American Requiem {mass grave or burial}" funeral is laying to rest the past that we have suffered as a nation and now moving to a new way of life. "Black Bird" was written by Paul McCartney (Beatles) during the 60's civil rights for Black Women. The extra vocals are 4 current young black female country singers that have all paid homage to Bey in their songs and or interviews. "Daughter" is following the don't mess with me or mine vibe from "Jolene" {which is actually from her mother's perspective, who is from Louisianna} and having fantasy's that she needs to ask forgiveness for that she then sings an Italian Opera (Lost Love). Then she followed it up with "Spaghettii" (Spaghetti Western outlaws' reference) saying She's going to handle whatever comes her way and not letting the industry play her. Willie Jones and Shaboozey are new age Black male country artist. Willie Nelson is a pioneer in folk country style music and is known for supporting and singing about unity. Post Malone is doing a country album too. "Oh Louisiana" is a sample from Chuck Berry. Linda Martell 1st Black female country artist to hit mainstream popularity and sing at the Grand Ole Opry. This album is so important for the culture, at least to this Black Nashville Native Girl! Also the horse on the cover is a "Lipizzan Horse" They are born Greyish Black and lose their pigmentation over time. "Sweet" is sampling Patsy Cline's " Fall to Pieces". Last this album was recorded 1st after Lemonade then "Renaissance" 2nd, but she felt after the pandemic "Renaissance" was needed to lift the mood. That's why the last part of this album flows right into the 1st song on "Renaissance."
I've been listening to Cowboy Carter ad nauseum since its release date, and to me, this is her best work so far - and I've been rocking with her for over 20 years. There's a lot to unpack and something for everyone. The first half is slow, and the 2nd half uptempo. You're doing yourself a disservice to only listen to a few track. Might have been better off catching the 1st verse and chorus off each record - that way you can keep a mental note on what moved you. Tyrant is one of my absolute favorites along with Ya Ya, Daughter, Spaghetti, Levii's Jeans, and Sweet*Honey*Buckin'. Those who like Hip-hop, Rap, R&B, and [old school] Rock will like these tracks - I play them for my morning cardio. I dislike when people hate on an artist just for the sake of blowing smoke out their asses. The album is a critical success. Hate her or love her that woman puts 101% in everything she touches. That alone should garner respect 💯

