I actually have a civil war ball gown and it is actually quite comfortable and gorgeous.

during the victorian era did the bride wear white wedding clothes or could they wear colours like pink, green, blue, etc...
Also did they have flowers woven into their dress and hair? I'm doing some research to help out a friend wh is writing a novel. Lastly did the men wear tailcoats and top hats or am i being overly dramatic?

I know some people that have gotten away with wearing them to party's I myself included. They work well with formal events like prom or homecoming.
