Leiland: "What have I accomplished... nothing. What reason is there to remain and endure"
*Sees parachuting halfling*
Leiland: "oh yes. Hate."
Leiland: My life has no meaning. I'm okay with this.
*Sees the filthy halfling*
Leiland: Revenge is a very good motivator.
Spite. Spite will do.

This is the advantage of an evil campaign.
Why are we still here.... just to suffer...?
Oh, yes, vengeance!
it's so characteristic of Leiland to immediately roll a natural 1 on a death save

Leiland thinking of slow jazz as he falls to his death is SUCH a mood.
Especially when he notices that Maggie is going into labor. Reminds me of Klaus from Season one/1 of Umbrella Academy.

I love how john feathers was a random npc that was not planned to be part of the team but i love his character
The best characters
I would die for John Feathers
I would hunt all the forces of good for John.
The best characters are the ones that weren’t supposed to be
Every campaign has that one character that the DM had to give a name and personality on the spot that becomes the party’s favorite and just hangs around forever.

Knowing that Brennan planned for the cast to fight each other, only for the them to discover the true power of friendship is the funniest thing ever. 10/10.
Brennan wanted Murder-Hobos, they gave him the Addams Family
*snap snap*
It’s cause every villain was the “I may be evil but I’m not a monster” trope XD like, they do evil shit but they have their boundaries and they will not tolerate assholes lol
Leiland's development from being hopelessly in love with Zaul'Nazh to realising how much Zaul'Nazh was a frat boy who degraded Leiland's friends and never deserved any devotion. Magnificent.
I mean, he is the lord of evil
Leiland went through a somewhat hilariously similar, yet evil version of the arc of Kristen applebees, and I love that
@@YeetSpace Leiland had Riz’s rolls with Kristen’s arc
That’s a perfect description!
@@yourlocaldemon2195 Efink has Kristen's crisis of belief, too.. and both are clerics!

I know that feeling. You plan failsaves, and the players manage to fail anyway.
These are THE most positive and non-toxic Evil Beings I think I've ever seen. They may want to spread Murder and Devastation over the entire World, but dammit, they'll do it TOGETHER.
You know I like that
I mean you are evil and spreading chaos but atlest not being a ass about it 😃
Brennan had thought that the party would all turn on eachother and vie too become the new dark lord but instead they're all super supportive and wholesome

Brennan contemplating the skill check required for birth has the same energy as him figuring out the check involved in jumping up a blob of corn’s rear end
And the answer to both of them could/should have been animal handling
That’s exactly what I was thinking!
@@debran940 yes!
Haha my husband lets me handle all births in our game since I've actually given birth to 3 surviving children, lost 2. So I do a set of repeated rolls for the baby, the mom, the cleric/midwife, and severity for nat 1s. Nat 20s move that shit along fast, mom's got this. But anyways, it's a lot of CON and WIS rolls, then medicine checks for anyone in the room as well as CON for the dad. We've had a few fainters lol
@@MegaKat I know this is mega late, but how long would you say those interactions typically take? Does it depend on the rolls?
I just love how Mattew is just constantly failing and obliously is a litte bumbed my that he still gives an awsome performance and is still able to turn it around for himself and have a lot of fun. And providing with a lot of comedy while doing so. Seriously, the momenent Liland tells Effing the abserdity of a frying pan wielding halfling defeating the forces of darkness is the funniest bit so far for me.
I am just there. I. Am. Crying.
Erik Jelle it takes true skill to play two different characters (king of the Vinguri, warrior of darkness/Leiland the disaster gay) and I’m so happy matt got the chance to do so.
Matt, when a player, is ALWAYS a failfest... but watch his face when it happens.. he loves it as much, or more, than succeeding
Just wanna point out her name is "Efink, as in Knife backwards".
@@spikertaker That makes her name eve cooler

