    Loving this series, I've brewed beer for about 20 years but got into wine due to yourself, fermenting a tea and a rice and raisin wine at the moment.

    I always use those little syringes that come with a certain child's medicine, great for adding small amounts of liquid

      I have spare syringes bought to refill ink in printer cartridges. It can instantly measure the quantity of liquid to wine.

    The glycerine should be added at the very end of the wine making cycle I assume correct ?
    Meaning the fermentation has stopped and we can add a drop of two of glycerine per gallon of wine.
    I did a batch of white wine with pears and I noticed it does not have the same body and aroma like the 100 % white I did.
    Possibly does not have the same amount of alcohol content.
    Great show!
    Thanks for sharing!

    Excellent vid and very useful information again thanks. I modified your carton juice wine to use glycerin , my latest batch is two ltrs orange juice, two litres cranberry juice, one tsp yeast, one tsp yeast nutrient, one tsp pectolase, and one tsp glycerin in a demijohn with 800g sugar, what do you think? I forgot also 1 cup of strong black tea.

      Might try that one myself. Did you put it all together to start with or add the glycerin at the end? You will have to let us know how it tastes and ends up.

      @@lindaemery9287 I put it all in together, did an apple one a few weeks ago that turned out nice. Just starting a tropicana orange and mango fruit juice brew too.

      @@dustymiller7758 I have an orange one on the go also an apple one and pineapple one so a mixed one sounds like one worth trying.

    Questions from the cheap seats!
    Does it add viscosity? Is that what you mean by increasing the mouth feel? Something to keep the wine on the tongue longer?

    • @HappyHomestead
      @HappyHomestead  4 роки тому +1

      Indeed it does Neil, it adds a decent amount of vinosity aka mouth feel / body to the wine. It makes it slightly thicker to the taste buds. . .

    Would you still backsweeten, using a sugar syrup or other sweetener, when using glycerine?
