Around 1985, Paula's voice was so unbelievably authentic garage. Plus the fact was she was gorgeous in person to boot...it's like she was given everything by God. But she quickly lost everything by the time early grunge arrived in LA. It's so weird as a story, but man... I sure enjoyed standing in front of her while her guitar rang in my ears.
So many meanings to the lyrics here... dreamy song about a supportive partner, check. Feminist anthem about a dude who works his hardest but ultimately never surpasses the protagonist, check. And then for anyone who's listened to the whole of Rock Hard... it might be more subtle than "Six Times a Day" or the first verse of "Craving", but yep it's totally about doin' it doggy.
One of my fave bands in the 80s, ended up in the military and some of their music got me through hard times. I remember our local Z-Rock station livecast the Pandoras concert that became the Live Nymphomania album. That was one awesome show. Absolutely gutted when I heard of Paula's passing. Had a crush on her like I did with Joan Jett. Big void in music with her passing. Would have loved to see how the Pandoras would have evolved into the 1990s. I reckon Kim's band The Muffs is probably a hint there. Now here I am feeling gutted over Kim's passing too. Proof that life isn't fair. The best and the coolest taken away too soon, and too often tragically and through no fault of their own.
Love The Pandoras. Saw them many times. Rest in Peace Paula and Kim.
My fave singer. Grrrrrr! Make sure nothing ever goes the wrong way.

I was at a show too in Hollywood where she was close to me and I was lucky to meet her. Question, what all did she lose (besides her life)?

How does this not have a million views? ❤
I love pop rock when it’s as innocent, young and fresh as this. Really well done ladies.