The moment Maggie named the baby was one of the most innocent, precious, inspiring moments in any film or show I've seen in a long while. The everyone's expressions, and especially Matt's reaction, really sinched it.
Brendan absolutely refusing to give Leland the last word over Hamhead, even when she isn't there.
When you plan for an evil campaign that will end in PvP and you get a heartwarming story of a group of workmates becoming fast friends and taking on the world together
Knowing that Brennan had intended for this to all end in an all-out PvP boss fight, seeing him try to give them subtle prompts to get them to go in that direction, and then watching as they completely misinterpret that and find the heart in each other as friends is simultaneously hilarious and heartwarming
@@MetaNiteFMI completely missed that. What prompts did he give?
@@MrDifsh I assume they’re talking about the moment’s of introspection each character got while falling out of the ship, about how everything is the fault of Zaul’nazh being a fuckup.
Brennan was maybe hoping they would come away from that with a feeling of “Yeah, FUCK that guy, I would do a much better job if I had the crown!” but instead they all went “Yeah FUCK that crown, I have more important things in life to look after!”
When Maggie/Rehka was giving the talk about naming her baby, I was 100% prepared for her to name him John. When she gave the last few lines of the speech, looked at Matt, and said Leiland, I actually had to pause the episode to start tearing up
Maggie: I'm naming my son...
Leiland: John!
Maggie: Leiland
Leiland: are you sure?
That is where I was too😂
1:09:20 This bit was some brilliant comedy. 100% expected a wholesome moment where the baby said something like "Leiland" or maybe just did one of those random cute baby noises like "Ma" or "Pa" that sound like it's addressing a parent. So the whiplash when I remembered this little baby is an actual demon and it just started going _"Kneel"_ sent me to the moon laughing.
“Kneel before me” 😂
The fact that Leiland and Maggie’s relationship has changed from hating each other and being standoffish to actually becoming friends and him vowing to serve her child makes me so happy. The character development is so incredible!
it helps that they realized the guy they were in love with is actually a massive piece of shit who doesnt deserve them, so now they can bond over they hatred of that douche and laughing at his stupidity
I know! I started crying the moment she name him Leiland Jr.
Bro the ad got me like "I'm naming my son-ARBYS! WE GOT THE MEATS!"😂
"I now worship the line between good an evil" is very fucking raw line why is no one saying anything about that
I woke up today and immediately thought
‘It’s dimension 20 time, BABY’
"BABY" INDEED
Dimension 20 hell yeah, in the words of our Dungeon Master Brennan
@@explolsivecake2045 I mean "baby" is very very important in this ep
‘It’s dimension 20, baby time’
It's Baby Time, Dimension 20.
I knew that there was a weird crush thing with Leland and Zaul'Nazh
Bless your gut.
What was your first clue? His obvious jealousy of Maggie or when he told Efink that she wasn't his "type"?
Also Leiland was sneaking a few peaks at a shirtless Markus
"Guys stop this is the evil game!"
"Evil Is One Big Happy Family" is a trope
That conversation between Miles and Leiland is so heartbreaking. The "Is it true? You killed Declan?" *hurts*
Today is the day a fictional talking adolescent spider named Jason almost made me cry.
You are not alone
I'm so incredibly sad that Rekha's "The ham of Galfast Headhead" bit got passed over
Speaking of, how did she go from basically day 1 player to THIS? It's incredible
Timestamp?
I've laughed so hard when Leiland says "I've done nothing but being an anchor" and I instantly remebered he was hanging from the airship holding on a chain. Such a great, funny, emotional and inspirational content you all do in Dimension 20. Certainly got a couple of ideas for a campaign I'm actually running, so really thank you for all!
DAMN!! How did I miss that!
Exactly the same moment I thought off when he said that 😂😂
I cannot get over the fact that the change in The boatman's voice likely implies that when he was talking to the previous dark lord that he was putting on a funny voice to sound more evil but now he's so angry he didn't even remember to do it for these guys
I love the fact that Leiland is just accepting death with soft jazz in his mind and then… the nat 20, and the halfling. Then the rage bubbles to the surface and the chance for vengeance reignites his undead soul
Did they really just say both "the evil was the friends we made along the way" and "the evil was inside you all along" at the same time?!? I love that
The evil was inside you all along, in the form of a demonic infernal baby!
The gang’s discussion about a figurehead with an evil parliament honestly seems like the best choice for the Bloodkeep, because honestly what’s more evil aesthetic-wise than a group of malicious shadowy figures led by one evil ruler
Robes with hoods is parliamentary work clothes.
"i don't think we need to discuss my outward appearance anymore" was the most simple but amazing character development that almost everyone reaches at some point in their life and i stood up and cheered lol
"When you're only paying attention to your own failures, of course you're going to put everyone else on a pedestal."
Raw hecking quote at 1:08:16
Sokbar: Don't worry, Leiland. We won't just kill that halfling. One day, we will kill ALL the halflings.
Maggie: Aww! That's beautiful!
Such a wholesome episode.
I wondered why it was just "Scary Volcano", then I remembered Tolkien himself named the primary volcano "Mount Doom", so...
leiland is the sassy gay uncle that leiland jr has to look up to and goodness knows he’s going to do AMAZING
Trapp and Erika's eating popcorn and what not in the corner every time drama happens on the other side of the table is one of my favorite gags in these lol
Amy rolling two nat ones for arcana and religion has the exact same energy as Ally's poetic nat 20s but on the opposite side of the scale
Real Brian Murphy energy.
I remember watching this in Dropout and at 5:30 when Brennan asks if anybody would like to attempt to do something to survive falling and Rekha decides "no, something more is going to happen to me" I knew that could have been one of the craziest chracter decisions ever made in a DnD campaign.
