When are you going to tour?
2003, I was high on pot and ecstasy to remember anything from that year. I don't date anymore, I gave up on relationships a long time ago. I would love to hangout with you at pub and discuss such topics over a beer.
I actually googled information on the Kent State massacre and it looked horrific. I spoke to my mom about the massacre, she's about 6 years older than you and she told me all about the incident. Hugs for Jello for the first part of this video.
Since moving to Hawaii 6 years ago, I've been finding out some not so good things that the government has done. They don't want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. Because people who think critically cannot be ruled.
You sound more like a guy suffering anxiety and looking down a rabbit hole.
Don't go down that hole man. There's no ladder long enough to get you back out and you'll wind up in the zombie QCult.
Beeble Brox What? o_O

WE LOVE YOU JELLO, PLEASE PLEASEPLEASE DONT GIVE UP ON US! WE NEED YOUR ASSISTANCE, YOU KNOW WHATS AT STAKE! EDUCATE US IN THE WAYS OF CRITICAL THINKING!!!
Hi Jello! I must love these videos, and even though I'm not from the US myself I think that they're very informative. Question. Have you ever watched/listened to Kyle Kulinski? His UA-cam channels name is Secular talks. I listen to him regularly and tend to agree with alot of things he says.
Just found out 6 CU Latin protesters were killed via two separate instances of car bombing in the 70's in Boulder,Co. It took 50 years for the city to acknowledge the incident with a memorial.
CDC now reports < 1/3 of Americans gargled w/ bleach for Pres. Trump. Normally, Jello would have jurisdiction for writing a song about this kind of thing but I'm not sure even Jello can process what's going on any more.
P Shiells since Trump never told anyone to “inject bleach” but somehow the media made millions believe he did, who should get the blame?
Preach!
Waiting for th new wwjd. :(
Sharpshooters and a swaying podium... Too much goin' on!
Does any one else think jello should run in this election. I'm down for jello as president. #jello2020
He was nominated in 2000. The Green Party of New York (I think it was the New York chapter anyway 🤔) Nader ultimately got the nomination for the Greens though.
@@Pretermit_Sound I remember that, I think he came in 3rd place too
@@Swimmy218 sounds about right. He ended up supporting Nader ultimately. That was a really inspirational campaign actually. What Nader was put through was absolutely criminal though.
Does he still run for Mayor of San Francisco? I wish he would and get that Breed idiot outta there!
I'm listening to this and dozing off. I'm sure Biafra knows who the bluegrass singer Alison Krauss is. I didn't realize when he said Alison Krauss died I thought she was the victim of a riot now. Not a victim of the Kent State riot. I almost lost it!
The best WWJD post yet, your thoughts on Kent State had me listening intently. Krist obviously drank some Trump Cool Aid, but if you read his entire tweet, it's not nearly as shocking as the media makes it out to be. And his point about consistency in our standards of judging others is important, polarization is the go-to tactic for elites to divide and conquer us.
I worry that if a Kent State event happens here now... that it will not even remotely have the impact it did back then. And I feel like such an event is inevitable at this point.
the only voice I trust in media
You ok man? Been a while...wondering if big brother grabbed you up...?? Hope not 🤘🏼
Why did 6025 leave DKs?
Project Veritas's latest movie about antifa is already getting debunk and the “expose antifa” hashtag got hijacked by Kpop Stan.
Please give links
The only thing that's getting debunked is the narrative you people are pushing about yourselves by the hundreds of hours of footage of antifa engaging in everything veritas accuses them. Nice try.