Cowboy Carter is iconic and will eventually be studied at an academic level. No one on this panel has the range for understanding or appreciating much less critiquing an album of this calibre. Two months from now they’ll just jump on the bandwagon like they always do.
Beautiful album indeed. I just wish yall actually listened to it in full. It seems as though one 1 person listened to it in full. But when some people did their breakdowns of some of the underlining means throughout the songs it only makes it that much more powerful. Great album but I do feel as though it’s an album that will need to be slightly studied to get most of the full meaning to what she was talking about/addressing throughout the songs.
I’m not a Beyonce supporter but I’m very grateful she’s reintroduced Country music to the urban population. Not a fan of the dance music and the rap but good for Beyoncé.
If this is an "introduction" then it's horrible because there is very little Country in the album, despite the name of the album and all of the hype leading up to it.
Act 2 was originally act 1 but COVID happened so when you realise that the dance music vibe at the end makes sense as you listen to act 1 It's a well structured album split into 4 pathways that leads into act 1..next is rock Doesn't even really feel like an hour
Dude... no one hates country more than I do, it's the ONLY genre that will make me angry. Don't fight it, fellas. If y'all didn't rock w/ the LP, y'all didn't rock w/ the LP. And it's as simple as that. I understand that folks walk the tightrope whenever it come down to Beyoncé Carter even when it's strictly about the music. I'm not a country music fan all like that. Nah, of course I know some country records, but it's definitely my least favorite genre. I'm an R&B/Hip-Hop/jazz/gospel kinda girl. In country music, I feel like all of the men sound the same. Nobody has a unique identity, especially, vocally. Same applies to the women. Basically, it's one, long, boring song. My history w/ Beyoncé Carter is pretty simple. Over the years, I've enjoyed a healthy amount of her records, but to just sit and listen to her music like I do Faith Evans & Mary J. Blige, absolutely not. I'm not a Beyoncé fan all like that. The tone of her voice is kind of irritating. I do, however, enjoy records like 2006's _Déjà Vu._ But yeah man, ain't no love lost. Anyhow, I thought her country LP had pizazz compared to the other modern-day, run-of-the-mill country LPs that kinda clog the marketplace. I think folks are interested in the "idea" of Beyoncé Carter in country music v. country music through and through. Make no mistake about it, family, this is a trend. Let's see how long this lasts before folks go back to listening to garbage female rappers. There's this curious "love" for country music that basically happened overnight.
The album is 78 minutes long. You can stretch a disc to 80 minutes. The project is also a commentary on the limits of genre and physical capacities of the disc-things that still dictate sales and streaming structure to this day. Dolly fan and don't understand why you're comparing the two. Lol They're both fantastic representations of each individual artist. Beyonce's was a more contemporary modern take - and that's as it should've been. What would be been the point to just do a play by play cover of what Dolly did?
@@robinvolpiexactly they are so butt hurt that the cover was a master piece all on its own. It’s the sister version to the original and that’s what makes it so beautiful. @@robinvolpi " Dolly fan and don't understand why you're comparing the two. Lol" Because it's a cover. Of course it's going to be compared. "What would be been the point to just do a play by play cover of what Dolly did?" @@TriggaTreDay "exactly they are so butt hurt that the cover was a master piece all on its own" It's laughable to call Beyonce's "Jolene" a "masterpiece." Whitney Houston's cover of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" is a masterpiece. Heck, Beyonce's "Jolene" isn't even close to being the best track on the album. That would go to "Bodyguard" which isn't even a country song.
@@NomadFlow "That's not want Dolly wanted Beyonce to do"???? Are you Dolly's fcking publicist or are you PROJECTING your own WANTS and EXPECTATIONS from Beyoncé’s cover?? Lol Your deludedness is particularly disturbing. According to reports, it was discussed. Dolly was considered, consulted, INCLUDED - aaaaand DESPITE Beyonce's changing some of the lyrics, adding a men's choir at the end (with some help from Willie Jones - young Black country artist), Beyonce STILL honored Dolly by giving her the SOLE writing credit for that track. Dolly wanted it to go big and to be popularized... as Whitney had done w/her song. That translates into DOLLARS. And according to an outlet, Dolly was so grateful and inspired by what Whitney did with that song that she invested some of those big dollars into communities of Color. But for YOU to present your own ignorance as Dolly's thoughts or wants, is alarming. Lol Holy sheit. Dolly has been had a rebellious spirit ALL OF HER LIFE. Congratulations Queen!!!❤ Slay and share that history and legacy of your people. Set the bar, those who get it, got it. Let those other self-centered artists ride the wave and chase their stars. Haters, get ya life when ya clean and perfect selves.😊
Hope everyone has a bless day
It's just something about people who say "I couldn't get through it"
All I hear is "My IQ is too low"
Everyone has different preferences in music
Why have an opinion on something that you didn’t listen to!
I will never get over the fact that the Joe Budden Podcast refused to react to the J. Cole apology to Kendrick Lamar - disappointed by whatever politics is in play there!

i love this album. even my boyfriend who hates country found him self asking me to replay some of the songs like it’s just good. if you don’t like it that’s fair . some of it is acquired but i hate when ppl act like if ppl do like it that means we are lying lol
Unpopular opinion: I like Beyoncé as a rapper more than a singer
Same
Bless your heart.
y’all only listen to rap music that’s why
@@daniscottxo Wrong guy. I listen to about every genre except country.
lmao trippn! she sure can rap though
Parks is the ultimate panderer
Cowboy Carter is iconic and will eventually be studied at an academic level. No one on this panel has the range for understanding or appreciating much less critiquing an album of this calibre. Two months from now they’ll just jump on the bandwagon like they always do.
why nobody peep he called the first song "American Retreat" joe is so funny
Black people started country music... So this would be a re-introduction
@@user-xw4vg1vy5e You know nothing about Country music. You're just repeating memes you see on social media and on the channels of Hotep Hustlers.
@@NomadFlow BLACK PEOPLE STARTED COUNTRY MUSIC!!!! Learn our history sir.
@@NomadFlow and theres a lot of country on the album. Whatre you talking about! open your ears and listen!!
Act 2 was originally act 1 but COVID happened so when you realise that the dance music vibe at the end makes sense as you listen to act 1
It's a well structured album split into 4 pathways that leads into act 1..next is rock
Doesn't even really feel like an hour
Once he said he doesn’t listen to the last 6 songs all his credibility went out the window 🗣️ cut his effin mic - Nicki Minaj
Dude... no one hates country more than I do, it's the ONLY genre that will make me angry. But I LOVE this album, it's not country, it's Beyonce - she just flipped county on it's ass and rebuilt it in her image! Disclosure... I'm not even really a Beyonce fan, but this broke everything in the best of ways! So much respect! As a Prince fan I feel she channeled his genre bending refusal to color in the lines brilliantly.
Wait I agree with the part 2 of 2088 👏🏽👏🏽!!! But Cowboy Carter is a Bey album and I LOVE THE END I don’t know what white boy talking bout !! Like that’s what makes it a BEYONCÉ album honey
….. well played boys well played.😂 yall can barely hide them lies. Its noticeable in your faces.
Its a great, album 🔥🔥🔥
This is a music podcast? So half assed
AOTY is Beyoncé Cowboy Carter !!! The album is prolific, ART and History !!! It was phenomenal!! I love that Cowboy Carter leads directly into Renaissance which is why the last few songs flow into the dance genre like Renaissance
Kept waiting for the beat to drop
For most people, the elastic songs are the best. I can tell of Beyoncé fan from a fake.
The last 6 songs are fire AF! white boy is trippn. sorry!