leland is my go-to example character for how failing can be fun, and i love Matt's just leaning into the characters frustration and instability and insecurity to make the character so fun to watch and satisfying to root for.
and may i second that is a halfling can do all those things leland can also do any-fuckin-thing
(Sorry for being late)
Matt never actually really failed. Sure, he had a short burst of bad moments during the whole falling debacle. But he dominated the first fight early and kept busy a halfling that has proven annoying to ALL party members involved, not just him. He also used darkness to great effect and kept the Orc guy stuck and busy (even if it was at the gracious fudging of rolls by Brennan).
The whole failure was more just how he was written, being this joke of a stupid Gardner and a feeble halfling somehow evading all attempts at murder and capture. Brennan really leaned into this all as well, with The Beige really... only being the one that seems to be the brains of the operation. Emotionless elves, incompetent soldiers, hillbilly true king, deus ex machina of an army of souls, birds that are treated like tools despite being supposedly intelligent creatures. It's just poking fun at how ridiculous it all really is when you take an outward look.
And how easily the entire quest could've been if they just fucking flew the eagles to the mountain of doom.
@@matthewhass1384 Also, important extra context that came after the campaign ended: Brennan didnt want the party to kill all of the "heroes" quickly so he literally gave Galfast Hamhead the statblock of a storm giant to try an make them unkillable. Meaning yea Leland was seemingly losing or only able to barely keep up when they fought, but it wasnt cause Matt rolled particularly bad, he was just literally soloing a storm giant every interaction while everyone else fought reasonable opponents💀
@@JubioHDXyeah, like nobody else really had to have a prolonged fight with galfast so it was legit the image of a scary evil general losing to a random halfing with a pan XD like, of course they’re gonna be like “are you okay?” And it makes it all the more humiliating for him, when in reality that halfling is way too op lol XD
It’s like if let’s say the big strong bully character decided to pick on the nerdy and weak looking new kid, but then turns out the new kid is actually insanely strong despite his looks and completely bodies the bully. Then, let’s say a friend of that bully is later like “wait… you got beat up by THAT guy??” And jokes about him being weak, cause how strong could this seemingly nerdy and weak guy be lol
Like, the bully is definitely strong, but the nerdy weak guy is like insanely strong despite his appearance and it’s the funniest thing the way this trope was in played in this campaign lol
The idea of lealand wearing the crown when he already has one of his own made me think of double king XD
Double king is a deeply confusing video
double king! double king! double king!
I wanna take a moment and reflect on the sheer conversational genius of Trap. Without trying, pretty much everything he says is hilarious to me.
I 100% agree!
He is super detailed oriented and his observational humor is so on point.
Turning point in the entire game so far for this Found Family. when you see the next episode and the BTS video you're gonna lose your shit
Truly the most wonderful twist that their wholesome group friendship completely and utterly derailed all of Brennan's plans
what was the original plan? where can i watch / read about it?
Vicky Likes This I’m not sure about the later episodes but I know the first one was supposed to end in a pvp for all the villains
@@ero5392 really? woah. thanks! if anyone else have more info, i appreciate it.
@@vickylikesthis I believe that there two episodes of adventuring academy with the blood keep cast that is really informative
I love how Marcus' Plan is just the "My husband is the true king we can protect you" plan but slightly worse.
48:30 this is probably the moment Brennan realized his idea for the ending just wasn't going to work
His :O face after Erika stated her idea is the face of a DM rapidly rethinking what he needs to do
I thought he was going to say something when the camera turned to him 😂
"Of the Philadelphia Eagles?" has to be the single quickest, cleverest joke in this campaign. Bravo, Rekha.
I have never been so invested in an NPC's death saves as I was John Feathers.
god this episode is so wholesome
"This is supposed to be the evil game!"
i have thought regularly how i am rooting for forces of darkness. i love them all.
A spectral knight of undeath swearing eternal service to a demon-child that tore its way out of it's mother while she fell several hundred feet.
That was adorable.
I don't think "you can feel your fire break" got the laughs it deserved
50:17 "There are no rules anymore!" Does that mean Leiland is his own patron now? I really hope that's what happens.
That would be such a fucking power move.
I’d love it but I believe it’s still Leiland Jr.
The baby's first word being "kneel" was epic! 😂
At some point, it just becomes time to admit that Efink Murderdeath is bad at her job as an oracle. Tough to hear but I'm pretty sure that two consecutive nat-1s is exactly the time.
She's certainly no Adaine Abernant
she simply had to do it for someone other then herself
@@MrSHADOWANGEL999 And do find her own direction instead of gaining it from others.
I loved everyone's rp in this episode. A bunch of villains having a heart-to-heart made me cry. The juxtaposition of falling from the sky being the best thing that happened to a bunch of evil beings and helping them come together for a greater purpose was amazing.
55:29 "The very first songs of the creation of the world."
Damn, Brennan's done his homework on Middle Earth lore.
StruggleOn I don’t think he even had to do homework, I feel like he would just do that in his free time
This is part of D&D canon. It's why Bards are able to cast spells.
By homework you mean, read the books, right?
I never thought I’d be in love with an imaginary group of fantasy villains who fell out the the sky like some kind of twisted angels but here I am
Matt has a strange affinity for asking people about where they find their power, while knowing that they will answer something about their friends, even when he isn't DM. I mean, that's three times (to my knowledge)?
@Yashvardhan SINGH jup, and funny thing is earthbracker Groon is a monk of Kord aka the stormlord, if I am not mistaken

E-A-G-L-E-S, EAGLES!!!!!!
My favorite so far is: "That is desperately sad... Let's keep fighting."
gonna say, these villians have made me tear up more than any hero. The Team Spider scene, the naming of Leiland Jr., the Lilith and Efink's hug leading to a big group hug, Markus realizing his greatest treasure is his friends. Just so touching and heart warming
This is some of the most satisfying character development of any series I've ever watched or read. I'm living for this found family thank you so much for releasing these, I'm going to get dropout as soon as I can.
I've never seen the 'magic of friendship' been described so powerfully and in a way that doesn't feel like BS.
I freakin' love it.
And we shall win with Friendship, Love and Evil.
I appreciate the fact that nobody, not even the vile villains, can escape the magic of friendship.
i just witnessed brennan call out an insecurity he saw in a human being and fixed that insecurity on the spot through storytelling
The way Maggie was describing who she was naming her son after I thought she was gonna say Olog lol
HAHAHAHAHA right, the description fits pretty well!
That initative call for potion administration was fucking slick. love how Brennan's always trying to keep tension by well implementing on the fly rulings.
Leiland is broken! His priceless and personal metaphor to Efink is too good! Timestamp: 49:40
That scene is just perfection. Of all 6 episodes, this is the scene I've watched the most. lol
This is a masterclass on how to play evil, sympathetically.
13:01 As a rogue main on WoW, I appreciate the shenanigans of trying to shadowstep instead of plummeting to your death
My favorite scene has to be the first flashback with Zaul’Nazh. The idea that the dark lord started out his tenure fearing that he was a complete failure and the wrong person to rule was so well done. A perfect bit of story telling by Brendan as usual. Starts at 55:46
Vile Villains : push an insane elf who did nothing but help them make a crown and try to preserve his bones into a pit of lava
Also Vile Villains : Group hug around the blood fountain!!!!
I mean, he did also give the crown to Galfast, but to be fair, he didn't know
The most wholesome episode.
I cannot put into words how much I love this wholesome villainy
Dude, when Maggie named Leland I actually teared a little. Moving af
Honestly, Hamhead is the coolest little halfling. She’s tough as hell!
She got through so much! If this were an opposing campaign she'd be everyone's favorite hero
Fun fact... Brennan gave Hamhead the same stats as a storm giant.
i can't believe brennan planted all those seeds of conflict, intending for them to lead to an all out fight for power, but instead we got one of the most beautiful and emotional episodes in d20 history (and props to him for rolling with it so well even when it went fully against his plans for the finale)
"The magic from her friends"
*Arthur Aguefort has entered the chat*
When Maggi named her son after Leiland I actually cried. They are all so sweet, and Leiland is just the most precious boy ever and deserves everything. I love him so much, I dont know why im so invested in this. but i cant stop bawling my eyes out and my mom actually came to ask me if im ok and I kinda tried to explain the plot to her which ofcourse sounded absolutly crazy.
how in the world is a teen spider boy telling his wine-drunk spidermom they're family out here making me tear up
John Feathers makes the top 10 list of memorable NPCs Brennan has ever roleplayed
This is *exactly* what i needed during my quarenteen boredom
Okay but Jason’s speech killed me. In actual tears.
All this has taught me is that D&D is always two things: brutal murder and being together. Regardless of what alignment you start as that’s where it will always end.
I absolutely loved the moment Maggie named her child. It was so sweet and wholesome.
They are bad guys but they have such a great relationship together.