Him feeling like she just tossed songs on the album towards the end is crazy
Beyoncé albums need real critical reviews, not just a bunch of idiots
Cowboy Carter transitions into Renaissance. Hence why he wouldn’t like the last set of tracks…
Im not listenin' 2 this album : not interested in it...

2088 is under rated
If they’re going to critique music, they should all actually listen to it to hear it. Beyoncé demolished this album.
that was a wasted view for this videos. They are acting like petulant child too deep into their masculinity to enjoy an art piece. the album was NOT TOO COUTRY. most of these moffos grew up in church so i really dont get their take. ALBUM WAS ART AND FIRE and INSIGHTFULL CULTURALLY.
These are music critics 😢
We wanna take y’all seriously but it’s lol thin critique and guys who didn’t do the homework lol
Dude in the black should’ve stayed at home . If you didn’t listen , why even speak on it ?!

I hate when ppl aren't honest in their reviews; Country Beyonce is trash; Outside of Parks no one mentioned anything good about the album; this is the least talked about Beyonce album ever; there's a reason.
And that’s a lie everyone but you fake ass people in the comments liked it
Jay wrote the rap, goofies. Check the album credits. He’s on 6 tracks.
I still like Dolly's Jolene better but Beyonce's version is ok.
Dolly fan and don't understand why you're comparing the two. Lol
They're both fantastic representations of each individual artist.
You will always have a sister that is too scared to fight for what is hers whereas the other sister is ready fight at the drop of a hat. Perfect opposites.
@@robinvolpi " Dolly fan and don't understand why you're comparing the two. Lol"
Because it's a cover. Of course it's going to be compared.
"What would be been the point to just do a play by play cover of what Dolly did?"
Whitney Houston's cover of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" uses the exact same lyrics except that it was turned into epic powerhouse ballad. That's actually what Dolly Parton wanted Beyonce to do and sadly Beyonce didn't do that. She mostly just changed the lyrics to fit her brand which is fine but not as interesting as what Dolly herself was hoping for.
@@TriggaTreDay "exactly they are so butt hurt that the cover was a master piece all on its own"
It's laughable to call Beyonce's "Jolene" a "masterpiece." Whitney Houston's cover of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" is a masterpiece.
You think for one fcking second that she doesn't respect the shit out of Beyoncé's version, let alone all that has come with it??
Have. Mercy. 😬💆🏽♀️
Why do they talk about music…..
Country music fan and follow a lot of black country artist. Definitely didn't like it. Didn't work for me and it's been interesting to watch artist trying to get into the genre just taking hip hop/R&B and other content and throwing on some guitar tracks and think it's country music.
that white man gotta realize this a blending of genres not just taylor swift acoustic country.
The album was amazing
How sad that the only white guy on the show actually listened and expressed appreciation for the album. The message, history and sound should have a least been respected black men who are riding her wave. Good Balls
None of these opinions are informed. Way too much ignorance for me
This wasn't a country album so your opinion doesn't make sense to that fact.
Personally I thought the wasn’t good. A couple of songs are good and rest sucked.
Her career is so overrated
I couldn't get thru it either
That shit was ass
Lemme guess they said its a good album right?😂 yall know joe is shakes in his boots when it comes to the carters

I'm a country girl and I really liked about 4 songs including Spaghetti and I'm a Beyonce girl but Renaissance wasn't for me either.
One word Phenomenal.
If anything the album wasn't country enough. But to say you didn't listen to the whole thing. How do you give and opinion or a review ? Just be quiet.

The albun went on N1 more than 70 countries stop disrespecting her cause you hate her
Probably, but the masses buy her concert tickets, so I guess it all adds up at the end of the day!

The album doesn't stand out compared to other women's country albums that are out now.
